Senior Patrol Leader of Troop 231 here. As a whole, our crew and troop would like to give a huge thanks to @gotogoshen for being crazy enough to follow along with us to make this video. I don’t think this could have been done any better and makes us look maybe a bit cooler than we are! Hopefully some trail work could be done so more troops can share this experience. Thanks again and hopefully we will be back one day!
Another great hike at Goshen! The views are worth the hike - but as they said, bring lots of water - the humidity will really drain you. Glad to see the Scouts continuing to take these classic hikes.

Congrats to Troop 231 on a day of hard hiking a some true wilderness experiences! This particular area is recovering from wildfire and has had a lot of growth. Definitely a great service project opportunity! We periodically help organize volunteer groups to assist in maintaining some of these trails on adjoining state lands.
@@gotogoshen Yes - I did trail work there around 2006-2010 or so but moved away in 2017. Maybe I'll make it back someday.
Been to Ross the last three years. Have two sons close enough in age that 1st year was older second both and third younger camping. The staff is amazing and funny how they will remember some scouts from the previous year. Watching your kids go off in buddies at the end and seeing the confidence is amazing. From scared and nervous scouts to ok heading off to do the events on their own. We actually shared a camp with a local pack to us and created a friendly bond over the last two years. We learned from some of the methods and they from us. Last if you pick a tent get one that that the pull down vents. They are all great for the elements but camp can be hot and cold. Our first camp was 90 plus all week and even at night hot. Ours did not have those flaps. Next year learned to pick those sites out.
I have a Webelo and a Scout who both attended this summer. I was with the cub. Bringing a deck of cards or UNO cards is a huge value for the entertainment. We had bad weather and the scouts had already converted one of the unoccupied tents into their clubhouse. For our troop the scouts can bring phones but have to be powered off unless an emergency or given special permission. One thing for the pack level camp is a cheap pair of walkie talkies. Between leader meetings, first aid stops etc the adults having a basic quick way to communicate without cell phones is a huge bonus.

Yes! Scouts may need to purchase materials like kits for handicraft projects, or wish to bring home a souvenir. Slushies are also always a hit as well on hot days.
