Dog Grooming - Double Coated Breeds
Переглядів 177Рік тому
This is a TikTok on why you should not shave or clip your double coated dog such as a golden retriever, Aussie, border collie, or any shedding dog breed. Clipping them short can lead to a whole variety of skin problems as well as coat changes, and will actually cause your dog to shed more!

I have spent so much money on my dogs and food I also tried Just for dogs dog food. my house is like a pet store I have so much food. I’m gonna try pet plate and Sunday’s tried Dr. Havery Purpose patties dog food they like those. My dogs are spoiled but I want the to eat. Also tried Yum woof and Fromm dog food. My dogs like Ollie’s the best pork flavor and sometimes beef. So I know dog food. I watch Doc Rea she’s a vet I watch the puzzle guy talk about dog nutrition. I have tried Nextition dog food. I agree with everything you said but I must say, the way you were talking in this video I expected your grooms to look exceptional. Your grooms don't look much different from groomers that learned to grooms at petsmart. Also it shouldn't take an entire year of bathing before leaning to groom, that's silly. I also think it's silly to train someone to groom but not allow them to use scissors until they've clippered enough dog?

These are just great explanations from her perspective and honest opinion from the hard end of things. My girlfriend just started Petsmart Academy and her interest led me here watching. Switching from a major corporation one stop shop to a proud private grooming company is exactly like my 15 years of Serving/Bartending experience. Those who are not willing to change or badge new shop policies are extremely difficult to work with. Also coworkers and management may make a huge difference in each individual experience person to person. Loved the conversation in the video though. Every experience is different but glad yours is here.

Most people don’t get a chance to work private from the start because most private businesses won’t give them a chance. Which leaves people where ? At petsmart or petco. How will that individual be able to grow if no one is giving them a chance? It’s common sense!

I’ve been working for PS for about 3 years now, 2 as a groomer. Academy is only 2 weeks hands on and 1 week computer work. It’s very frustrating because they want you to crank out grooms as fast as you can. They have me at 3 and 3 in an 8 hour shift, and it’s a STRUGGLE! I feel like I have been set up for failure from the start. My own grooming experience comes from me shaving my own dogs, never having any accidents or injuries to them for the past 16 years prior to PS. I fight every day to try to get them all done on time…. 😮‍💨

I just started petco grooming last week, I have six weeks more of pre academy training before I go into academy. I see some flaws, but it's efficient in alot of ways, but some rules makes no sense. It's also never followed. I've heard horror stories about academy but am going to push through because I absolutely want this as my forever career, I don't plan on staying with petco forever. I also can say your opinion is kicking down of rude or more so your take? I know two people making 6 figures + who started at petco and stayed for a majority of their grooming time. But also again, they test different breeds on you before testing out and you learn as you go, just as you would appreciating. We have to test out with 6 dogs and then 3 more afterwards before getting our certificate of completion. Our GM and SLM take it very serious usually

The grass is not always greener on the other side. There are a lot of private grooming shops that use crappy products on dogs, it's all about the money 💰 Usually, they have no formal pet grooming skills other than the school of "hard knocks" and they don't like people who have gone to grooming school. I think the best is to do both, try corporate, try private and then open your own shop. A lot of private shops are family run and they only hire others to help them pay the bills, if you're not family they are not interested in teaching you.

    • @gjmarin2004

Agreed I mean there was a private company just recently where the man was arrested. A groomer was arrested for kicking a Shih Tzu. He kicked that shit to like about three times because he said the Shih Tzu tried to bite him while he was grooming. So I mean, it’s anywhere you go. There are good people and bad people, and there are skilled people and unskilled people regardless of where you go at least with corporate the people are more likely to be held accountable because they’re held to a different standard because it’s corporate.

What’s really ridiculous about the one hand on the dog at all times rule is that we are also required to answer the phone and schedule appointments WHILE we have a dog on our table. So we use a mobile phone and an iPad to do this while trying to keep one hand on the dog on our table… instead of just paying a freaking receptionist 😂

I don’t trim into the coat so it doesn’t cause any issues with the coat! I would never cut into the undercoat. This particular dog isn’t left natural looking and gets an outline trim because he doesn’t get groomed often

When i was on my search for grooming education, i was origionally going to pay for my education. Well petsmart got back to me and hired me on the spot so i said, Hey! Its worth a shot and who doesnt want free education. Ive been in this company for 5 months, i was about to go to accademy and decided... free isnt everything, so im going back to my schooling for dog grooming. Our accademy has been squeezed into 3 weeks, 3 WEEKS. HOW DO YOU LEARN A WHOLE CAREER IN 3 WEEKS. When i was hired on there was a salon leader, mature staff, a generally good team. It took no time at all to lose all of our geeat staff, our salon leader. Infact all of our strong management are quitting or have one foot out the door. This is not a safe environment to learn in, they push you to take on more then you can handle, when you have decided that a pet isnt going to work out at a petsmart salon, management will not back you up. Theyre only looking for numbers and good reviews.what your looking for in education is not worth breaking your body for. Trust me there are safer ways to manage stress. Yes the 2 year contract is no longer in affect. But ask yourself why, do your research. Theyre is so many abuse in the workplace violations nations wide in both canada and the US. simply put they cant afford anymore lawsuits. The company keeps getting bought out by new management and that management is making it cheaper and cheaper. Im working with someone who has 23 years experience in petsmart. This company isnt what it use to be.

Never realizing that my addiction to cannabis was going through the roof because I needed something to numb and cope with the stress of this job. Now I'm clean, I go to NA and have support left right and center. I see clearer now and can't wait to move on. This place will kill your dream. But hey, thanks for... the work experience?

I 100% agree The first time I saw a comment on some video about how the poor dog was being abused I couldn't even believe it I was in shock I have seven dogs four small and three large My dogs are cleaner and fed better and taken care of better by my hand then some people's children! I just started adding little accents to little ones and dying them and of course I use the dye that is created yeah that's a thing lol for the dogs and my dogs are far from miserable and you shampoo them after you do it so they do not get anything in their mouths they don't do any of that nonsense It's not toxic I'm so grateful I came across your video just to see somebody else say it out loud people just want to comment on everything!

Just wanted to add, I’m a private salon groomer and work from my home but have been grooming for 25 years. Had a very sick family member and could not work for about 3 weeks. A client of mine could not wait, went to pet smart with her mini doodle (23 lbs.) She likely had some knots, I’ll give them that but she was striped from her forehead to the end of her tail. I’ve been grooming her for 3 years and never had to do that. Anyway, owner was charged double what I charge and $30 was added for a “ conditioning treatment “, WHAT? $30 for conditioner? That is almost the cost of a gallon size bottle! I was shocked, so was her owner.

Thank you for sharing, I am self-taught through my mom‘s self owned dog shop and she’s been grooming for almost 20 years now, I was a hairdresser for five years before I learned how to groom, so I felt comfortable with shears in cutting hair, I love it and I would never work corporate! I do think there are some great places to learn from doing corporate, and you are more certified as far as that goes, but you also have to have passion behind pet grooming if you want to love your job. I do think all those strict rules would be hard to follow, but it does teach you very good safety habits and I’ve learned that along the way being self taught. A lot of it is common sense but also safety is the first priority

THIS exactly is what I am absolutely baffled (to say the very least!) about with this food. I have 2 dogs who are both over 80 lbs. HOW TF would I be able to keep up with feeding them both 4.5 cups per day of this? So, I then tried researching if I can potentially use this food instead as a topper. However, now I cannot find any serving suggestions for doing this. I love my dogs like crazy and would do absolutely anything for them. (As frustrated as I am with this whole thing right now, I definitely wouldn't still be researching this if I didn't love them more than life!) After watching Dr. Marty's video on how horrible all other foods are, it's extremely disappointing to find out how much this food costs people who don't make an equivalent salary as some of the other clients he's mentioned he's worked with- Oprah, Martha Stewart & so on.... it's seriously sad to me that he would even choose to charge this much for this food as much as he seems to care about helping dogs. He's not an idiot to know that middle class Americans cannot afford a price like that. 16 OZ bags????? Seriously????!!!????!!! Thank you kindly for your comment as well as listening to my rant!

After using this dog food I stopped using because price. You can make homemade dog food with all necessary supplements to be a complete food for way less money. On top of that huge improvement in health. This food is fine if you are busy and cannot make the food but long term all my dogs rejected it. I say that because they refused it and one sick dog her body refused it she kept getting sick on it. I used this food over the past two years so I did give it a chance. It is the best for dehydrated so please do not misunderstand me.
