Why did sadness keep touching everything? Cause she couldn’t help it. The emotions don’t always decide what to do, sometimes they get this urge to do something and have no self control. The same thing happens with anxiety. As sadness said in the first movie “i don’t know what’s wrong with me it’s like I’m having a breakdown”

I feel like anger not having a face and disgust not having a month are very clever ideas cos when you feel something is icky you express it with your body, or when you don't like something you express it with your face, you don't usually say it, the same way that, at least for me, when i feel angry I don't use facial expressions cos for me anger is what i feel when i can't get it together anymore cos i have passed to much little moments of annoyance that i can't get it anymore, and at that point i don't actually use facial expressions.

Okay, so i just need to put this here because i could see what would be the reason but you know how riley calls joy up at the end of the second mocie, i feel thats what happened with sadness and thats what made her seem so 'annoying'. Riley felt out of control, riley felt sad, that could have sadness feeling the irresistible urge to touch the memory spears, she herself feeling and being out of control too. everything was changing and there was nothing they could do about it. So of course Riley was going to have her memories change and be sad, even the small insignificant ones!(thats just my take though!) - Enmity

Fear redesign reminds me of Pomni from the digital circus, especially the hat

(Short note: of course the film is up for interpretation and everyone is welcome to like or dislike any character in the film however this is just some extra information to have a little bit of a better explanation about why characters are so dramatic and annoying) The reason why they were so annoying in the first film is because they wanted to show that joy and sadness are two extreme emotions on opposite ends of the spectrum, they were so extreme bc they were supposed to show Riley’s most prominent emotions in the film. The reason why sadness kept touching all the core memories is bc all of Riley’s core memories revolved around her old like and a lot of times these type of memories invoke a certain type of sadness, a bittersweet feeling. Sadness knew Riley needed to feel that bittersweetness in order to grow and learn even if she consciously didn’t understand why she was doing certain things. Joy on the other hand wanted her to say joyful and happy but because Riley was growing up her main emotion was no longer joy and the way she felt sadness evolved from surface level to a deeper level that could no longer be healed by joy but instead healed through feeling the hard emotions. It was actual pretty spot on to how people grow and learn to evolve with their emotions once they transition from elementary to middle school and highschool. The way we feel in elementary is different to how you feel when you enter middle and highschool our emotions become deeper and we become hyper aware of everything.
