@@Chatty_crafter hi chatty-crafter, thanks for being such a loyal viewer and commenter.
@ AWW😉
we went thru gunning last year...canberra to crookwell... it was great countryside
@@OPIXdotWORLD it really is a gorgeous town with so much history. Glad you enjoyed the video, please subscribe and share my videos with your friends and family
I think the lady meant to say at the turn of the 20th Century when referring to the old Service Station
Thanks for the video great to learn about Australian history I must visit Marulan in the future.
I’m a Feltham, my family were free settlers who arrived in 1838 and settled in Marulan.
After the War, was this not turned into a Refugee Camp, as my Daughters father was born in Cowra in 1950. He is Russian and he and his family were Refugees and were sent to Cowra.
all. Thank you.
Thank you for the video. My wife and I from time to time park our caravan at the back of the Terminus and enjoy a drink and meal there. Its nice to learn about the towns history. Cheers Chris
When st clair was a museum, it was very interesting. It had a lot of interesting things/ photos it was closed for lack of interest.
Sad to hear it closed for that reason, would love to have seen inside.
I’m watching this and I can smell the bush, bringing back lots of lovely memories.
So glad you enjoyed it, nothing like the smells and sounds oh the Australian bush especially in summer. Thanks for watching and please subscribe and share.
Thanks for the video. I have to go to Marulan from time to time. You have added some info to what I already knew. Thanks again.
Hi Stewart, thanks for watching and commenting. I’m glad you enjoyed the video and often I find that I go places and discover things even the locals didn’t know about. We have so much hidden history in Australia and I can’t wait to keep on discovering it and sharing with everyone. Don’t forget to subscribe if you haven’t already and stay tuned for more.
Nice Town Thanks for sharing!

@@SerenityTours24 hey history gal...u did very well in my opinion...dont worry about stupid old farts that complain about every little thing.. they usually only have small things on their mind
ps...9000 views...WOW...thats = viral...thats the whole populatioon of,,,marulan!!
I’m a Feltham and my Dad was bought up in Marulan, along with his Sisters. My Dad was born in Goulburn in 1929, my Auntie in 1927. From what we have been able to find out is my family came to Australia in 1838 as free settlers from I think Ireland. Neal was also a family name. I never knew my Dads Father as he was killed when my Dad was 7 or 8, So my Nanna was left a Widow raising 3 children and they later moved to Bookham and Bowning both close to Yass where my Sister and I were born. I know we still have relatives living in Goulburn and had a reunion with some of them 20 years ago and my Dad and Auntie showed us 2 houses they lived in Goulburn.
Please don't say Australia as 'Ashtralia' is so annoying.
Hi, thanks for watching and the constructive feedback. I’ll be sure to pay more attention to pronunciation moving forward. Don’t forget to subscribe if you haven’t already and keep watching.
4:33 the earthworks in the distance is presumably the Marulan mine/ Boral quarry. I haven't seen it from this lookout. I usually see it from the Bungonia lookouts
My great great grandfather settled in Marulan. He was a sheep farmer and orchardist. Samuel and Charlott Shepherd, from Warwickshire, England. They are buried at the South Marulan cemetery.
Another informative and interesting video, absolutely enjoying this series.👍👋
Thanks - probably enough material there for another Gundagai video (Niagra, Rusconi's masterpiece etc).
Bloody brilliant! I'm commenting, I've like and now a ruddy subscriber. Thank you for an enjoyable presentation of Marulan. BRAVO ZULU young lady.
Thanks for the BZ shippers. Glad you enjoyed the video and I’m hoping to bring more enjoyable content soon.
@@SerenityTours24 You bloody ripper. Are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet.? 🤣🤣
You've walked further along the track than me. I will have to go all the way next time! There is also a track that goes upstream from the camping area and brings you out behind the pub (from memory). A lot closer, and below the rocks - may not have been passable with the wet weather. Cheers,
Thanks for showing this. Good that you showed the bigger culverts (when do they become bridges?) - I don't think many people walk to see those. I have an interest in the old road, so have been there a few times. Pity the flooding stopped you from getting to the graves.
Thanks for that well filmed look at Cooma Cottage. Looks like they have renovated those front two rooms since I was last there (prob 10 years ago). Fun fact - the south road originally ran closer to the river which is why the house looks more impressive on the river side. The current road (probably for 150 years) goes past the back of the house. I went there quite a few times as a kid (grew up in Yass) and my father loved taking photos of the place. Cheers,
Thanks for that. A few things... at 1:22 its pronounced bine-a-long. At 3:06 Coodravale near Wee Jasper is between Yass and Tumut (not Canberra). 3:38 the bronze bust was moved many years ago to the museum or visitors centre (can't remember which). There is a replica in the park which is falling to bits. I haven't seen the poem plaques for many years, but noticed something interesting at 4:37. Grabben Gullen is near the Lachlan, not the Murrumbidgee. Poetic license? If you're interested, another well known poet John O'Brien (Patrick Hartigan) was born in Yass. His house is still there... Cheers,
Thanks for the information. I've been travelling through Tallong for 45 years and stopped at the park a few times, but didn't know that there was a nature walk behind it - I will have to check it out next time I'm there. I've checked out the viaduct a few times and have seen the old bridge remains so it was good to see a photo of it included here. The lookouts are a favorite spot -sometimes you can hear bellbirds at Badgery's. Thanks,
Hi Neil, thanks for watching. It’s not a long walk around the park but well worth the time. Be sure to subscribe and watch my other videos and if you have any suggestions of places you would like to see let me know. Safe travels 🌞🏖️🛫
This must be the sexiest place I have ever visited on Utube?
The turn of the 19th century had NO automobiles The year 1905 was in the 20th century
Hi Terry, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I’ll advise the Goulburn / Marulan council that the signs are incorrect and need updating. I’ll be mindful of relying on information provided in the future.
Loved the sculptures in the bush, the gorge was absolutely magnificent what an amazing sight. Thank you for taking us along with you.
Great scenery, and a very enjoyable video. 👏👏👏👍
Very informative, I loved seeing all the poems. My favourite has always been, Mulga Bill’s bicycle and the Geebung Polo club.
Must attend one of these fairs, great video it’s very entertaining.👍
