It’s not really “us”. When Canada is welcoming 1 million of newcomers every year, there is no magic of them disappearing. Of course, they chose the best for them. But for us, expansion is the reality we have to accept.

As you can see from my name, I don’t live there, but what you can’t see, is that my mother is from there, and I am literally related to half the freaking city! mom has(had, many are passed😰) 12 siblings, and that’s one of the smaller families of her generation! Each sibling had at least 10 children…and each of them…well, you get the picture. For those of you who have heard it is racist (a common over-exaggeration), every city is, but it’s more than any other city. I spent a month there with my husband who’s from El Salvador. My mothers family told us that we have nothing to worry about and to come visit, and I’m so glad we did. We are an interracial same-sex couple, together nearly 34 years, there’s a lot of places in the world we can’t go because of that, but I am surprised to say I was wrong, Nova Scotia‘s, especially in Halifax, didn’t even think about it, and EVERYONE treated us like family! But it was funny, everywhere I went I bumped into a cousin, and I’m not lying. When my grandmother passed away a couple of years ago, at the age of 102, they had to rent a hockey arena for her funeral because nothing else would fit the entire family, all 342 of us! (She lived in a small town, and the church was too small) Guess it was pretty quiet in Nova Scotia in the 20s and 30s, nothing else to do but make babies, and my grandparents were professionals at doing that! Lol! Actually a lot of it is in Antigonish (2 hour drive from Halifax)…. but they are scattered all across the province, and now all the younger generation live in Halifax. I never have to worry about a hotel, I’ve got dozens of people practically begging us to come stay with them anytime we want. It’s an entirely different world, one that I absolutely love. Unfortunately my husband is still working, and we can’t afford for him to quit his job, as we’re both in our mid-50s. But thanks to my family, we have already figured out our retirement. Years ago we bought a small home on the Pacific Ocean in El Salvador, close to his family who stay in it when we’re not using it) because it was dirt cheap, only $25,000 for a four bedroom home right on the pacific ocean, nothing fancy, but who cares? So we’re spending six months in the winter down there, and six months in Nova Scotia until the day we die. Neither of us can’t wait, we are dying to start our retirement now, but we just need to work a little bit more to make sure we have enough money to last as long as we could possibly survive. People in Nova Scotia, my family in particular, are so incredibly kind, they refuse to except one penny from us, although of course we are not going to live for free, we plan on paying our way, but the fact that they are willing to pay for us to live with them is incredible, and so heartwarming, considering I didn’t really grow up with these people, I spent most of my entire life in Toronto. My mother was the only person in her family to leave Halifax/Nova Scotia. (dad is from Toronto, joined the navy, stationed in Halifax, met mom at a naval dance, the rest is history!). My apologies for rambling on, point being, get your butt to Nova Scotia, regardless of whatever pace of life you are used to, you will fall in love with the place. It has a charm, a spirit, and ambiance that just pulls you in, and doesn’t want to let you go, and you don’t wanna let go. Last time we went there a few years ago, myself and my parents were boarding the plane to fly back to Toronto, everyone of us were crying, even my father, who never ever cries! I could talk for hours, but I trust my point is clear, just go for a week even, if you don’t like it, big deal, but I am 99.9% positive your fall in love, especially if you love seafood, because it has the best seafood on the entire east coast of North America! No offence to any other city along the coast, but because of the confluence of the ocean currents, we do have the best tasting and biggest seafood you can find anywhere, and it can be dirt cheap if you find the right restaurant (some are way over priced, but some are much cheaper then most other cities) But not only that, it is a foodies dream come true! Halifax is a very small city, you can literally walk across the whole city in one day on foot, but I’ve never seen so many bars and restaurants in my life in one small area. You will never be bored, and the fact that the ocean and nature is literally a five minute drive away from the downtown core? Just puts the cherry on top of the cake!

I hope those that lost their jobs or had adverse reactions get compensated. Seems it was more anout control than keeping people safe. Incredible manipulation with sucd high costs
