Ok, so Milanos may have not been the only restaurant handing out free meals to the community, first responders & volunteers during the cleanup after Hurricane Helene. They are one of our favorites! We stopped off at Farmer Johns Produce, really nice place and they had Seltzers Sweet Lebanon Bologna!!! Then we drove over to see if the Elizabethton Covered Bridge had survived the flooding and finally stopped at Cat Island Park which had a lot of damage. After Hurricane Helene covered Newport TN in flood water, we didn't expect to see Fruit Jar Alley open so soon. Sure some places have reopened, but those places didn't take on the damage that Fruit Jar Alley had. The windows had been blown out from the pressure of the water, the flood was covered in mud. Burg'r & Barrel is a unique restaurant located in a former Train Station in Johnson City TN. Their address is 330 Cherry St in Johnson City They serve burgers, smoked meats and more. They do have alcoholic beverages. They have hand cut fries!!! Sit inside or outside. We tried this for the first time, see what we thought and follow us! On the way to recovery, cleanup ongoing after Hurricane Helene. Here in Newport TN., that was under water less than 2 weeks ago some things are getting back to normal. Here we start at Roscoe's Treasures and then over to Snowbirds for Steph to get a cup of coffee. We then grab two pizzas at Pizza at the Cove and lastly stop at Petals Florist & Gift Shop before heading home to review the pizza. ...

We left home hoping to make it to Erwin TN. and that didn't happen. The Nolichucky River made sure of that. We made it just past the KOA in Jonesborough on Highway 81 and had to turn around. I can only image the destruction farther along that road as it runs beside the river. This has been some of the worst damage we've seen. No Stephanie today, so I got to stop at Pal's Sudden Service for lunch!!! A Big Pal, Frenchie Fries and a Peachie Sweet Tea...was it good? Every time we drive past Pal's they are packed, cars backed up out onto E. Andrew Johnson Hwy. People don't eat at bad restaurants!!! What a Day!!!! Started off with former WWE Wrestler Kane reading the proclamation. Kane is now Mayor of Knox County TN., Glenn Jacobs!!! Flooding!!! Nolichucky Dam was supposedly on the brink of a Breach. The Pigeon River engulfed Newport TN., the French Broad River was trying to keep up with devastation. Hey what a fun one! I haven't been to that place in years and years.
It was a mixed bag of good and ho hum. The food smelled and looked amazing...but we have to be in the mood for Mexican food. Lot's of livestock and clothes, great prices...not many antiques though.

We've yet to stop there. There is just so many great options in Newport. We love Fox and Hounds, The Grease Rack, Milanos... lot's of good places! Thank you for the info. Now we'll have to try Calloways.

Hello from Florida Thanks for the update and lovely video. We just had a horrific night. Hurricane Milton made landfall within a hundred miles of us. I had to take a break from all the news. We did all the prep and prayer. Very thankful that we were spared from any bad damage. Got power now and watched your video on the TV first. I’m looking forward to seeing parts of Tennessee. Our vacation was postponed but Thanksgiving will come soon. Our prayers will continue for all those affected from both Helene and Milton . The amount of people out helping early this morning was such a reminder of the goodness in humanity. You both give such a special kind of love and caring for each other. We'll give updates as we get them. So much we had planned to film has been cancelled, Unicoi Apple Fest and so on. For obvious reasons. We can't even get to Erwin on Hwy 81...as you know, it's crazy!
Flatwood and the C are going to be awhile they both have terrible damage.

If you guys are just riding around through these areas to gather content for your UA-cam channel, you're part of the problem. Had friends of mine two days after the storm trying to get across a bridge that was getting opened up, having to wait for "three hundred rubber neckers", his quote, to go back and forth across that bridge to get their pictures! If you're not here to help, stay out of the way.
@@stevewilson1388 I agree...what you don't know if you haven't watched the 3 videos we've done on this is that we've been driving to and from to help others. As things started to flood we were in Newport TN stacking sandbags. Since then, delivering water and food to shut ins. Yes we have filmed driving to and from. Not everyone is going to like that. We don't like to show a person's loss, but word needs to get out. As for being here to help, we live here! These people are our neighbors, friends and family. You are free to share your opinion and glad you have. But please don't assume what others do or aren't doing.
