Hi, should I delay, defer, preconnect, prefetch or load GTM JavaScript asynchronously? Which method would you recommend to speed up your page?
Hey there! The good news is that GTM JS loads asynchronously, so there's nothing you have to do to make that happen. I definitely would not delay the loading of the GTM script - I generally try to load that as high in the <head>, and as early as possible. I have not worked with any preconnect or prefetch methods, so I can't make a recommendation there. It's possible that a site like Cloudflare may have some additional info.

I am reading a document from. Audioeye about how to build an accessible website. Does building an accessible website eliminate the need for an accessibility widget?
Hi Christine - That is correct. Using solid web development best practices allows for the creation of websites that are best for all users - without requiring alternative pathways for disabled users. Disabled users can leverage their own tools and settings as desired to personally optimize their web experience. Overlay widgets are not only ineffective in allowing users universal engagement with a website, they also do nothing to resolve underlying issues. So, websites with overlay tools engaged not only may not meet WCAG standards, but the widgets may be causing additional harm to site performance, security, user privacy, and accessibility of the content. The best course of action is to build an accessible website. There is no need to take on the cost or risks associated with accessibility widgets. Hey @rentefald! That's a fair question for sure. I think GA will continue to be tweaked and massaged to be GDPR compliant. Obviously there are questions about its legality in some countries, but I don't think that's the end of the story, by a long shot. So I'm not writing it off yet!

Here's a challenge I bet you have no answer for: I've been trying to make the debug mode work for the last 12 hours, following basically every rabbit trick the internet has come up with, at no success. Nothing works. Frustrating as hell, since no video, support ticket, or random guy on the internet has managed to solve this issue.
I feel your pain. There are times where the debug view just doesn't work. And lately, I seem to have run into reliability issues with it. The solution is not to rely solely on debug view. Realtime can be helpful, or chrome extensions such as DataLayer Inspector + (from AdSwerve) or GA/GTM Debug (from thyngster) are my go-to-backups.

Hi Drew - to see the event parameters, you have to set them up as custom dimensions (or metrics) in Admin > Custom Definitions.

Thanks Joel - yeah, you're absolutely right; this is the older version of David Vallejo's tool. He's done a good job of creating some videos on his new iterations, so I think I'll just let his videos speak for themselves now. Hey, thanks for the video. But what is missing is how to configure the crosdomain tracking when you start on the band site and switch to the coffee site. Do I have to add the the same tracking code in the band site? Do I have to create an own property for the band site?
Sorry about my delayed response! It doesn't really matter the order in which you do it, going from the coffee site to the band site, or vice versa. What's imperative for cross-domain tracking is that the same GA4 measurement ID (the tracking code) is on *both* websites. Both websites are sending their hits to the same GA4 data stream.
Hi, Fred. My debugview doesn't work because: "no device available". I don't know where and how to enable a device!? I set in GTM the debug_mode --> true + I have the google debugger extension on, but I don't have any data in debugview in GA4. What did I do wrong? Could you help me please? Best.
Hi Krisztina - apologies for my very late response. You don't actually have to set the debug mode to true; as long as you're doing a GTM preview, you'll automatically start the debug mode. "No device available" means it's not seeing traffic from any session; it can take up to 30-45 seconds or so. In a week or so, I'm planning to do another video diving into this topic a bit further; maybe it'll help! :-)
Hey Fred, I've been having difficulty with this. So I set up GA4 by connecting the site tag to my universal account. I don't know if it has any effect on it, but it's the only thing that I can point to that would cause me to have a problem

Hi Richard - sorry for my delayed response. I see the three dots dropdown *sometimes* in the GA3 events, but it doesn't seem to work the same as it used to in the older version. So it's nothing that you're doing wrong; it's just different in the new version.
