I have spinal stenosis and cannot stand more than 5 minutes
Dr. Patterson: "You said you take your your x-ray unit and line it up so you know where you need to go". Before all this starts, how do you know where you need to go? What is done to tell you where you need to go on the patients back." Does the patient get an MRI for you to see where the pain is happening? Hope to hear from you soon.
I had this done 6 days ago & looking for help, right now!..im looking for pain relief right this minute!..never again 😭😭🤬
Can the radio frequency ablation be used for the sciatic nerve root ? Is there a danger for arachnoidites forming after this procedure?
Oct 24, 2024 I had my first neck ablation 9 days ago on left side some pain afterward it takes 14 days for nerves to die. Having my right side done in 5 days looking forward to it. The procedure did not hurt i had great dr he gave me something for pain before procedure. This procedure is worth it to be pain free. I give God all the credit for sending me to a good dr.
Update pls
see both unanswered & contradicting answers to various questions....looking for a support group for patients w/device ...does anyone know where
Question I did RF transmitting for the Army I'm very very sensitive would this be something viable for local control of fibro like in my more painful areas?
I wouldn't do anything but fast and exercise my body will figure out the rest I've gotten better but it's not easy just curious more than anything appreciate your effort
May this help facial pain? Thanks
Had mine done last week. A bit painful but bareble.
FOX News 11 Reno Bias fake news at local level 💩
It turns out that my problem is a bone Issue. I had knee replacements about 30 years ago. I thought that I would not have pain in the future. WRONG. I am going for PT.
Ive had 6 rfas...3 on each side L3 L4 L5 S1. But the pain relieve is onky lasting 3 to 5 months. Why do some peopkes nerves regrow faster? I read taking Vitamin B12 can increase speed of nerve growth . Could that be true?
Mine was brutal and did nothing for the muscle spasms when the doctor clearly lied to me
Is this procedure more painful than back Injections?
Had this done last December.. big fail. Specialist thought best to do it in my scalp instead neck for ON nerve impingement headpain .. was big error in her part.. she should’ve stuck to first idea in back of neck .. I knew it wasn’t going to work when last minute change of plans, on morning of procedure .. I was correct. She screwed up big time. Because of her wrong actions I’m back on long public waiting list again. Took 2 years to wait last time. Now, I have to take panadien forte and Maxalt often with its bad side effects . Goodness what else will do to rest of my health taking all those pain killers.. I’m not a happy person.. my procedure was done under anaesthetic.. can’t have it done awake it’s far to painful .. asking hospital if they could do both locations done same time .. lumber stenosis pain and neck under anaesthetic together.. because I cannot have any of those injections Because the pain goes off the charts.. how patients can get it done without anaesthetic is mind boggling. I don’t know how they can stand the pain while the thingy mybob goes inside . The pain is excruciating . I scream very loud , cry .. it’s very traumatic in my case.
I just finished my 2nd nerve block procedure and am scheduled for the RFA in two weeks. Never had it before but at this point I'll try anything. I've had chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, physical therapy, steroid injections, CBD and opioids, none of which helped for more than a couple of days. And I've been told I'm not a candidate for surgery. So, here goes, maybe this will do the trick. Don't care if I have to come back every year as long as I get long-lasting relief.
Can this damage back muscle cause instability
good question I read it could
How do you insure the entire circumference of the nerve is ablated? Baloon probe? It sounds like you are creating a lesion - correct? Would you typically be doing a water-cooled, thermal ablation procedure (CRF)? I'm an Electrical Engineer who spent my career in Silicon Valley developing novel medical devices, including RF generators for performing ablation procedures. What device and probe do you recommend for a pudendal nerve? The IR doctor I'll be seeing has never done ablation on this nerve. What is your treatment protocol? Ive read what's offered is typically 45V, 2Hz, with a 20ms burst of RF each cycle for 120 seconds. What would you do for a pudendal nerve? His PA told me he wants to use cryoablation. How would you feel about that if you were me, and knowing that you really only have ONE chance at lasting effects from any ablation procedure? PubMed has a paper by Dr. John Prologo where he claims everyone he hes treated for pudendal neuralgia using cryoablation still have significant pain relief 4 years after his treatment, which is very different than the typical 2 cycles of 2 - 3 minutes of cooling. He does 8 minutes, then a 4 minute pause, then another 8 minutes of ice ball creation.
FYI-My ablation was not with this doctor or at this clinic!! I had it done for a third time today. The first two procedures went well and provided 90%-100% pain relief for several months both times. Today my ablation was done by a doctor “in training” and it was horribly painful! It was as if he hadn’t used any numbing medication AT ALL!! I felt every stick, needle adjustment, etc. on all 6 nerves treated and even the 176° F heat from the actual ablation. My best advice is to KNOW your doctor and REFUSE to let anyone else do the procedure. I finally made it home but have had an excruciating headache since the procedure. If I don’t get as much pain relief this time, I probably won’t do it again (in spite of the fact that I know my experience today is very rare).
am scheduled to have my 2nd Medial Branch Block on June 3rd, 2024, my first one I got good results , after doing the pain score for the first 6 hours after it, I had a 90% relief from pain! So I am in hopes will get the same relief on my 2nd Medial Branch Block so I can have the the RFA procedure done ! My pain is lower back, L4 & L5, I do have some arthritis also my pain doctor says, sometimes I have the worst pain on my left side which is where the doctor sees the arthritis. I am a 67 year old woman from N.C.
30 years of pain shots pain pills staying up all night pt back surgery i so hope this works 😢😢
Why are they taking so long to fill the pump
I have a pain pump put in a geisinger hospital in South Wilkes-Barre it's about 20 days later they still haven't filled the pump I'm still in pain and still taking pain pills I'll understand this
I'm in Wyoming on Wyoming workers comp and want a "direct visualized rhizotomy." Anybody know where I can get one???? I'm male, 64 years old, dealing with lumbar for 30 years, no cutting yet.
great idea
Just had my second procedure. First one lasted 10 months, and I knew that night it worked perfect. I had site pain, but the pain I had been experiencing was gone.
I have made an appointment with a new doctor who comes highly recommended. He's a specialist in pain management in the neck, knees and spine. He's more than just a pain management doctor but isn't a surgeon. I don't trust the other clinic anymore in their choice of doctors. Funny how all of a sudden my doctor was relocating across the state. I still have Sciatica nerve pain.
My pain management doctor did this to my back a month ago and something went very wrong. She had me on my stomach and before she started the ablation she said she had to do a " Test " . She put some needles , probes or something into my back on the right side of my middle back and suddenly it felt like she had a freaking drill in my back and the pain was so horrible that I was screaming for her to stop !! She stopped but only for a few minutes then she continued but the pain was not as bad but still exstreamly painful. Then she said she was finished with the test and put numbing medicine into my back and did the ablation. It was still painful. By the time I walked outside to my suv the pain in my back was so bad that I couldn't raise my right leg to get into my vehicle. My husband had to help me . I went straight home and had to go to bed. The pain only became worse and has not gotten better even though she put me on various so called pain relievers. Lidocaine patches, Diclofenac cream, hydrocodone 5 every 8 hours and Prednisone 20 mil. Gabapentin, ice and heat pads. Nothing is helping my pain. It constantly feels like a huge knife in my back and any forward bending what so ever makes it so much worse. I couldn't get any answers from the doctor as to what could have caused it. She was evasive and two weeks after she did this she has moved to the other end of the state. I spoke to another patient of hers and she said that this doctor hurt her badly too. This doctor was a last minute replacement for our Urologist/pain management doctor who treated my spine for 7 years and never hurt me like she has. He retired after 30 years of practice. 2 weeks before she did the ablation she gave me pain medication injections that helped my pain 80 percent. But right after the injection of my right back area by the time I got outside to my suv sharp pain was so bad that I couldn't climb into my vehicle to drive and my husband had to lift me into the vehicle. By the time we got home I couldn't hardly walk because of the pain. It took a week for the pain to go away. Then my pain was better and so she followed with the ablation. Funny thing is that two days after she did the ablation on my right back she did the left side and after I complained about what happened on my right she said she still had to do a test before the ablation. I told her it better not hurt like it did on my right. Well it was not very painful at all which confused me. What did she do differently from my other side?? I was never able to get any answers before she left. A week after the ablation she had me come in and she put 7 injections of some kind of medication that was supposed to help my pain but it didn't work. She isn't a neurologist, just a pain management doctor. So now the clinic has replaced her with another doctor whom I have not been allowed to talk to. I had a follow-up last week and it was with the nurse who didn't give me any answers either. No one will talk to me about what happened to cause this degree of pain that nothing is helping and isn't getting better.
Can a patient be put to sleep before the procedure?
Hi Doctor/ Anyone - is RFA can be used to treat chronic scrotal pain?Has anyone done RFA for it, please comment!
I am scheduled in a couple of weeks and am concerned about pain afterward. But I am am looking forward to the pain relief. Thank you for the video
How did it go?
My thoughts are anything inserted into our bodies is worrying. Although I have two replaced knees, I still have pain. Chronic pain patients respond best to opiates but the government crackdown has meant the suffering of millions, the deaths of thousands worldwide because of undertreated pain. Be very careful of these implants.
Can that be used for carpal tunnel?
After being in back pain for over 25 years, this scares me to death.
This was the best video I’ve seen on the topic
Thank you. I’m having this done in a couple weeks on my saphenous nerve due to chronic pain from an old fracture/hardware and the hardware couldn’t be removed. The initial diagnostic injection lasted 6 weeks with almost 100% pain gone. I’m nervous about the ablation but hoping it works for a long time!!
Hello friend how you doing now?? Did it work?
@@its_ari5458hi! The procedure was easy! Just the numbing part hurt. It’s been a little over a week since the procedure and I haven’t experienced any pain relief yet. They said it could take a few weeks even up to a month to feel relief so I’m keeping my fingers crossed
I've been getting this done for years in Ontario Canada. Things that I've learned: 1) Try to be well rested and relaxed the night before: go in a pool/hot tub, loosen the back muscles before getting needles in them. 2) Also ice / cold compresses post procedure seems better than heat. It's already inflammed, don't make it worse with heat. 3) If you travel for the procedure (like a 4-hour or more drive), I recommend getting back home before the lidocaine (freezing) wears off (about 8-hours). It's no fun hitting bumps with no freezing after they've been poking around in there. 4) I prefer extra pain medication prior to the procedure so that it "kicks in" right before I get it done. It reduces anxiety and allows you to relax. The more tense you are, the more it tends to hurt.
Yeah, lets find out how many of these pump pushers have one implanted in THEIR body!!! I'm betting ZERO.😏😏😡😡
I am having Mild procedure.
Tell us about your experiences
After three surgeries on my spine with little pain relief, my pain doctor implanted a morphine pump, on a low dose. He assured me I would not get addicted, as long as I followed his directions. After three years it malfunctioned, and I went into hard, agonizing, nightmarish seizures. He tried to correct it with oral morphine, but it made no difference. The episodes lasted for about six months--some for as long as 12 days--followed by several more months of feeling as if I had two cases of the flu. It was absolutely debilitating. I told the doctor to remove the pump, and he finally did, against his strong advice. I now control pain with Meloxicam. I believe the pain pump should be used in cases of terminal illness, but not for everyday pain. We don't avoid pain; we postpone it. And the pain of withdrawals and seizures was a hundred times worse than the pain of the original injury.
there is no way you should have went through a withdrawal because the pump quit working! It was because your old pain that the pump was taking care of came back, or the medicine was bad, and I seen that before.
@@arnie1005 I know what the old orthopedic pain felt like. It never brought on nightmarish seizures. This was terrible opioid withdrawals, along with the old injury pain. He changed out the med, and it made no difference. When someone is on morphine for years, and it suddenly stops, that person is going to go through withdrawals.
What happens with the muscles around the nerve? That’s what they forget to tell you.
This was really good
Continued: I received shots and took prednisone daily so I could get out of bed and walk. The pain was caused because 3 of my vertebrae collapsed and of course that meant my discs collapsed or that my vertebrae is now compacting my disc. I am in tremendous pain ALL DAY LONG 24/7. I have Osteoporosis so the surgeon said he will not be able to do surgery and sent me to the pain clinic. I did the two tests and had my appointment for the ablation but as I mentioned paragraphs earlier was to scared to do it because of the bladder issue
I was informed by my spine surgeon said there “IS” a possibility that you can loose control of you Bladder. I have also read comments of some women who “DID”Loose control of their Bladder. I was scheduled for this procedure but cancelled it due to this information. I have also read comments that after the procedure they had more pain that would not stop. ALSO, some people had the nerve endings grow back in 3 months, 6 months 1 year and one person 10 years and still waiting. Do you have any comment for me regarding this information? I believe the needles for my ablation were on each side of L-2-L3, L3-L4, L-4-L5. If there were to be a problem with loosing control of your bladder which place would it make it SAFER…NOT TO HAVE The needle placed.?????? I HOPE YOU WILL RESPOND. I am in a terrible place. I took care of my husband for 2 months and then my son who was in an accident for 2 months. While doing this my back started hurting so bad I went to my doctor in pain at about Level 10 in tears. I received shots and took
When I went for an Intrathecal Pain Pump... They made me stop with oral pain medication... I was on 100mcg Fentanyl Transdermal System... Every two days... Was working... The Intrathecal Pain Pump surgery failed... The Doctor(?) Couldn't get the catheter up in place... Said that he tried to get it in 6 or 7 tries... Then... After the Failed Surgery... He said... "Lets get an MRI of the Thoracic Spine"... "To find out why I couldn't get the catheter into my Intrathecal Spinal Space"... My thoughts when he said that was... Why didn't you do that BEFORE... You damaged my spine... Shoving the catheter up into my Intrathecal space... 6 or 7 times... I have had much more debilitating Pain... As well as much more Nerve damage as it is affecting all my nerve responses... I am now stuck in a wheelchair... With NO QUALITY of life... I can't lay down nor sit in a regular chair... I went back to the pain management at the local VA... That I have to go to... The New doctor that I saw... Called me a drug addict... Said that my pain would "GO AWAY"... After weaning off the pain medication... DOH!!! I have gone to outside pain management... They had me sign a waiver.... Stating that I know that they will NOT be able to control my pain... Because of the medication that I needed... Fentanyl Transdermal System... Seems that there are no Doctors willing to take on new patients that require Fentanyl Transdermal System for pain... So... I was forced to get the the shot... The first procedure was a test... To find out if it will help... I ended up in the hospital for a week... When in the hospital... The Doctors and Nurses would step into the room... They would say that I look like I was in alot of pain... The treatment I had... Was a social worker guarding me 24hrs around the clock... To be sure that I was safe... My life is a living hell... I now have a Heart Condition/Damage... From my pain NOT being properly treated... On top of everything else... So yea... Make sure that "THEY CAN DO THE PROCEDURE"... BEFORE THEY TAKE YOU OFF YOUR MEDICATIONS... As you may not be able to have what you need... AFTERWARDS... Once your off proper pain management... It is impossible to return to the nessesary treatments...
Hey Jackie! I am super interested in your profession. I wanna be a Medical massage therapist like you. Could you please tell me where to start from?
Does the patient lay on there back when doing the surgery?
I had the Intrathecal Pain Pump installed on 08May23 here in Colorado. My question is this: Is it only designed to work in a certain area of the spine or is it designed to deliver pain relief to the entire spine? If it's supposed to provide complete pain relief, then it's not working for me.
If someone is in chronic pain from his back injury , is there any test that would keep him from getting the pump, if he has had the pump in the pass?
Could this method be used for chronic coccyx pain?
