You are easily able to get Pakistani visa because you are traveling on American passport. You could have easily availed eVisa If you were entering by airport. I know this as I have enteted Pakistan on my American passport myself with eVisa. On flipside, my friends working in US who are Indian were rejected even after providing sponsor letter and all that. For Indians, it is extremely difficult to get visa as there is no tourist/visitor visa. Even if they some sponsor in Pakistan, they would be granted visa only for certain cities. And they have to report to police station everytime they enter and exit a city.
