Speak Up For Work
Приєднався 4 лис 2014
There is no bigger challenge today than the need to reverse growing income inequality, stalled wages, and the shortage of good quality jobs and careers for the next generation workforce. Baby boomers don’t want to leave their children and grandchildren in a worse situation than their parents left them, and next generation workers are trying to start their careers and families. We can reverse these trends, but it’ll take a lot of work-individual and collective. We’ll need to be well informed about labor market realities and their causes, but not trapped by the way things were done in the past.
Speak Up For Work is designed to start an honest conversation between America’s next generation workers and business, government, labor and education leaders, to figure out how each group can play its part in creating the future of work. Speak Up For Work will explore these issues through video interviews, panel discussions, negotiation simulations, and online courseware.

Your life will likely be so much happier for ignoring the puppet show. Not blindly following the herd because you're "supposed to" is seemingly a rare gift. Enjoy it and watch the jones plantation, even though you've already worked out the point being made in the movie.
I had a gold 1998 Saturn SL2 sedan myself for 5 years. Very reliable car but I wanted an SUV so I got me a Honda CR-V same color as my Saturn since it matched my khakis I frequently wear and it’s also reliable in the winter too
I can honestly say without a doubt hands down my little 2006 Saturn Ion level 3 has been the most dependable vehicle I've ever owned since I started driving at 16 and I'm 50 now this little car that I am sitting in now in a Barnes and Nobles parking lot texting this comment as we speak has never left me stranded and if anything this little girl My Little Green Wonder has put up with more s*** for me and still keeps going and I don't understand why a lot of it because of my resilience right now as I have nothing else to drive and my lack of income causes me to run this little gem Go Wonder to the ground and I'm sad to say that and I'm hoping that I will soon find a buyer to take her off my hands and put the invested work that needs to be put into it and keep it roadworthy because she's worth it! You see being on a fixed income and having no credit trying to build my credit it's just been hard to swing Both Worlds and keep up on the maintenance and since this was purchased in 2021 it's now been 4 years that I haven't been able to do anything to it so my brakes are almost gone my exhaust fell off then my catalytic converter fell off because I keep neglecting a check engine light to replace my spark plugs that I filed which caused my Fuel and oxygen ratio run array it's not mixing right and it's causing a lot of carbon so all that pressure I believe blew my catalytic converter off now I'm just driving with the header pipe connected it's pretty loud and I use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle so I pretty much run it about down to the ground and can I just tell you that this little car has 256,000 miles on it it starts everyday it purrs like a kitten it shifts like butter and it's never burnt a drop of oil and I guarantee you this will go another $256,000 MI if I can hurry up and sell it to the right person anyways I've kept everything inside nice and clean I don't drink my vehicles I just can't take care of this one at the time of my life which is sad because I know this little car would be definitely worth it it's a great little four-cylinder engine 2.2 Ecotec for the sunroof pretty damn good stereo system I might add power everything except for the seats those are manual it's hot hot in the winter when you want to warm up quick and it's ice cold cold in the summer when you want to turn the AC on this little car is just built on a high standards of quality I suppose you could say because why else would something that you neglect so much still run like it does it runs without a second thought it doesn't sputter spit or hesitate it goes and goes quick when you step on the gas and you can feel the transmission in sink it's just unbelievable how well built these vehicles are it's like the engine and transmission both communicate very well with each other like their best little friends and you can feel it when you drive you can feel that that performance and it down shifts going up the hills all by itself giving it more power and on the highway it passes other vehicles that you wouldn't think this little car could do but it does and it doesn't hesitate at all I cannot get over how great this little car is I only wish I could afford to put the work into it there there's my input and that's how I feel about these vehicles and like I said if any comment in here can be proof in the pudding about how well the quality of these cars were built in perform at I am your number one guy to ask and come see because like I said I'm in it and now texting this comment smiling knowing that I only have probably two more weeks with her before my old man relinquishes his Sebring to me that has been maintained properly and isn't going to kill me while this little car will sit in my father's yard waiting for a seller I can tell you this for a fact as long as it sits it will not rust either LMAO! If I could ask for more money I would just because of the dependability behind the engine and the transmission alone is well worth a granted two grand to me but in all practicality and can't do that we're talking 2024 and this is a 2006 I'll probably ask $300 and if I don't get it then I want the person who's buying it to be looking me in the eye and telling me they're going to do their best to get it back to where it needs to be to last where I know could run another 256,000 MI I purchased the car with 212,000 miles on it and it looked brand spanking new 4 years ago so I put 40.000 on myself in 4 years myself!. I really enjoyed this video It gave me a nice story to put with my experience and provide me with a lot more appreciation for what I had and respect for with the miles that's carried me through my neglect I have to say without a doubt that this has been the best vehicle I've ever owned in my whole entire life before this vehicle I would have told you my 1986 Toyota Celica was the best vehicle ever driven yes that was a beautiful little car and that was a great little Dependable little car but the engine seized on me on Highway 19 in Florida from Maine I can honestly say this engine in the Saturn would have outdone that little car any day it might not be as pretty it might not feel as cool and it might not be as popular but why do you need popular when you can have dependability when dependability gets you from.A2.B pretty is as Pretty does and pretty gets old and pretty can die dependability, well that's strong and to the Core and runs on commitment, it's the commitment that drives the value and that value to me is priceless and so weren't the employees at Saturn so from my heart to yours thank you and God bless you for doing the right thing and sharing some collective in this world that it is possible to create a product that's built for the people not just for the market and their shares to fill the big CO's pockets you guys had Pride and I'm proud to say I enjoyed a product of it
They they shouldn’t have stopped making Saturns they were affordable cheap
UAW /Dems Ruined American Car Industry.
I own a 08 Aura
I'm selling mine 2006
Saturn NEVER made money, THE END.
Susan Docherty And Mary Barra were the ladies that killed GM.
Greedy and corrupt Unions, the parasite that lowers productivity and adds cost to everything.

got the exact video searching for
working at Saturn was not what they want you to believe it was , a lot of workers were nothing but management suck asses, they would stab you in the back and screw you out of overtime if they could, the local 1853 union acted like management, they (union) had their golden employees and would actually threaten to fire you if you tried to stand up against them, they would hand pick people for jobs , even though there were better candidates with more seniority. the union president actually wanted to withdraw from the UAW, he was a real bum.. i worked there from 1990 - 2000 happiness is Saturn in your rear view mirror I my eyes , Saturn got what it deserved
This actually sounds like the real story!
Very good and funny videos bring a great sense of entertainment!
The 3000 years of work made me tired. Now going to sleep:)
HMMM yes the floor here is made out of floor.
This guy is kinda capitalist not gonna lie
Come back saturn it's 2021
They always forget about Geo.
They did not let saturn develop more cars after the L series came out.
Also GM only cared about profit and did not find saturn by 2007 as profitable as chevy,GMC,buick, and cadillac.
GM ruined them with badge engineering and so many parts bin cars like the Vue,Outlook,Relay,Aura,Ion in the 90s Saturn was very reliable but by the mid to late 2000s their cars like vue, outlook and aura with the 3.6 v6 had so many issues and shared engines and transmissions with so many cars. Also the other brands of GM got jealous of saturn's special individual treatment and saturn owners were proud in the 90s to own them but by the time saturn made their last car they lost all originality.
The unions sabotaged Saturn from the inside, and this is what we get. More crappy American cars
I owned a couple Saturns and they were great. GM really fucked up on this one. I think it would have survived as a model under Oldsmobile.
The Saturn was originally planned to be sold by Chevrolet. The early prototypes even looked like a shrunken Chevy Cavalier. The whole concept of a completely separate division and dealer network (lunacy and a short con) came later in the Saturn’s protracted eight-year development.
Saturn sucked and they’re badge was in attractive
Woul be nice
How much profit did it earn?
andai de la maraka
Rode like go carts and rattled . I never got the hype .
The union happened. Obama solved that by bailing out the company with U.S. tax dollars and then GIVING controlling interest to the union that destroyed it. I'll never own a GM product. NEVER. I'll walk first.
So General Motors ruins everything
I bought a brand new 2002 Saturn SL that lasted me 14 years. Aside from it burning oil, which all Saturns did, it was a decent car AND it was a stick shift. My issue was I didn't really start to take care of it until about 8 years down the road. But I always said that I was gonna drive it til the wheels fell off and I did so no regrets. Finally lost a cylinder so had to junk it. Funny story was that I had worked at Saturn of Augusta GA BEFORE buying the car. My experience working there is what made me want to buy one in the first place.
These uneducated dimwits couldn't screw a car together properly if their lives depended on it and GM builds junk as cheaply as possible. THAT is why Saturn failed.
This is good my kid is doing homework
Well, I tell you I believe it was jealousy from UAW and upper management. Te Saturn fokes did things a different way, they had been allowed to build better products on the line and get a bonus for doing so. This might sound counterintuitive that that the UAW would want to ruin that but the old ways are hard to change for most. The people who liked not having a lot of skin in the game didn't like this new system. Forced them to work, make decisions that they would be accountable for. They're the types of just wanting to punch tbe clock. The Saturn way was too different to them. Add to it GM was losing billions.. The "New GM" would have been better off looking back at Saturn and take some serious lessons.
Creating a new brand (As if they didn't have enough of them) with GM money (Credit, but anyway, billions and billions) to buid basically a single car (Or ending up cannibalizing the old brands, one or the other), was absurd and bond to fail. That's the bottom line.
I went to a Saturn showroom, sat in the car, took one for a test drive. It was underwhelming. It was like GM's other small cars -- relatively cramped, rough engine character. It did not compare well with Hondas and Toyotas of the period. It was heavily hyped to loyal GM repeat buyers, who already had low expectations. But it didn't convince people who had experience the better quality and engineering of the Japanese competing models. There always has been and always will be people who buy GM, Ford, and Chrysler products because they believe it is their patriotic duty. That's what GM was counting on. There just weren't enough of them.
No, a vast number of people had no idea Saturn was a GM product and never would have purchased one if they had known.. This was well reported at the time. They would have purchased an import but didn't because the Saturn was made in the US and, for the first year or two was competitive. Then, like so many of GM's cars, it was left to rot with a cosmetic restyling. Development of the 95 J Body Cavalier and Sunfire actually included study of Saturn's methods. By 95 and after Roger Smith retired GM was holding off pouring more money into Saturn because it's other divisions were being starved of development money. Their main selling points were the polymer panels which wouldn't rust and ding and the no haggle pricing as well as the simplicity of build and service and lack of dealer techniques that would antagonize a buyer.
Seems that the GM low quality lives on because of the profit now mentality instead of sticking with what worked initially at the start. Now days GM reliability in all their product lines show there is no pride in making their products. They look good the first 60k miles then they start to fall apart and GM deserves themselves same fate for how they make things. Should have never bailed any car company out back when they did.
Frickin GM killed Saturn through continual mismanagement, just like they did to Saab.
Do you get the hint Greedy Motors
GM killed Saturn because their better business structure , made GM’s chaotic structure look bad.
Highly inaccurate.

My saturn ion keeps on trucking. It's nothing exceptional, but it's far from garbage. 6/10 for me. Its comparable to a Toyota Corolla. It runs and drives, and does so for a long time
Umm planned agreement dump? all those relocated GM workers forced to work at Spring Hill were the ones who voted to dump it.
And I still have my Homecoming 1994 SL2
Cool!!!
Worked for Saturn of Ellicott city I was sent for training down to Spring Hill I watched the second generation SC2 I had to sign an agreement that I couldn’t say anything about it
Saturn should have branched off on it's own. I miss my 1995 SC2 stick.
