    OK, so to defend this you have to change the angle, but the arm wrapping the hip prevents that. You could also try to get the inside arm between the choking arm and the neck. Or you have to prevent the leg from coming over with the far arm. All seem pretty tough and dependent on the bottom guy seeing it coming. Any advice - besides "don't let them wrap your head" :)

    • @Emiltakeuchi
      @Emiltakeuchi 2 роки тому

      In my opinion, it comes down to fighting for the under hook. If you can establish the under hook from the bottom, you have a good chance to defend. So from the top, make sure they don’t get it. Hope this helps.

      As a white belt who does this choke a lot but never has it tried on himself I can say this choke is hard to defend if you’re not aware of it but most of my frequent partners figure out pretty quickly how to change it up when I get side control and make this hard to pull off.

      It helps to have a Gi if you want to train Jiu Jitsu. If you’re just using this for mobility, you don’t need a Gi. You can use regular clothes or just form a body like shape and Wrap tight with a sheet or larger towel.

    This is much more than a warm up.. this is jiu-jitsu on your own... this improves mobility, gets the body moving as one (which is a blue belt necessity) and it helps people 'click' again, especially after long lay off in particular Covid19 lockdowns..... simply do these movements for 30mins daily along with skipping, and any BJJ practitioner will be good to go back to full training when life returns to normal.

The Tiger Routine is part of our curriculum and all instructors and students must know it, in order to develop mobility, body awareness and be explosive. Many of our techniques are based off of the movements from the Tiger Routine. I enjoy it as it helps me loosen up and stretch, especially as I get a little older.
