No bowls, utensils, or heat source needed. Thing with a hurricane is you might end up in a shelter where you can't heat up food. High caloric foods are key. Water is an absolute necessity. Kids juice boxes might be very useful too.

$22 forthe meat is not a bad price. Considering just how far you can stretch it by making meatballs, adding lentils or beans to half a pound of hamburger in Spaghetti Sauce etc. And, the pantry items will certainly last over several months so even though you went " over" by $3, in the long run you really didnt. Example : the Banana Peppers - if they were priced at $3.52 and used within 6 months they would only cost $.59 / month.

We have sales tax on our food in Louisiana also. Texas doesn't but I'm not sure where else doesn't tax food.

U sound out of breath speaking. I eat 2x a day; 8 hrs between meals. I spend $15 wk on groc. Mostly non starchy veggies 3 oz meat protein. Drink lots of water & herbal tea. 1 cup coff in a.m. I portion control my meals cuz im 76. I wont b buying food in jun. I need to finish what I have. No menu planning. Nice to see that u do. Salt/pepper & creole seasoning that is all i use. I buy my veggies on sale, in bulk & freeze them in freezer bags. So i dont really groc shop often. My $15 week groc is avg out on what i purchase.

What state do you live in? I'm just curious because you had to pay tax on food, and where I live in Ohio food (unless it is eating in a restaurant) is tax free. Looks like you did find some good deals.

I make bags of veggies I use in recipes lately. All chopped and ready to go. Im going to start doing carrots and celery for the freezer too.

I live alone, but often buy celery, which comes in humungous sizes. But what I do is use them as a salad base rather than lettuce. I do this with finely sliced cabbage, too. The last cabbage I bought was a five pounder because that is all they had. So I just keep taking chunks off of it to put in with chicken pieces, potatoes, or just to make a plate of cole slaw. Root vegetables last a long time in the crisper, but I try to use them every day or at least every other day, as I abhor throwing food away, and only do if there is something wrong with it, which is seldom. Making sure I get vegetables and fruits every day in my diet helps me work through too much produce. I also cook and freeze it if I can't use it right away. I have a fairly small freezer compartment, so using things up is important. Some people just keep throwing food into the freezer that they bought on sale (or not) and don't have a clue as to what is buried in there. That is a waste of money, because freezer burn sets in after awhile and the food is thrown out.

You dont subtract sugar to get net carbs. You subtract fiber from total carbs and subtract sugar alchohols from that

Sugar IS A CARB!!! You only deduct fiber to get net carbs so it's 7. All the white foods convert to sugar; and quickly. If anyone there is diabetic BE CAREFUL!

Net carbs are only sugar alcohols and fiber minus total carbs. FYI. ❤

I bought those same eggs. What I noticed was the yolks are smaller than the local supermarket same size eggs. I had cracked one of the supermarket and one of the Sam’s to fry and there was a very noticeable difference.
