All of the modular tow bar and caravan mounts use the same two pin pivot mounts. For a tow bar with a flat tongue and standard 50mm tow ball, you just specify the iSi Tow Ball/Tongue mount. We supply a high tensile bolt to replace the tow ball and also has rotation stops to prevent the loaded carrier from turning about the tow ball in the event of an emergency swerving manoeuvre. There are a whole stack of different modular mounts that the guys will select for the ideal configuration. It's really easy Chris.

Hey Kelli, apologies for any hassle. The hitch stabilser needs to be installed a certain way so when you have a moment, shoot a message off to the guys and they'll sort it out for you. www.isi-carriers.com/contact.html. As an aside, we actually use a special 51mmx51mm stinger tube instead of the cycling industry standard 50mmx50mm tube so that helps if the stabiliser isn't used. Regardless, when installed correctly, uncontrolled movement in roll and yaw is eliminated but with slight vertical float in pitch for hammering hard over corrugations. Anyway, when you make contact, you'll find the guys very helpful.

Stacks of different applications really Robert and by keeping the bikes tight to the rear, above the vehicle departure angle, below the roof and within the side profile of the car, the bikes remain protected. The carrier itself is built for dynamic operational parameters that exceed those of the vehicles. I guess the whole idea behind this product is to never having to worry about the bikes and to be able to use all your concentration as a driver to get through the tough bits. It's a good gig when you can relax and drive.

We made our own way Andre to take in 4WD, management and mtb tracks whilst respecting Parks Vic directives to avoid walkers-only tracks. The only bit of road was a short section to get onto Pennyroyal track and falls. Starting from the cnr of Woodland Track and Forest Rd, south to salt creek diversion around the Alcoa plant, Currawong falls where there's a sneaky water tap in the day area to top up, then west to the town of Forrest for food, drinks and the most hospitable campground. Finally south to Wye River. Make sure that your brakes are up to it. Endless descent at hero speeds..... All up about 150km and more climbing than we care to remember.

Great fun John. Poor Zac has been dragged over all sorts of remote tracks and trails ever since he was a baby. The dynamic has evolved though. Now it's Zac waiting at the top of the next hill yelling "Are you okay Dad?"

Good point Phil as this applies to all sorts of equipment. Security is an interesting thing in terms of human behavior. I find the most practical is a good quality bicycle security cable and pad lock. Looped through the bicycle frames, through the carrier and pivot base and then secured to the vehicle chassis. Locks the bikes to the carrier and then the carrier to the car. This is a highly effective solution because it discourages the opportunistic thief and does not tempt the honest man. If you go overboard, you present a challenge to a would-be vandal. Conversely, covert or subdued security does not discourage until after they have attempted theft. After all these years we have never had a problem - even overnight in Halls Creek. The only thing is that you should never drive with the security cable attached. If anything is going to snag a branch or rock it'll be the cable.

Hello AAFTTP. The iSi extreme duty carrier is specifically designed for harsh off-road use. There are a stack of special features built into the bicycle carrier specifically to address these operational and loading conditions for up to four bicycles. Briefly, the carrier is rigid and light for off road use. The iSi hitch stabiliser locks the carrier solid in yaw and roll but with a degree of float in pitch for hammering over corrugations at high speed. For bicycle loading, offset vertical support posts with wheel cradles that adjust in height and width at each wheel of each bicycle deliver adjustment in all three planes. Unlike platform racks, the bike positions follow the departure angle for the carrier to eliminate hub to hub and crank to crank clearance issues.
