@M-Cray we were talking about the Bible and my buddy said hey have yall heard about the book of Eli it's on tic toc he said it intrigued him so he bought and and was telling some of the details about it and why did they not include those stories when King James was getting the books together I didn't really know what to say I just said there are certain questions you need to ask God face to face but what really matters are the books that talk Christ dying for our sins and resurrecting for our sins 🤔

This is outlined in *2 Corinthians 5:10*, which states, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.” On the other hand, the wicked will stand before the *great white throne judgment*, as described in *Revelation 20:11-12*, where the dead, both great and small, are judged according to their deeds. Those whose names are not written in the Book of Life are cast into the lake of fire (*Revelation 20:15*). The *second death* refers to eternal separation from God in the lake of fire, which is described in *Revelation 20:14-15*. The scripture explicitly says, "The lake of fire is the second death," meaning it is a final, irreversible punishment for the wicked. This is not a metaphor but a literal eternal punishment as indicated in *Matthew 25:46*, where Jesus speaks of the wicked going away to "eternal punishment." Regarding the consciousness of the dead, *Luke 9:30-31* shows Moses and Elijah, who were alive and speaking with Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration, proving their consciousness after death. Furthermore, *Luke 16:19-31* tells the story of the rich man and Lazarus, where both are fully conscious and aware after death-Abraham, also alive, speaks with the rich man. These passages affirm that the dead remain conscious after physical death. Lastly, the eternal nature of the second death and punishment is emphasized in *Revelation 14:11*, which states that “the smoke of their torment will rise forever and ever” and *Mark 9:48*, where “the worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched,” making it clear that this judgment is everlasting.

"Mat 17:9" indicates that what Peter, John, and James witnessed when they seen Moses and Elijah was a vision. For this reason I do not regard "Luke 9:30-31" as proof that we can be sure the dead are conscious. The story of the rich man and Lazarus is likely a parable. For this reason I do not regard it as proof that we can be sure the dead are conscious. Also, it is said by some that the story shares certain themes with extrabiblical literature that was popular during the time the story of the rich man and Lazarus was told by Jesus. If this is true then it's quite possible that Christ purposefully caused the story to share certain themes with certain extrabiblical literature for rhetorical effect that's not actually intended to reveal the nature of sheol. A man by the name of Chris Loewen talks about the extrabiblical literature i'm referring to in more detail. I can post a link to his work if you'd like. At any rate, I think we can both agree that the story serves to disabuse it's audience of the notion that the rich are rich because they are favored by God and the poor are poor because they are cursed of God. The rhetorical question asked by "Isa 33:14" seems to substantiate the idea that the phrase "eternal fire" is often used as a figure of speech that's meant to imply that one will be utterly destroyed. The phrase "their worm dieth not" likely implies utter destruction too since the notion that a carcass is being ate by a worm that will never die implies that said carcass will be utterly consumed. With all this said, it doesn't seem likely to me that the phrase "eternal fire" and "their worm dieth not" are meant to be taken literally. "Mat 25:46" seems to communicate that only believers will recieve eternal life. This would imply that the rest of the dead will be sentenced to eternal exclusion from life itself. Therefore it's plausible that "Mat 25:46" actually substantiates the notion that "Rev 14:11" uses figures of speech in order to imply the finality of the same punishment "Mat 25:46" is intending to make reference of. Though i understand why ppl share your view, it seems like the view begins to have too many holes when we consider everything scripture has to say on the matter and therefore i cannot subscribe to the notion that we can be sure scripture intends to communicate that unbelievers will only be figuratively deprived of immortality but will never be literally deprived of immortality.

@@Major-d9b When we examine Luke chapter sixteen, specifically the story of the rich man and Lazarus, it's important to note that nowhere does Jesus say this is a parable. In nearly all of His parables, Jesus makes it clear that He’s speaking in metaphor or story form. But here, something distinct happens-Jesus uses an actual name, Lazarus, which He never does in any parable. This stands out and should alert us that this account is different. Additionally, we shouldn’t take liberties with scripture unless it's stated that it's a parable. Jesus told many parables, but if He doesn't call it a parable, we should not assume it's one. Instead, we should treat it as a literal event, like the prophecies in Isaiah fifty-three. Much of what Isaiah foretold-such as the suffering of the Messiah-came to pass in a literal sense, with only a few metaphors used to describe real events. The rich man and Lazarus, therefore, should be understood as a true glimpse into the afterlife unless explicitly stated otherwise. Scripture demands that we approach it with reverence and precision, not inserting interpretations where none are given.

​@M-Cray Some say that the name "Lazarus" means "whom God helps". Others say it means "without help". Either meaning would lend itself to a significant feature of the story in question and therefore it should be quite apparent why the name would be featured in the story if it's a parable. The story in question may very well be the only so called parable that includes an historical human figure (namely Abraham) but it's not likely that this somehow implies that the story in question is not a parable. "1 Kings 20:35-43" seems to substantiate this notion since the prophet in that passage makes himself part of what is likely a parable told to Ahab. "1 Kings 20:35-43" also seems to indicate that it's unlikely that a parable needs to be declared a parable in order to be a parable. I say this because said story told to Ahab is never explicitly declared to be a parable by "1 Kings 20:35-43" but yet it is still likely a parable. With all this said, it is likely that stories such as "the prodigal son" and "the unjust steward" are also parables although we've never seen scripture explicitly declare them to be parables. In my humble opinion, taking a scripture literally despite there being data that would make a literalistic interpretation unlikely valid is actually an irreverent approach to scripture. The notion that we can be sure the righteous were conscious after death even before Christ died, is not a notion I find tenable in light of what I've divulged thus far and in light of what I have yet to mention which would include "Isa 38:18-19", "Psa 6:5", "Ecc 9:5", "Ecc 9:10", and other things also. I'd be doing you a disservice by affirming a notion that can be shown to be invalid when placed under scrutiny.

And the scriptures that you reference are indicators that spiritual entities, indeed, were set over particular nations. Even in the book of Daniel, when it mentions the Prince of Persia, this is another indicator that spirits rule over particular geographical locations. Good stuff.
