Senior RV Trips
United States
Приєднався 6 вер 2017
This channel began as a series of 41 videos of our RV trip to 20 western United States national and state parks from September 7 - October 29, 2021. Since then we've added several more trips to the playlists, over 100 videos.
We recorded these films for our family using a GoPro. However, in sharing our story so many people said to us, "Oh, I've always wanted to do a trip like that, but..."
That motivated us to add titles, music and some editing and make them public. We hope that by viewing these videos some fellow travelers may be inspired to follow their hearts' desire.

Fort Laramie & Fort Kearney, Wyoming Nebraska: June 20 & 23, 2024 @SeniorRVTrips
Visits to two major forts on the Oregon Trail along the North Platte River. Fort Laramie, in particular, figured very prominently in the Plains Indian Wars of the mid-1800's. Still very well preserved. Loved the COLD SODA (cream, sassparilla, and root beer) in the saloon on a very hot, dusty day in June! Thanks to Russell, our very kind and knowledgeable "bartender!"

The fort, along with others, were built by the US Army to protect and k...

Took a short 1.5 mile round trip hike on the Tanner Tail at Grand Canyon National Park. I've never set foot on this trail and just wanted to get a little taste today (as I was not prepared to do more). Beautiful start! Would love to go to the river on this trail. A snow squall suddenly showed up as I returned to the rim.

Black Kettles warriors had committed atrocities and depredations, which led to action against them. They weren't Saints toting bibles. There was atrocities committed on both sides. Try to be more factual and historical than a bleeding heart.
Yes, that is my understanding also, from what I've read on it. Not a bleeding heart; the brutal raids on the settlers prior to Custer's attack were horrifying! Just making a little video on vacation; not meant to be a full documentary. Thank you for your input.
Ah Custer, what a murderer and rapist you were.
Loved the journey with you Ron. Glad you didn’t run into any rattle snakes!
Only heard what sounded like a rattlesnake in Arizona as I was walking by; ran a bit after that! 🏃♂
Thank you for sharing this hike. I wouldn’t have been able to do this at this point in my life.
Well, you did it virtually!
I watch lots of videos of other hikers in places I will never get to either; glad to go along with them, though!
love your video, it reminds me when we were there back in 2017
Thank you! If you are interested in more videos here is the link: www.youtube.com/@SeniorRVTrips Not a monetized channel, purely for fun, entertainment and info. Ron
Thank you, Janice! We REALLY enjoyed your personal tour of the farm and our stay at your place! Glad you like the video. We just make these for fun, no monetizing. If you would like to see other videos here is a link to our channel: www.youtube.com/@SeniorRVTrips Ron & Cathy
So glad you guys had a great time on our farm! Thank you for the great video!!
Glad you showed the exact spot the scene was filmed. do you happen to know how far in the canyon it was...for a more precise pic. thanks
Not sure of the exact spot of the dinosaur attack, but I think it may have been toward the entrance. I understand several scenes were shot in Fern Canyon.
Here is an entertaining UA-cam link for you! ua-cam.com/video/Km6DAK3eKls/v-deo.html
I think the scene may have ended at the tree trunk across the stream at 15:20 of my video.
Last month we also visited Bryce Canyon and did the same hike, only starting from Sunrise Point, and coming the Navajo trail back up. Very nice video, thanks for sharing. 🙂👍
Thank you! Many more videos at SeniorRVTrips on UA-cam, if you would like.
Beautiful! Thank you😊
Thanks for sharing! Looks like an awesome area to explore! ~Karen & Shannon WOY
Thank you! LOTS more videos @SeniorRVTrips, if you would like.
Exactly why I “Zion” in the Winter!
Hi there, new to your channel as of today. Really enjoyed your video and I look forward to exploring this area you shared. My husband and I wondered if you have any suggestions for accommodations that my husband and I could stay at closer to where you were hiking in this video? Any suggestions are appreciated. Safe travels to you and your wife
Thank you. The closest camping is the Fruita Campground right in Capitol Reef National Park; very scenic camping with fruit orchards and homemade pie available at The Gifford House. There is also nearby camping and lodging west of the park on the Scenic Byway route 24 to Torrey, Utah. I've filmed several other hikes on trails right out of Fruita Campground. @@SeniorRVTrips thank you so much for your quick and helpful response, so nice of you. I look forward to checking out your other videos. 🤗🥾
are there places to park and lock up bikes at the stops along the scenic drive?
We locked our bikes at the rack at Zion Lodge. The park website says, "There are bike racks located at major shuttle stops and trail heads for your convenience." Here is a link to the Zion NPS page: www.nps.gov/zion/planyourvisit/bicycling.htm
Very nice weather, I like your videos, shorts and with great info 👋

Thank you. So far I have posted 75 videos of various trips in the US. These started out as family films, but I began editing a bit and decided to post to UA-cam. Glad you liked this one. There are many more @SeniorRVTrips on UA-cam. Not a money-making venture; I just enjoy sharing them and bringing some enjoyment to others.
Nice job; well done. I've been to the area a number of times. Never get tired of the awesome beauty, peace, and seclusion. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! In 2021 I visited Capitol Reef, but did not get the opportunity to hike this trail. So it was a priority this year. What an interesting, inspiring hike it was!
Loved it
Thank you! Such a variety of wonderful hikes in Capitol Reef NP. These videos are not a money-making venture; I just do this for fun and enjoyment, for others and for me. If you would like to view more videos go to: Senior RV Trips, on UA-cam.
Did you see the two faces on either side of the entrance??
Yes!
@@newellbate Nope. I'll need to take another look!
Beautiful rock formations and colors. Thank you.
Sure are! Glad you enjoyed it. Amazing place! Thank you!
Very cool. Enjoy your videos😊
Thank you! Glad to hear you enjoyed it! Go to: SeniorRVTrips on UA-cam for lots more videos! (This is not a money-making goal, purely for fun and the enjoyment of others)
I enjoyed watching this video. Great shots. Thank you 😊
Thank you! This may have been my favorite day hike during a three month trip. Lots more videos on UA-cam at: Senior RV Trips
This is so good to see. People out enjoying some nature and staying active! Have fun and be safe out there fella!
Absolutely beautiful work man, place is brilliant!
Thank you! It is beautiful and peaceful National Park! I love just wandering around and going with what catches my attention. The following day I hiked up Cohab Canyon. You can check that video, if you like (a bit longer than this one, though).
The peace and quiet is nice
I hope you enjoy many more years of battlefield exploration with your family. Good, clean fun! And yep, leaves many good memories. If you haven't yet, consider joining the American Battlefield Trust, a great organization that preserves, by buying and, when possible, turning over to the NPS or local history groups, for posterity. Enjoy!
Yes! I've been a member and donating to ABT since 1988! Joined at the 125th year anniversary re-enactment at Gettysburg! What an amazing re-enactment that was; thousands and thousands of re-enactors! The camps were filmed for the movie "Glory" (if I remember correctly).
Follow up ... and, lol, our RV is a near match of yours! Our's is a '99. We've driven it to Gettysburg and all over the country. Gettysburg is a great town! Enjoy!
My wife and I rented an RV for the first time in 2021 and loved it so much we purchased this one (previously owned) last May; only 7000 miles. Great for the two of us!
Pretty good photography! Our familiy too has come here for years, starting when the kids were small. Minus the first generation of " kids", now adults like your son, we continue to come here. Good memories!
Thank you. My father took our family to Gettysburg in 1965 (I was nine years old). That began my passion for American history and, especially, all things American Civil War. I began taking my children when they were very young. I always tried to make our MANY trips very enjoyable in all aspects so they would have great memories and want to return as adults...and they have!
My friend and I were just there in August. Our annual "pilgrimage" ❤️ Your video is very well done. Thank you!
Thank you! I seem to find my way back to Gettysburg every few years or so. Amazing how peaceful it is there today, especially off-season.
Gettysburg is such a beautiful town. I walk the battlefield on a regular basis. It’s awesome to have access to history in that way. I very much enjoy walking through the park and imagining what the battle was like. It’s a whole different perspective. When you’re going through the park on foot, it’s a completely different experience than in your car. To see the vast amount of area where the battle took place blows my mind. You two covered a lot in one day. It gives me great happiness to see other people enjoying history as much as I do. The fact that you took your family there when they were children speaks volumes, plus your knowledge of the battlefield tells me you enjoy and appreciate history as well. Thank you for sharing your video!
Thank you! It also "gives ME great happiness to see other people enjoying history as much as I do." Glad to have your feedback. I am very happy you spent some time with this video. I always wanted my children to have good memories of these historic places in their early years so they would want to come back and learn more. This year I experienced some of that fruit! We did spend three days touring the field. I only filmed a portion of our experience, but we did cover quite a bit. As you know, there are always many more lesser know places to explore (ex. Sach's Bridge, Black Horse Tavern, Devil's Kitchen, etc.), as well as the never-ending deeper understanding of the well-known sites. Thanks again!
nice video, we were in town for both the 160th in July and in Sept for WW2 weekend at Ike's Farm. We did a 1st day tour with Aaron from the youtube channel "Forward Gettysburg" he did a great job covering all the action on the 1st day in little over 2hrs.(he has a great video on the History of the towers ) Dunlaps is now owned by the same guy who owns Federal Point Inn they have a nice pub downstairs w/ great food. They should have Little Round Top open late 2024 but the work they are doing looks amazing .
Thank you for your feedback and info! My son had not been to Gettysburg in 20 years. He said when he was a boy he had no idea what was really going on (strategic, etc.) So I got him up to date. Nearly all that I shared with him was not filmed. Thanks again!
Took a look at "Forward Gettysburg" and the towers video. Excellent! Thank you for the lead!
@@SeniorRVTrips Aaron puts out some great stuff, also Josh from "History Savior 1941" & James from "Project_Past" also on youtube. We all met up in July at the 160th had a great time with them running around town. also if you haven't tried it yet Mr. G's Roadhouse (his food truck) out behind Gettysburger is a must amazing food.
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Lots more videos on UA-cam- @SeniorRVTrips, if you would like.
You have such a beautiful eye for nature and photography. I really enjoyed how you stopped and showed the details and talked about them. So far this is my favorite video of this hike. I hiked Hickman Bridge 30 years ago And I feel like I relived it through you the most. I remember it being beautiful but my memory couldn't bring back exactly how beautiful the scenery is! Thank you!
Thank you, Cynthia! All the UA-cam videos we posted were originally recorded just for our family, but we decided to add titles, music and some editing and posted them for fun. Greetings~ Omg!you did breathtaking trip- 😈
Yes! Lots of fun riding bikes in open spaces! First time visiting this area! Always wonderful to see wildlife in their natural environment.
I was there on 10/22/22 ! I climbed at the Gunks as a young person and have enjoyed hiking in the Trapps and Sky Top over the years. This trip was my first time to Lake Minnewaska. It was great hiking, next October maybe I'll do the trail to Castle Point. I'd also like to hike at Sam's Point, which is a drive further south. I agree: the Wallkill valley in October is spectacular.

Feel so relaxed during this virtual tour with you. Thanks for the amazing vlog filmed in Zion National Park ! I hope someday I can visit there!👍👍👍 New fan from Bangalore
Thank you! We filmed these videos as family films for fun with no intention of sharing them on UA-cam. So many people have said to us, "Oh, I've always wanted to do a trip like that"; so we decided to make them public and perhaps inspire others, like you, to venture forth! Also, I think you can find all the videos in one place (although I haven't finished posting them all yet) on senior RV trip 2021 and click on videos. Let me know if that works for you. Ron
