Some of my embarks would have pools of shallow water. These were mostly just irritating until a goblin army would all invariably drown in them without my soldiers setting foot outside the base

Its alot better than when you gen a world, play some forts on it, then realize the world is missing something really important. Or you want to add a mod but cant unless you regen.

Imagine reloading a save just because your expedition leader melted lmao. They're all expendable, even legendary miner, legendary hammerdwarf, legendary weaponsmith fella. He merely gets a fuckawesome tomb made from polished steel and gold statues encrusted with diamonds for his trouble. His replacement is already in training.
I recently loaded into a terrifying environment and I've learned this the hard way lol. More memorials on my map than dwarves in the first year.

Simple trick I learned elves dont want you to know is digging a hole to open up flow on the z-level below, so you dig the whole moat then dig out 1 - square from above to open flow.

@@f_n_tic From what I understand: Werebeasts are building Destroyers so a wooden door will not work once they patch Property Damage back in.
Get Perfect world, its a tool usable for the old and premium edition that lets you craft your own landmass and everything, You only have to export the generation paramater you create into DF
I’ll check it out, been meaning to download DF Hack and some other tools.
@@soothingsloth This is much like that, it wont directly alter the game itself by modding it, it just uses its own code to bypass the DF one. I've always been bugging about my own worlds man, untill i started using perfect world, it lets ya do the things normal world gen doesnt allow, like mountains directly next to a sea. By litteraly allowing you to paint mountains. The tool is less complicated then DF world generation advanced paramaters, but a bit more complicated then therapist. Im confident though any dwarf fortress player can figure it out. My only tip for using the tool, dont fuck with volcanism map paramaters, just type 200/200 volcanos if you want that many in the normal map paramaters.
@@TheEpicKomrads it's weird. To an extent I just enjoy making worlds and checking them out in legends to see it's story. A couple nights ago I spent like 2 hours doing this lol. Might have to drop a "Chill Lofi beats for building DF Worlds" video.

I wish you could warn your dwarves and tell them to run away so these things wouldn’t happen.
I wish you could name your worlds instead of them being called random gibberish.
This is why you don’t fill your moat with water and instead just make it a pitfall. Swimmers can’t cross it and your dwarves have a better chance of surviving the fall.
Undead ghouls are a menace man. Straight up snapped one of my hammerdwarves’ neck that one time.
I wish there was a way to destroy rock from afar with explosives so you wouldn’t need to sacrifice a miner every time you try to mine somewhere dangerous. (it would have to be expensive to balance it out tho)
there are safe methods of mining magma tubes you have a few options to do so but the SAFEST way is CHANNELING the walls *NOT* MINING them giving your miner an extra second for escape bonus points if you make a small water pool to immediately extinguish your dwarf if they still manage to catch fire from being too slow
Dig (channel) from above whenever possible, or cut up-slopes from under a retracting bridge (refer to DFwiki). Also carve fortifications for diagonal flows, the last miner I had who did that got away with only their dropped cloak getting burnt to a crisp.
