Himachal Pradesh is famous for snow clad .mountains, famed hill stations, prominent temples and long winding rivers some of which have historic significance. This state is frequented by tourists round the year and is famous for religious tourism as it houses the maximum number of Shakti peeths where Sati Mata's body parts are believed to have fallen.
We visited Sri Jwalamukhi Temple on our way to Khanyara, a quaint village about 8 Km from Dharamshala. Mata,'s tongue is believed to have fallen here. The various forms of Durgaare worshipped in the form of natural flames or jyoti, the rime of whose emergence is unknown. The Temple has an aura of divinity as well as mysticism and the power of the Goddess can be felt deep within.
Khanyara is a beautiful and isolated village known to house the slate mines that provide employment to the local population. The beauty of the countryside is greatly enhanced by the serene landscape , the towering mountains, the hill stream the flows through the green valley, the flora and fauna and the natural creations of God. There are many staying options and we stayed at the Hill Stream Cottage which is registered with AirBnb website.
A big attraction adding to the experience is the Dharamshala Skyway that commenced operations about a year ago. The Skyway operates from Dharamshala to Macloedgunj a journey of around 15 mins. It offers breathtaking view of the valley, the surrounding mountains, the alpine trees and the countryside. It is a must visit during a trip to Dharamshala.
Ma Bagalamukhi Temple lies on the way from Dharamshala to Delhi. Just beyond Kangra this Siddhapeeth is very poplar and visited by Pilgrims.
