One Thousand Days in Oman - Timelapse
Montage of time-lapse films I have taken over the last three years. Most were just taken at opportune moments, often on weekends camping out in the wilderness. The mountains, deserts, wadis and coastlines are unlike anywhere else on this earth. And if you are reading this and live in Oman, go and spend your next weekend exploring this vast and beautiful country.
Locations: Fins Beach; Salmah Plateau; Wadi Arbaeen; Wadi Mistall; Wadi Tanuf; Misfat Arbreen; Wadi Ghul; Jebel Shams Summit; Wahiba Sands; Ruwi, Muscat; Bausher, Muscat; Wadi Sahtan; Wadi Bani Auf; Sugar Dunes; Masirah Island.
Filmed using a Canon 600d, and my trusty Go Pro 3+

Timelapse of the awesome stretch of road from Nakhl into Wadi Bani Kharus (entering at 1:50). Also the first time I have mounted a GoPro on the bonnet rather than the dashboard. Overall better quality than some of my other timelapse videos, despite the vibrations of the bonnet on the hire car.

Great adventure. Very well done video....thanks enormously for touring oman 🇴🇲
Hi there! I live in Oman too and would love to learn more about this route. Would be willing to share the exact roads you drove?

Beautiful place, imposing mountain, and a very deep canyon.
great video

Beutiful highways..
amazing !! which Wadi is this? are you still living in Oman ?
Wadi Arbaeen. It's off the main road between Quriyat and Sur. Well sign posted. It's a six hour round trip from the village to the hidden waterfall. Take the right fork of the canyon (keeping village on your left), scramble up to the Falaj and then follow your nose. Sadly no longer living in Oman. I do miss it!
hi this is a great video, Did you'll go on your own or with a guide? This does not seem to be the main Wadi bani Khalid spot. Any information on this would be great. . Thanks in advance
We didn't go with a guide. Just me and some work friends. It's the other end of Wadi Bani Khalid, further downstream from the tourist spot. We started from the bottom and hiked up and down the canyon, which is do-able without any climbing gear. Click the link below for the start point. From the village head north up the canyon - again, start by following the Falaj :-) Dropped pin Near Ash Sharqiyah North Governorate, Oman maps.app.goo.gl/iE7UVn9CTNWZHG7u8
j0n1n0man great thanks so much for the location and direction, is it advisable with kids ( 5 -7 years but they are used to trekking and swimming)
@@herbycandy Hmm, it's quite a long trek from the village to some decent pools. Lots of swimming too. I think your five year old would struggle a bit. I would probably take your kids to Wadi Arbaeen instead. About 40 minutes from the last village there are some lovely pools, jumps etc. Easy access via Falaj on left hand side of the right canyon. See video below, when I took my nephew's there in 2016. ua-cam.com/video/Gpe5unLA5G4/v-deo.html
Hi guys, we are planning to go there and we absolutely want your guide. Do you have any contact?? Thx
Hello. Contact "Juma" on +968 9970 9304. The guide is a friend of Juma's. FYI, we took all our own gear (wet suits, abseiling equipment etc...). There is lot of swimming as well - at least 4km worth. Good luck.
@@j0n1n0man3 fantastic, thank a lot
I miss Oman 😐
Luckily ive seen all this with my naked eyes
Cool 😂❤
Nice video and awesome place
From which location u filmed ??
ARSH KOTHARI The lay-by on the Mountain Road.
how long of a rope do i need to take for the Abseiling ?
mohammed alraisi I would take at least a 30 metre rope. There is a big 15 metre drop near the start, then lots of smaller 8 - 10 metre drops. Make sure you enlist a local guide, and start walking very early in the morning (before 6am). The full trek can take up to 12 hours. Also, I recommend packing wet suits and floats as there is 4km+ of swimming. Best of luck.
thank you for the replay.... so its not that high not like wadi ta'ab ... will try to do it next month and hopefully do it in less then 12 hours
which city did you start trip?
ua-cam.com/users/sule261
his nice shoot bro I like it
Where did you view this and at white time of the year? Thanks.
Beautiful and blessed
more than great
Hello, could you please tell if there is a clear path to the water fall ?
Fernando Santamarta Park at the village and take the right fork of the canyon. Climb up to the Falaj (on either side) and follow it 1km to where the canyon narrows. You will need to swim through several pools before canyon widens. Then, follow your nose for 1.5 hours, climb up the fixed rope, then another 30 mins to the waterfall. Start early and take plenty of water. Good luck.
Thanks, we will try to contact him
Hi, we will go to this place next week. Can you recomend somebody who is organzing this tour and where you can rent the equipment? Thanks in advance!!!!
Uwe Dietrich Contact Juma on +968 9970 9304. We used our own equipment, so not sure where you would hire from. Wetsuits and good abseiling equipment are a must. Also a lot of swimming, about 3.5km, so you wish to take floats. In total it took us around 11 hours, starting from Umq Bir and finishing in Mibam. The earlier you can start the better. Good luck! J
was the route dangerous at all
realy nice vid ... keep on
nice clip thanks for the share :-)
👌👌i am so excited to go there
Nizwani4ever it's amazing! I highly recommend taking a local guide and some abseiling equipment, some of the drops were quite challenging :-)
Nizwani4ever you will sink there... be careful
Alaa 2 😂😹😂😹😂 u will be my life jacket
Nizwani4ever Its 4km of swimming altogether. You will def want a float!
bravo
This is a different route than going up to the Alila Jabal Akhdar, right? At the end the road looked a little scary, and I thought it was paved all the way up to the Alila hotel!
amazing view
Super nice. Bravo.
Wow
Wow
can you say the route to this waterfall from wadi arbaeen?
good u did it again..this wadi specially has alots of snaks .when i went i found 4
Great video! Loved the music
oh great ...but i cant get acess to see the privious video
Ah, I need to change the music as it is blocked in certain countries. We made it 3km past the waterfall, almost to the next village.
Great keep it up
good adventure and edition ..but if u continuo the road of adventure u will get a big waterfall and
Thanks! I have made it to the waterfall (and indeed past the waterfall - see previous videos). Unfortunately a bit too far for the kids on this occasion :-)
Nice
going with my brother and 2 sons in a few weeks ,can't wait!!!
It's a great video! Thank you for sharing! We plan to go this weekend (November 29 - 30). Will it be too cold to swim through the canyon? What would be your suggestion?
+Daungyewa Utarasint Thanks! It shouldn't be too cold, considering we went only 3 weeks ago. Try to start early-mid morning and make sure it isn't cloudy when you go in. Enjoy!
