Same deal for an ellipsoid? A*x^2+B*x*y+C*y^2+D*x*z+E*y*z+F*z^2=0 So, that ellipse has algebra much like the (x+i*y)^n algebra of the circle. Seems like there might be something to try out there. See how it relates to the cot aspect of this.

I have an issue on 23:10. You have decided to set x and y to zero, but i have made y and z equal to zero and the distance is different now. My answer is 71/sqt(30) which is completely different asnwet than yours one? I think this could be a problem..
