      Thanks for watching this yr has been a busy one for us we were in such a rush it was very hard filming with the time crunch we had to get the cabin closed in before snow fly. This yr is going to be a lot less rushed !

    Excellent finish with the Canadian flag 🇨🇦. The beauty of our land really hits home with your filming. Especially in these crazy times. Can’t wait to see ep 5 now.

    Wow the cabin is looking great! Really wish that here in Quebec we can buy land, but the laws are made to prevent us from doing it, can't even have a small camp for hunting unless you buy it from somebody else and peoples are selling it at crazy price :(

    • @Hboysoutdoors
      @Hboysoutdoors 10 днів тому

      Ya I hear ya the world makes no sense anymore. That's why ppl need to acquire land what ever means possible ....they not makin any more of it. The high ups want to own it all so freedom can't be under our own rule. They want to own us it seems

    • @Abitibi-Outdoors
      @Abitibi-Outdoors 10 днів тому

      @Hboysoutdoors yeah exactly, there's only native people that can acquire some land under their ancestor's right, beside that nobody here can. And the one that have a place for a hunting camp it's not even their own land, it's a lease, so when I see people selling this for 15000$ without any building or access, and that you are limited on what you can build, that make's me angry. Was it hard in Ontario to acquire that land ?

    • @Hboysoutdoors
      @Hboysoutdoors 10 днів тому

      @Abitibi-Outdoors it's not hard really but the bank won't lend you the full amount normally on vacant land they will only lend 50% of that unless you have something to lend against like a house. The land normally come with timber, surface and mineral rights. And if you buy way north in an unorganized township you don't need any permits for anything. So that's what we got going on we can build anything and everything so we are going to

    Hey ! Always great watching you guys livin the dream. 3 questions… Where abouts do you guys live and roughly where are you guys up north ? Also what kind of drone is that you’re using ? Looks pretty decent. Many thanks

    • @Hboysoutdoors

      We live up in cottage country most of us some of us live in Southern Ontario the property is up near Kirkland Lake in North Eastern Ontario and for drone we are running a DJI mini 3 pro with RC controller. Thanks for watching!

      @ Point Clark on Lake Huron myself. I’m getting very close to what you guys are doing. Seriously thinking NB, NS, or up your way. But seems they always get the mineral rights and usually tree rights in Ontario.

    I’m Canadian planning on building my own cabin in subarctic, northern BC. Interesting to watch how you build your timber-frame cabin. Just curious, are all you guys professional carpenters OR do you all have different full time jobs?

    • @Hboysoutdoors
      @Hboysoutdoors 15 днів тому

      Haha sweet that's awesome man you totally should! Haha none of us are carpenters but have some experience like Reno's on personal homes all well as other little projects. We are a mash up of arborists, landscapers, mechanics, basically everything but carpenters. You just gotta know your way around tools and Josh did an awesome job planning it all it starts with a dream then plan then figure out the next step. One step at a time and keep moving forward

    • @Hboysoutdoors

      hahah valid question. because we built it post frame and not stick frame we can cut in and frame the windows after the fact. We have all the windows and not enough time to install them till the spring so we left them out untill we decide where we want them all to go

    Such a solid frame well done but I’ve got 2 concerns that are bugging me, first why no plywood on the roof under the metal and 2nd those wall on the outside are they gonna hold up and last in 15-20-30 years, maybe should have put up some better siding, anyways amazing job ! Look forward to future videos cheers 🍻

    • @Hboysoutdoors
      @Hboysoutdoors 25 днів тому

      Ya valid concerns for sure the plywood thing is a cost thing as well as a getting it to the property thing being so remote we wanted to do as little runs in with our float trailer. But we will see how it holds up to the snow load. The purlins are spaced pretty close together to evenly take the weight so we will see how it holds up and the pine board and batten is quick and dirty and looks good. We will probably stain it and keep it alive a bit longer but generally speaking you do need to reside it every 5 to 10 yrs but the be honest the huge overhang we have should keep the rain off the walls. The gable ends are a different story as they will be taking heavy rain and wind. Thanks for watching! And the input

    • @chrisk4617

      Hey thanks for the reply, ya totally understandable, very remote which makes it all that much more special ! Great job keep up the good work ! Stay strong !
