In this video I go over how I was able to remove a rusted leaf spring bolt from my truck. It’s a pretty common problem, the leaf spring bushing normally has a metal sleeve that the bolt gets rusted to over time which makes removing the bolt a pain. I’m not a mechanic. Great video! I bought my 2000 F250 7.3 in July of 1999 I replaced my rear springs 4 months ago and one bolt was just like the bolt you had issues with on your front springs. I will need to do my fronts hopefully soon . That changing those springs on the ground makes it harder. I bought a ramp lift recently cus at 66 I’m tired of crawling on the ground .

    Cut the ends off the bolt off pull the leaf spring out of the Mount. Use a brake drum puller with the right size deep well socket and push the whole problem out.

    Just get a bigger hammer, I got a 16 pound steel block welded to a 8in of flat bar. Does the job or breaks what it touches. Either way it works

    I don't understand why heat works...? Shouldn't it expand the bolt, making it more stuck in the hole?

  • @KevinKleindienst-e6n

    Tip for you, cut the head of the bolt flush. Go to the other side and use the nut and washers to use its own threads with an impact to take it off. Works well with heat added to the mix.

    • @ProleDaddy
      @ProleDaddy Місяць тому

      Hey, thanks for that. That's a pretty good thought. If one adds an air hammer to the cut off head end that would probably be pretty killer.

    Get a bigger hammer and a real man to swing it like a man. 8 pound short handle sledge is perfect. If not my little 150 pound ass has a 25 lb sledge that will make short work of anything.

    No offense but you are using that induction heater completely wrong. Sure it worked, but the proper application would have been to use it for removing the nut on the eyelet bushing.

    You can make a heat inductor, most likely cheaper than buying one, there are tutorials on UA-cam.

  • @Robertas_Grigas
    @Robertas_Grigas 2 місяці тому

    Induction heater is close to useless in this aplication. For this you need a oxigen-propane torch to heat up the bushing sleeve.

    A good thing to do is to put a bolt on the end of the bolt and then hit it with a hammer and avoid the mushroom of the bolt.

  • @joshuathomas6275

    Don’t pound the end you’ll mushroom it and it won’t fit through the hole. This sounds dirty..
