What our channel is about:
We bought this semi-detached bungalow in August 2022 and given ourselves 3years to flip the property and sell on. We have a target budget of £70,000! Natasha is the editor and video maker, while Rhys is the builder (a carpenter by trade). We plan on doing 95% of the work ourselves to keep costs down.
This channel is for documenting our experiences - Good or Bad. This is our first time doing anything like this with full times jobs! Can we stick within our budget? Will the building inspector pass each stage? and the biggest question...will we still be married at the end of the project? Subscribe to find out...

    I have a painted shaker style DIY kitchens kitchen. Fantastic. Very happy with my choice. The pull out drawers in the lader cupboard are a must have. Infinitely better than shelves. We also have the 'kidney' corners and find these very effective. We store all our plates on them and it has no signs of struggling with the weight. We have a pull out bin too. I can't stand a beautiful kitchen ruined by an ugly bin!

    Kitchens and bathrooms are something that is very important to buyers but I bet 99% of people never look in the cupboards when viewing a house. So spend on the visual elements not the fancy interior 'gadgets'. Great visualisation on the ipad, really shows it well. Island as a focal point might be good.

    Hi both Definitely spoiled for choice , normally the advice is don’t go for something that will quickly date . But with your plan to move on , this is probably not a consideration . Also not over spending on things is a valid concern , because you won’t necessarily get the investment back . Visual impact , with well thought out functionality is the best approach . Also with you both posting useful skills in design and construction , much can be achieved with minimal outlay . As a bit of a laugh the kitchen we still have , came from a DIY store some twenty years ago . It’s still going strong and shows no signs of giving up , it cost the princely sum of £2000 pounds . But will probably be replaced purely because of the dated looks , and even then some bits will finish up in the workshop . 😂. Bless you both as always .

    • @Selfbuild_TheJenkins
      @Selfbuild_TheJenkins 2 місяці тому

      We really thought we would have the kitchen designed and finished while we were at the showroom! It’s way too much to choose from, as for cost we keep cutting out the non essential but then feel like we are missing a treat by not getting what we want 😂 it’s way to hard trying to design the whole house ourselves we probably could have done with an interior designer 🙈

      We will be tanking all the wet area, to start I’ll seal the corners with silicone, then paint the corners with the tanking membrane and then install the corner flashings, going over all the joints etc. creating a water tight base before we start tiling

    Hi both Doesn’t seem that long ago since you were starting the office project , but to you it probably seems a lifetime ago . Surprised that the guttering went like it did , normally it’s pretty indestructible . Perhaps it might be a good time to consider a shed, to house some of the materials you intend to keep , especially things like paint that don’t respond well to frost . But it’s all very easy for me to say , and definitely know how quickly things can pile up on you . Kind regards as always

      You’re right, it feels like we built it decades ago!
