HOW TO REMOVE RUSTED/STUCK LEAF SPRING BOLT
Переглядів 1,6 тис.3 місяці тому
In this video I go over how I was able to remove a rusted leaf spring bolt from my truck. It’s a pretty common problem, the leaf spring bushing normally has a metal sleeve that the bolt gets rusted to over time which makes removing the bolt a pain. I’m not a mechanic. Any information taken from the video is at the viewers risk
Thank you very much,it was a great help
Glad it helped
New master and new booster for sure. Those babies look cooked.
That’s what I’m leaning towards. Both of them have seen better days😂
@OBSLIFE03 look forward to the rust repair! I grew up in the Midwest but live out west now. I don't miss all the rust and rot.
I use a sawzall and slice bolt both sides of spring 2 cuts on bolt and out it comes
Not sure how this is so much better than normal car/truck content and higher quality camera work and editing/narrating.. good stuff 😂❤
Thanks man. I’m still pretty new to this so hopefully the videos keep getting better and better
Damn that’s a nice looking truck. Rust makes me want to move to Arizona or something.
Same😂
Im having to do this to mine too bought it as a project kid ran it wild and screwed the whole thing it runs 😅 but it is rigged wires spliced rust everywhere i already redid the u joints ball joints ignition system and some of the electrical im already about 2k in and got much more to go :/ i need a new fuel system suspension and rust repair on top of all of this its lifted got 40's and all at home work done before me needs new tires alignment tierod and brakes just a new everything at this point lol
Sounds like a big project but it’s gonna be well worth it in the end.
amazing job man❤
Use the two hammer trick.
Yep, I bought a 1996 F250 7.3 Quad Cab, and it had a plow on it for about 1.5 years, I'm having to replace the warn winch bumper and front leaf springs
Same man, I just did front leaf springs in October and it was a pain to get those bolts out. It’s crazy what salt does.
2 weeks ago I just had the same problem. I was doing a RSK on my cclb. It was a pain. Took me an hour. I had no heat just a single jack hammer and breaker bar
Ill probably probable never have a need or get one of these but i watched anyways!
Dam. We just spent 2 separate days getting a leaf spring bolt and bushing out of a 2003 Chevy s10
How does it get in? Not condensation only. Keep 💧 water out
It depends but most of the water for me is coming through the back wall of the cab when it rains, the factory seam sealer failed and now water is able in get in
Not just fords or truck same thing with classics crown vics lincon town cars mgms
Great video! I bought my 2000 F250 7.3 in July of 1999 I replaced my rear springs 4 months ago and one bolt was just like the bolt you had issues with on your front springs. I will need to do my fronts hopefully soon . That changing those springs on the ground makes it harder. I bought a ramp lift recently cus at 66 I’m tired of crawling on the ground .
🫡💪👍✌️👊🔧🛠
Cut the ends off the bolt off pull the leaf spring out of the Mount. Use a brake drum puller with the right size deep well socket and push the whole problem out.
Fucking rust....
Mordecai?
When day turns into night 😢
Just get a bigger hammer, I got a 16 pound steel block welded to a 8in of flat bar. Does the job or breaks what it touches. Either way it works
Unload the pressure on the leaf spring and the bolt comes out.
Make your own tool. Just shorting cables
I don't understand why heat works...? Shouldn't it expand the bolt, making it more stuck in the hole?
I use a torch cant be stuck if its liquid
Tip for you, cut the head of the bolt flush. Go to the other side and use the nut and washers to use its own threads with an impact to take it off. Works well with heat added to the mix.
Hey, thanks for that. That's a pretty good thought. If one adds an air hammer to the cut off head end that would probably be pretty killer.
Get a brass hammer or thread a nut on before u hammer might save the bolt cool tool but my torch is 50$ and can light my campfires too
I used a 6 inch angle grinder and cutting disk, cut the bushing and bolt, left the hanger. Fell right off.
i had this happen last summer on my blazer leaf spring shackles snapped and the bolt was siezed on the bushing a day job turned into a 2 week problem
Get a bigger hammer and a real man to swing it like a man. 8 pound short handle sledge is perfect. If not my little 150 pound ass has a 25 lb sledge that will make short work of anything.
No offense but you are using that induction heater completely wrong. Sure it worked, but the proper application would have been to use it for removing the nut on the eyelet bushing.
Son spay sum lube let set few then heat to expand then cold water to shrink n break seal itll come of like butter n yes dont bypass the cold water✌️🤷♂️
I'm going to have to get one of those.
You can make a heat inductor, most likely cheaper than buying one, there are tutorials on UA-cam.
Induction heater is close to useless in this aplication. For this you need a oxigen-propane torch to heat up the bushing sleeve.
A good thing to do is to put a bolt on the end of the bolt and then hit it with a hammer and avoid the mushroom of the bolt.
Don’t pound the end you’ll mushroom it and it won’t fit through the hole. This sounds dirty..
You could try setting your purse down and using both hands on a real hammer.
That bolt looks like the least of your worries under there
KROIL !!!
You can get one in prison cheaper 🤣
There’s a tool I bought worth every dollar and that’s an angle grinder
next time buy a cordless rotary hammer
Heating the end of that bolt done nothing....stupid misleading video
Wouldn't that just heat the bolt and make the bolt tighter in the hole?...
If u are able, break them loose once a year, brush the rust off
Get it hot and hit it with a shot of penetrant
That is a tool I wish I had on many occasions 😂
Hit it with your purse next time Jesus Christ, first time with a hammer?
Ford garbage
