Double Bounce Poles - Riding Exercise
Переглядів 206Рік тому
Poles Set 9’ apart or Bounce poles. I like this set up for several reasons; 1. It can be used in all 3 gaits without needing to change the distances. 2. It can be tailored to most skill sets, level of fitness and ability. 3. Can be ridden, lunged or worked in-hand. Why; 1. Stepping over ground poles set at a pre-determined distance encourages the horse to take even, straight steps. 2. Polework ...
A Small Step or Slope to Activate Small Spinal Muscles

Pantyhose for Your Horse’s Nose.

Some horses really hate flies and like, this horse, can become erratic and difficult to handle or ride when they have to deal with them. This can be a cause of head flipping, that can be annoying or even dangerous to be around. One solution is to use fly nets and although they sell them for face, neck and body cover, I have yet to find a commercial solution for the muzzle area. This is where a ...

This is sort of a cross between memories for me of schooling here and an explanation of why I have this set up and why its such a good set up to have, whether it’s for dressage horses that don’t jump, a not jumping day/flat day for jumping horses a footwork day for a young horse, it’s versatile and worth being set up and used, even though most people don’t tend to set aside a semipermanent pole...

    Hi! I’m considering going to school to become an Equine Massage Therapist. How difficult was is it to find clientele? Do most schools offer business courses or guidance when it comes to this?

    • @VanessaKoper
      @VanessaKoper 3 роки тому

      Yes, I think it is difficult to find clientele. I think that it helps if you have a personality that people are drawn to. The other great way to acquire them is by studying under someone who has more than they can handle or who might be retiring soon and you could take over from them. But I think if you persevere and prove how good you are, eventually you’ll build a business. That said, I think everyone in horses should know about massage therapy and it’s benefits and that everyone in horses should understand the theory and mechanics behind it. It’s basic “vehicle “ maintenance that should go along with grooming, healthy exercise, nutrition, competition, farrier etc.

      Thanks Mike, yes, I am planning to do a series of 5 different strokes and some supporting videos around them. It’s very hot right now so it’s a challenge to video and do it how I wish to. I do like to watch his eyes for blinking and expressions to judge his reaction. I think if I do it well, the reward is the work itself. I haven’t done bodywork work on a trail yet, but sometimes if I’m working a horse in the ring and I can see something I can fix with some attention, I will stop and help the issue before I carry on. I think that’s the wonderful thing about massage - I can help muscle issues on the ground so they don’t have to continue the problem when the horse works. If you don’t interrupt the cycle, it’s just a circle that makes itself worse in time. If I can alleviate the issue, we can help the horse move on past it

    Awesome job Vanessa !! horses really seem to be comfortable with your touch and bodywork can tell you pay attention to there bodies reaction to your work , is there eye contact to read ? or are they able to sense or smell your mood ? of which effects there reaction to relax or become easier or harder to work with ? just curious as they are so large and you seem to have such control of them and are able to have them do whatever you desire . hope you rewarded Raz with a massage today as well on fathers day lol cheers
