Not surprising that this is a Sonoma-centric, "hospitality industry" conversation. But, Sonoma County represents a small minority of this district, in terms of land area, natural resources and even economic output if you include cannabis, which interestingly is not mentioned at all (a clear indication these folks do not understand the economy of this district outside SoCo). Didn't hear any mention of the fishing community or the logging industry, two other important economic drivers in the district. Healdsburg and Santa Rosa were truly rural at some point, but, are no longer. They're ex-urbs at best. Healdsburg is a boutique tourist destination. It does not represent the mean demographic of this district by a longshot. So, what do these candidates really know about the majority of the district? What about the emerald triangle and all of the truly rural economic islands north of SoCo? The majority of residents in the district do not want to be reliant on tourism or work in the hospitality industry. That isn't the history of this region economically and it is creates a dependency on wealthy visitors from the Bay Area. The Bay Area/Silicon Valley Tesla crowd (nothing against EVs) are welcomed/tolerated for their weekend roadtrips to the area, but not what people who live in the majority of the district want to see the district turn into, culturally. They mention "community" and "local ....". But there are many different types of communities in the North Coast region. The majority of working class generational residents in this region do not want to be reliant on the corporate wealthy who live elsewhere. In fact, historically many people moved to this area to get away from that demographic. Also, the mud slinging going on between Kelley and the guy from LA, Hicks, is just repulsive. Nothing screams, I'm trying to buy an election and I want to be a career politician, like what they're engaged in. Do they have any idea just how shallow they come off when you see their ads running back to back ad naseum? Neither of them grew up or spent the majority of their lives in this region or even this state. How arrogant that they think they understand and can represent the majority of the district's communities.
