Channel dedicated to Final Fantasy XI and the unique experience of multi-boxing the game. Explores a unique addon in development called Silmaril and provides helpful tips for content such as monthly Ambuscade, Sortie, and Odyssey.
FFXI HTB - Cloud of Darkness
Still learning the fight so a few mistakes were made but this is the basics how I do the fight (fairly common route).
MNK usually DPS on CoD and the BRD/COR/COR kills the adds.
The "Red Mask" mode either absorbs Magic or Physical damage. I did a few Skillchains that healed it when it was in physical mode.
Below 25% health coming out of the absorb mode it will do a full dispel in addition to the short weakness.
This time I did not kill the add because it died too fast. Some fights I kill up to 4x of the adds. This was the first time I didn't get a double drop (Also forgot to tag TH4 so not sure if adds do effect drop rate like Lilith). Have seen all drops in 6 runs but mask seems most rare (1/11).
I just recommend doing the fight when you get Merits. My server already has no que time (2 days after release).

I decided to make a video on this fight as I found a lot of small tips that helped make the fight easier. One of the unique things when you mult-box these fights is you can control all the variables and find out what really makes a big difference. It's a long video but hopefully there is some information in there that helps you get that victory.

There is a lot to say about the mechanics and last time I did them but this time its not worth it due to gear creep. Basically the more Mamools you kill without having them throw their staff the stronger their magic attacks are. The key to this month is to not be greedy. The Voyager Moogle will use 1hr abilities at 85%, 65%, 45%, 25%, and 10% HP thresholds. The 1hr is random and after a few seconds you will get a Kaustra Aura (1k/tick) and virus. To counter this you need to stand by a Moogle. This month mechanics can one shot you if you don't bypass. Common method is to stun - with Leg Sweep/Flat Blade/etc. I prefer the Subtle blow method which is the route the video went. Chi Blast/Shijin Spiral/Sepulcher/Auspice are needed. Takes a lot of damage with skillchains.

Not much to say on this one. Just go ahead and zerg it. I didn't bother with any of the mechanics (Bar elements). Try not to face the MNK as it will block or counter so 2h weapons are strong this month. I used a SCH but WHM likely easier (especially if you have a Yagrush).

Slow month as you have to kill all enemies and cannot buff properly due to the steal mechanic. BRD/GEO/COR buffs cause the enemies steal and heal themselves. You will want to maximize haste and RDM, BLU, and DNC can help with this. If you kill the mine quick enough it will prevent the adds from waking up. It seems like magic damage helps reduce Perfect Dodge of the enemies. I use MNK/DRG/SAM/RD...

Pretty fun fight this month. I use Scherzo to avoid a 1 shot on the Rascal's 1hr at start. The only other thing to worry about is the skillchain the Monarch does. Simply watch for the shade to pop after the distortion skillchain and face the enemy. For this fight I used - PLD,WHM,COR,WAR,SAM,BRD. I turned the DPS way down this run and focused more on survivability. I like Dirge to make sure Kalunga never turns. This can happen once Enmity is capped (usually for me around 40%). I've had some sub 20% runs where he just spams Incinerating Lahar (weakness) and I just look at him for 5 min and time out. What server are you on bro there is way this can be done in Asura is impossible to get in
I don't know but any that isn't Asura, Odin or Bahamut would be fairly low pop for these fights. Or one of the bottom in the list with very few players on. I wouldn't personally recommend one of the low pop servers for several reasons but you do you.
Do you whitelist all the adds on your alts or just blacklist cloud of darkness?

VD - Should do fine. I rely a lot on Skillchain damage (Hence Allies Roll).

TBH I like slower kills to kill a few adds for what I believe is extra armor drop slots like Lilith. Who knows yet.... but 1-2min on a 30 merit fight is worth it for me.

Its amazing that you can even do this on multi box. I myself, multi box , but I don't have an in-depth knowledge of the stats abilities, to pull this type of stuff off. Plus the amount of coordination it takes with 6 characters is alot

I'm very curious on your PC specs and the amount of screens you have. How do you run 6 characters with High Shadow mode on and not crash?
@@demharart 4 screens - 6800xt and ryzen 7900 but I only game on one and just tab to one i want.
@@Project-Silmaril Thank you. I got 3 screens main game is 4k the other two are 2k. [gtx3080 & i7 9700k] Running the game in 4k screen with full shadows and weather on has been giving me a lot of issues to the point where I completely turned off the effects. Do you run all your instances in "borderless" mode and at 1080 & is your monitors native resolution at 1080 as well?

I wish this had some dialog on what to do and not to do. Have been having a rough go at this months Ambu.
Is this feature locked behind pay? The command to load gives me "License not found".
I have the same issue
Cool music, great graphics, perfect equipment, awesome strategy, controlling 6 chars... all at once! WOW! and... ya... you completely missed the point of the game itself. The challenge of playing with other people, the joy... the frustration... the overcoming of difficulties, learning to have patience... talking with others... ya...... way to go on fucking up the entire point.
Or maybe some people like different things in different ways?. For instance, I'd much prefer multiboxing over having to party with someone like you.
multiboxxing started because of 2 things 1: not enough ppl to do content (extremly frustrating to shout for hours, to end up giving up because well nobody answeared, it is a slowly dying game after all) 2: the over elitist ppl, that think they are, too good for the average player, to bother playin with them thus back to point 1 thus multioxxing appeared, dont like it ? then next time you see someone shouting for hours, for ambu, odc, sortie, dyna or whatever, remember that by ignoring it, your part of the reason why it became a thing
@@anguel87 answer: the server you are on sucks, move to a popular one. Likewise, if you are shouting for hours... your shouts suck or you are a terrible player that people don't want to play with. Sounds like multiboxing is for you, but no street cred to someone who doesn't play with others imo, these videos are sad, not impressive.
@@ekeko9108 this months ambu is a joke, tp the horse and ws the boss, you can take literally anyone, tons of setups, so making videos where you have 6 accounts doing it... like its something to marvel, is sad/pathetic.
@@xibalbabarca5350 Moving to a popular one just cements the fact that if you're not 2100 Mastered JP i119 After Glow REMA and HQ geared, no one cares about you unless you throw millions of gil at them. Then your option is to either multibox or earn tons of gil to replace the human heart with. You also have much long wait lines to do things and more competition on farming stuff. Basically, you have to become a leader and find out where your weaknesses are and build upon it and then build the people around you to win. If you can't find people to build around you, then you stop playing the game, stay solo or no end game stuff, multibox, or try to join a linkshell that's designed for your current game capabilities, even if it means jumping to another server.

But you circumvent the entire interactions/strategy/communication/problems/fun/etc. of doing this challenging fight with other people... the whole point of playing ffxi. Sad.

@@Project-Silmaril We did over 15 million damage to the bigwig in a few runs and we wiped. It looks like you did no more than 5-10 mil damage and killed it with ease
@@PeterKeuneVideos you have to have low hp but enough to live through his tp move. If you cure all the way you will have a long fight.

is there a way for all alts to only attack what the main alt is attacking? doing ambuscade with fish mobs and would like all the alts just to fight the same thing
Combat assist. Put the "main" name in player field and they will assist.
Great video, and most importantly thanks for the incredible work on Silmaril. Did you happen to have damage numbers for this fight? How much DPS over that kill for MNK and WAR? Or relative % damage numbers for the mnk/war/rdm/geo?

@@Switchman-Q8 time of day can make a big impact. I actually tried to do Gaol on the weekend but there was 1-2 seconds sometimes between actions. Just ended up trying during the week. This is of course server lag not PC lag (like stuttering etc).
