Just want to point out that it is not strictly true that you cant ride buy and ride a bike without state residency. Myself and many friends of mine have purchased bikes in many different states on both the East and West coasts and many central states in between have been issued with a 30 day temporary license. Some have extended a couple of weeks more than that and then simply turned up at the shipping agent and exported it. The shipping and US customs do not care about the plate, all they want is proof of purchase and ownership and work entirely from the stamped VIN number on the frame and the sales document, nothing else. Also you can claim back all taxes paid on the bike from US customs before you leave and you will receive it in your bank account several weeks later. If you buy a motorcycle in Canada, being a British Commonwealth country, the rules are more relaxed (same in Australia and New Zealand) and you can usually find a friendly motorcycle shop that will register it to their address in your name and send the documents to your home address later when you get home or on to a designated address further onwards in your journey which can be useful if you intend to ride from Alaska to Argentina for instance as you pick them up before you cross the Mexican border. Crossing from Canada to the USA they will not ask for them as long as you don't raise the issue, and even when I mentioned that I was riding a British registered bike that I had flown over on Canada Airways they told me they didn't care and just told me to cross the border.

What are the Charges you had to pay at the Port? AES quoted me $450 from Chicago to Dubai but they said I have to pay other charges when I pick up my Motorcycle at Dubai port. Still have to pay customs duty if I am shipping Temporarily?

Hi, I'm planning to go for finals on 18th. The saudi visa for hayya card says validity till 18th. So how do I enter to saudi from qatar after the match. I guess we'll be late to reach the border because of the rush. So do u know if there's any grace or extension?
