Why I Love Reading on my iPad mini 7!!
Переглядів 1,1 тис.2 місяці тому
I love to read, but especially on my iPad mini 7! Here's why!
Welcome back Grace! 😃
I just returned my colorsoft today because I wasn't satisfied with it. I plan on ordering the new scribe today. I'm excited. Thanks for the review.
Great video - Kindle Scribe OR iPad mini? Which is your ultimate choice? Thank you in advance for your reply. Going to buy one of them and so close- yet, still researching.
I love the scribe! It is a simple note/journal tool without distractions, which is what I wanted. It is also wonderful to read on.
Great review-very comprehensive and thorough review. Would be open to hearing any recommendations on iPad mini memory size as I also read in excess annually. It’s a wonderful hobby….
Thanks for watching! As for memory size, I don't think that books are generally very large files, so I went with the smallest memory size. It's been working great for me!
Alright Grace-Thank you deeply for the reply. I have subscribed - I like your approach on your vids to this point - I’m a fan !
Thank you for your review-would you please kindly inform me of the cover you selected/purchased for the iPad mini 7 and would you recommend it after some time utilizing it? Thank you in advance…
@@mbforwood251 I have a few different covers that I’ve tried - a clear one from ESR, a folio from Pitaka, and the Apple Folio. All are available for purchase on Amazon. I think that my favorite is probably the Apple Folio - it’s expensive, but it’s really sleek and slim. I value slimness the most. It doesn’t have a spot to hold the pencil, or a flap to keep the pencil secured, but that the one I like the best.
Ok, thanks - intended to ask what memory option you selected for your iPad mini. Debating between 256 and 512, perhaps one is best suited for avid readers like us ? Interested in your reply …. Thank you kindly.
Girl, keep the product, your video was very entertaining. So natural and real. Great job, Being yourself .💯😂
Thanks!
Yeah nice try - when people started selling their little kindles , now they started making bigger ones.
I have a Supernote for notes so I plan on just using the Scribe as an ereader too. I currently have a basic for on the go and an Oasis for home but wanted the Scribe to annotate my book club books and love the update with active canvas. Just picked up a 2022 on eBay.
Oh boy lol
A refreshing face Grace! Great video and explanation of the reasons why one should or shouldn't. No fancy camera tricks - just straight to it. You have a new subscriber and can't wait to see what's next. 🤗
Thanks!!
Great sales right now on the 1st gen scribe... just in case someone wanted to pick one up for you for the holiday, even if that someone is you. 😁 And, two future videos that I would definitely watch: The story of the Amazon interview and the wasp story! 😂
I will have to do a story time video - the Amazon interview was extremely enlightening about the company and corporate culture. Not in a good way. And the wasp? Yeah, it's an ongoing story...
I was able to get a refurbished 64gb Scribe with pen and a case for 285.00 or so. I love all the books you can get just for the Scribe and I write in it all the time. I love it. I love the simplicity of it and I didn't want "busy". I needed to get away from the Internet even though you can use the internet on the Scribe.
Yes, the update comes to the previous Scribe. I take copious amounts of notes. I love it! I write directly into my workbooks. The Active Canvas takes a bit to get use to but for me is so worth it! There are game books and study guides and Daily Planners you can get for the Scribe. I don't know how many people know about that. I love the crosswords and the journals. There is a lot you can do with it.
I agree, the Kindle might have a nice screen for reading under direct sunlight, but seriously, who does that? Besides, it’s too limited, and I’m not really feeling like carrying around another gadget. So, for reading, my iPhone Pro Max will do. For note-taking, the iPad Mini 6 felt too small for me, so I sold it and got an iPad Pro 11-inch, which, in my opinion, is the perfect size.
I am going to choose the remarkable paper pro. I never used my scribe 1 and I just don’t like how it’s an e-reader first and notebook second with NO color. But I love the jade though.
Yes please, I would love to hear your thoughts on the Kobo e-reader. Thanks 😊
@@mdrummond7278 You got it! I’ll put together my thoughts and share soon!
While I’m not a big book reader, I do love my iPad mini seven. Just wanted to say good luck with your new channel. I hope it all goes well for you. Nice cat too… Lol.
I JUST GOT MINE TODAY AND THE NEW PAPER RIGHT SO I HAVE A WEEK TO DECIDE
KOBO HAS THE WHITE NOW
Go Wild! Informative video
I have the original Kindle Scribe and just manually updated the software to the latest version, which is what is in the new Scribe. I love the software updates for sure and see no need to gat the new Scribe. I heard on the Good E-Reader channel that Amazon will release a color Scribe in 2025, which I will be excited to see. Hope you decide to keep the device and most importantly, hope you really enjoy it! BTW, I really like the screen size of the Scribe, both for reading and note taking, and I do a lot of both. Thank you for the video!
I like the size of the Scribe, too. With the Paperwhite and others I've had, I found that all I was doing was clicking the page-turn button. With the Scribe being larger, I also find that when I look up words, the dictionary is actually readable!.
I think the Active Canvas is the most elegant solution for writing In-Book...IF, you are going to be reading on more than one device, of different sizes.
If you bought it at Best Buy, you probably only have 15 days to return....and may have to pay a restocking fee.
Six minutes in.... if you say you "Love" the Scribe, I'm going to be shocked.
That's correct, the hardware is identical except they made the pen a bit heavier and added new colours, the new active canvas, etc is already available on the 2022 scribe and the AI stuff will be available early 2025. It is essentially identical and if you prefer the heavier pen, you can buy it for your 2022 version :) - I do like the new colours though.
I also like to read on the mini, but I keep my e-reader for when I’m out and about. The e-reader display is also more eye friendly. But I totally understand the mini appeal :)
What do you think about the clarity of the screen while reading?
I think the clarity is really good - I have absolutely no complaints. It’s very crisp.
@ thank you for your response! ❤️ I plunged and upgraded from the older 2022 scribe. I probably didn’t need to but hey, We only live once lol.
@ I totally agree - the new one is just so beautiful! Definitely a nice upgrade :)
300 dpi is a very good resolution on an e-link tablet.
@@paulus4294 they put a matte coating on the screen that kind of makes the screen hazy.
If you like it, keep it! Life is short and it's a great device. You should try using it as a notebook. I love using my old scribe to write on.
I also had the opportunity to test the Kindle Scribe 2022, which I bought last Black Friday to annotate my many Kindle books with the stylus. However, I felt a certain frustration, like you, when I discovered that it was not possible to enter text directly on the book page. That said, the size of the 10.2" screen is very pleasant to read, whether at home or comfortably installed in your bed. Landscape mode, which splits the page into two columns, offers an excellent reading experience. Finally, I returned this Kindle Scribe, reluctantly, because the annotation function was not optimized enough. Fortunately, I already have a Kindle Paperwhite, which I love for its portability and its compact 7" format, perfect to accompany me everywhere. Like you, I fell in love with the new Kindle Scribe 2024, which corrected this point with the ability to annotate directly on the pages of the books! I'm getting it tomorrow in a 16GB tungsten gray version, and I can't wait to try it. Continue to share your spontaneous opinions, it's a pleasure to listen to you!
You know by the time you read this, the 5.17.2 update with writing option is now available for the ‘22. I love the jade but not for $450.
Why would you even buy a scribe? If you don’t wanna write on it and you use your iPad? The way an iPad and an E ink tablets are not the same use cases at all. The writing experience is different. The day and night and outside experience is different like if you’re perfectly happy with your iPad, I don’t understand why you would be interested in this anyway if you don’t want to use it as a notebook but writing on a glass iPad is way different than the analog experience of writing on an E ink device
Thanks for your thoughts!
Unfortunately, version 5.17.2 was not released in France, so I returned it.
I do have a Kindle oasis for Wyche now I will be leaving at home for the most part. I’ll use it to read at home however, now that I just invested in an iPad mini seven that will be my main go to for reading as I travel and out and about. Also staying at home for the most part is my iPad Pro. you have the kindle app, the kobo app and the Libby app for libraries, for which, you could utilize for your reading. I know there’s others, but those are the main three that I will be using.
Thank you for your thoughts on this new iPad 7. I picked one up a week ago and I have been naturally drawn to reading my kindle library on it which was not expected. It is really the perfect size! Good luck with the channel!

Thanks! It’s definitely a great size for reading.
Thanks for the video. Your e-reader experience sounds much like my own. In the early 2000s, I had a Rockebook, but they went out of business in about 2003. I got my first Kindle with a tiny keyboard on the bottom sometime in the mid to late 2000s, followed by several more versions over the next two decades. However, I also joined the Apple ecosystem during that time, accumulating several successive versions of iPads and iPad Pros. Recently, however, I've decided to purchase an iPad Mini v.7 with 256GB of storage, and I plan to use it as a reader as well, given its small form factor. I will use my Kindles occasionally, mainly for pure text (novels, etc.). Still, the iPad is best for color, graphic illustrations, and complex page layouts, which the Kindle cannot adequately display.
Thanks for your comment! I think we've definitely had similar journeys - I'm also in the Apple ecosystem, and I've had several iPads over the years. For color, yes, I agree, the iPad mini is the way to go. I also do have a Kindle, and I expect to use it occasionally, but it's probably not my go-to device anymore.
@@grace_is_reading Good luck with your new channel!
I agree with the company prohibiting Tik Tok on a device that may have sensitive information. Not to get too political, but China having software that can scan a person's phone and personal device isn't something I would feel comfortable with. Tech companies spying on personal information is going to keep being a big problem for sure. -- Good review otherwise! I never considered the iPad mini as an ereader
Thanks for your opinion! I understand, a device with sensitive information is something that needs to be treated a little differently. It's just an annoyance for me, I guess, but I tend to agree that they're probably doing the right thing.
