i think the ultimate way for people to support the anime industry if they dont want to pay is to use crunchyroll. you can use crunchyroll for free and yes there are ads but the money from the ad revenue that they get goes back into supporting the anime industry. the only problem is that crunchyroll doesn't have a lot of animes and there is where you will have to buy things but even then if you do that you're bound to spend 90% less on anime dvds and if you don't want to deal with ads and are willing to pay then you can always get premium

What about trading is that just a member thing?

I just subscribed to Funimation's streaming service the other day, and I really like it! ^_^ Because I like watching dubs. But if you prefer to watch it subbed, get Crunchyroll. They're both great services that only cost around $5-$6 a month. Or if you can't afford that, you can watch them for free on Crunchyroll with ads. Not sure if that's an option with Funimation's service, but it might be. Either way, I agree with Vic. There is no reason to pirate anime, not in 2017.

If you don't want to pay for the DVD's, you can always buy a subscription to Netflix, Crunchyroll, Funimation, or any other legit sites. That gives you constant access to a bunch of series.
