Wow, this a was a little mini saga to create...or at least wait on the final materials. I just couldn't bring myself to start the hair just on the off chance it didn't fit her head. So worth the wait and even though I have made far more intricate and detailed items over the decades, Wednesday is by far my favorite crochet project ever. Are you going to make your own? What I'm crocheting this fall - NOT the 6 Day Star Blanket
Amazon has been slipping. Their UI and 2 day shipping that we pay for . What for?
Interesting. I'm not a big Amazon person but that's good to know.
I don’t think anyone in the work place should be yelling and screaming at another employee. Does that come under harassment or something, I can’t think of. Hope it all works out for you. Your seem like a very kind person Holly. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Diana. 💜 I was really irritated when the only reason I missed an "outstanding" rating is because of the "opportunity to be more resilient." Meanwhile she got promoted from VP to Executive VP??? It's nuts. And I called off today because partly I was having a bit of stomach upset from a medication change but mostly because my boss wants me to supervise a temporary to hopefully permanent employee. Which on the surface sounds like a great opportunity. Until she started lobbying our VP yesterday to get a candidate what works out to $4 more per hour than what I make. My flabbers were unbelievably ghasted and I needed to rethink a LOT and decide how I'm planning to point that out.
Hi Holly? l`m new here, l found l needed a Car 4 my job & My job 4 my Car. So l let -em both go, it was the best thing l could have done 4 myself ! CHEERS
Hi and welcome! I can see that. I don't have a car note or anything, just regular bills. Glad that worked for you 💜
When I realized that I was spending the vast majority of my paycheck to manage my health issues that are exacerbated by work. I didn’t have enough money left over to pay for services in regards to my brain and mental health. I’m lucky to have a fully supportive partner. It was in this time we learned that I’m AuDHD and I would never notify my employer of any of my private diagnoses let alone a stigmatised one. My doctors note’s asked for things like “a chair with lumbar support and arm rests”.
Know your worth. We have been in a skilled labor shortage for over a decade. When someone at work is toxic, especially a superior the people who are not used to abuse leave and the ones left behind either decline in mental health or decide they can abuse others also until the entire workplace is hell.
Yeah, I'm just swinging through Indeed every so often now. Just in case something else pops up. I'm also a recent/late diagnosis and connected with others from Mom on the Spectrum and yeah... they confirmed that it's either not much help to put it on the record, or some people make it worse with gaslighting, or they treat you with kid gloves like you're a toddler. Not worth mentioning. Thanks for your perspective and hanging out!
omg the glitchy websites!!! yes!! i thought it was just me but every time i try to order from micheals it literally won't even let me look at my cart, it says it's empty and automatically refreshes the page like every 2 seconds so i can't even click on anything!! soooo annoying
No, they're all TERRIBLE. And don't get me started on the apps... it's sooo annoying.
You also risk getting hair color or bleach in the project and that would be tragic as well.
I guess it could but whatever they use c on me isn't particularly "drippy." But certainly not while they are applying the color or lightener!
The projection is strong within THAT one. 🤭 He tried to make you feel how he feels. Selfish.
Haha you are so right!
I’m working on my first basket pattern. I was consistently adding 6 stitches per row but suddenly came up 1 stitch short. I recounted at least 5 times and got the right number but it didn’t land in the right spot? I frogged the whole row and counted the row below. No error. So I redid the row, came up with the same error, recounted and recounted and….. moved on. 🥴
I have also been there! Like what the heck am I doing wrong? Do I even know how to count? Then it's like ok, fudge it and move on. They'll never know!
Hi! New here. Sorry you're going through this. I've been struggling with a toxic work environment also, and I keep suffering through it because it's difficult to find something in my area that makes more/the same/even slightly less than what I'm making. I feel like I'm constantly recovering from working in that environment, and it's just not worth sacrificing my mental health for the money, but at the same time I need to survive monetarily! If this job is causing you mental trauma/triggering you, in my opinion it isn't worth your energy. It doesn't hurt to look on indeed and job hunt to see if there's stuff out there that might be more beneficial to your mental health. Good luck out there!
Thanks for stopping by! It's so unfortunate this is not a "one off" and others have to deal with nonsense. Best wishes - hopefully the right thing comes along. I'll keep my eyes peeled but I dunno. I do enjoy hybrid and that part helps. We'll see...
Life is too short to be screamed at all day! Put yourself first and leave as soon as you can.
That is true. I just hate that it's only one person that's causing problems so I'd like to think resolution is coming.

Oh nooo!
dont leave a job until you have another job to go to......
Oh of course I would never leave without something else lined up.
I make cloth plushies and "YOU SHOULD MAKE AXOLOTLS THEY'LL SELL LIKE HOTCAKES" Erm, thanks but no thanks. I don't feel comfortable selling my plushies. "YOU SHOULD SELL THEM!!!"
Omg yes. The last person who said that to me (she wanted 3 plushies) I quoted her what I thought sounded like a stupid amount. She said ok sure that's totally fine. Well then.... lol. I was able to use the money at the time but now I'm like, nah. Not in 2025.
Ha! Ha! This is why I fear crochet... the triangle!!!!
Awwww! There are so many great tutorials out there. Really what had happened to me was I hadn't crocheted in a while and TOTALLY forgot to do the steps that make it square.
@@StitchesGonnaStitch I really need to look into it because I got hooked on a granny square tutorial last week (actually, I made one at the same time!) I find some projects are more interesting in crochet!!
@estefanamanrique3317 actually this is a great point. It's nice to learn new skills but if you prefer projects that don't require a particular skill, then feel free to skip it!
❔️ Thoughts ❔️ Curious about the other channel, check it out here: www.youtube.com/@ManageableLiving
I like your videos on both channels. Take your time, but please come back! Im so burned out, and i have no idea what my stupid channel is morphing into. Is dumpster fire a niche?
Awwww. I think my views dipped on the other largely because decluttering got the most views and I started making videos on topics *around* decluttering. Sometimes it's good to experiment because that's how my decluttering videos became more central to my channel. I did not expect it to pop like it did. I'm not leaving UA-cam though!!
Yes! Quit! Oh... wait... i should watch the video first. ❤ i only said "quit" because i stayed at a very very toxic job for 9 years too long.
Hahaha! Fair....
Really liking your content!!!
Thank you 💜 I appreciate you hanging out some more!
I really like how you describe the feeling of the yarn on various needles. Great info!!! I only knit and crochet for myself and gifts because people don’t appreciate cost or work involved in making, regardless of media.
Thanks - and yes absolutely most people do not get it. And they think that because I *have* yarn already, it's basically free. That's not how that works...
OMG I’m going to have to do this. Where did you get your box cutter?
Yes, she is so worth it even if you just do regular polyfil to save some money there. But every time I smoosh her the silky is soooo worth it. Here's the link but there are other styles of Slice as well. When I was a warehouse manager though everyone loved this style because you could hook it on a belt loop. Blades last a really long time compared to traditional. amzn.to/48Bl0VC
Do what pleases you when you knit!
Exactly. I was like that's an interesting opinion...😆
LIKE MAKE IT MAKE SENSE??? BOY NO ONE IS GETTING MY CREATIONS UNLESS THEY DESERVE IT 🤣
😆 AMEN!
Hobbies are hobbies , dumba-
Ha.
Right?
I've a jumper I made for myself, and I've still to sew it together. It's been that way for a while. We often give more to others. Time, energy and love. Sometimes it's nice to make something for yourself. ❤
Exactly! Overall in my life I have likely given more than I've kept so now its my turn.
I’m obsessed with Tunisian crochet but have only practiced it. It makes pretty nice straps for tank tops, not stretchy (I used the double crochet tunisian stitch). I have my eye on the hot cocoa poncho by TL Yarn Crafts. It doesn’t feel slow to me, reminds me of in write offs when you could go faster writing one word at a time all the way down instead of each whole sentence line by line. I love tapestry crochet but have only used it with mosaic crochet. I’m seeing gorgeous mosaic crochet patterns with curved lines and I’m loosing my mind wondering when I’ll work them into my wips.
I may have to give it a fair shake. I did have a Tunisian crochet stitch type tutorial hit my UA-cam homepage that looked neat. I was also teaching myself from magazines back in the day which probably made it 100 times slower. I'm sure there are mosaics and tapestries I'd want to do if I look, but I already have so much other stuff I want to make. I have no business adding to that queue...
Such a random coincidence, and this has nothing to do with handcrafts, but I also had a revelation about turning a hobby into a career while playing in a military band - for me it was conscription though, not employment, so I already knew when my last day would be when I started. It was absolutely an excellent experience overall and, if it were possible, I would do the year-long stint again, but it definitely solidified for me that, as fun as it was, I do not want to be a professional musician and instead want to keep it as a hobby I can enjoy. I think knowing that it will end on a specific day made it easier on the bad moments, because I knew it would not last forever and a different kind of life was waiting for me afterwards. But it also made the good moments all the more bittersweet... After leaving service, it took me quite a while to first of all find the joy of playing again and then to rediscover the type of music I like playing and the type of ensemble I like to be a part of. Nowadays, I play in an amateur orchestra whose level is high enough to be a nice challenge but not too high that it would suck the joy out of it, and I love it there. I am so happy I found the love of making music again.
Awww that's great! I haven't gotten the music bug back (yet). I have gone through periods of not crafting if I took too many orders and burnt myself out. Glad you were able to rediscover the joy!
❔️How many times did you spot Wednesday 🖤❔️
Axolotl I don’t understand what the attraction is. Where has this fish been hiding. I never knew about them up until a few months ago. 🤷🏼♀️I’m afraid to try mosaic crochet I have a few patterns just need to sit down and do it.
Haha right? It's so weird that people suddenly love them. Mosaic doesn't do anything for me because I'm not into super geometric patterns. It's neat but not something that draws me in. I'm sure you can do it! I think I've seen some tutorials on UA-cam if you get stuck.
They're cute little amphibians but... Why?
@@draconicfeline6177 It just seems bizarre that what, a year or two ago nobody even knew what the heck an axolotl is and now they're all they rage. They're fine, I just don't get why they're so popular.
I’ve been crocheting for about 20 years. I still suck at straight edges. I love that you’re saying this. 😊 thank you
Yes! If you don't turn your work exactly the same direction every time... which I never remember *especially* if I set it down.
@ OMG thank you it just clicked. I have liked and subscribed. You’re Awesome 😎
Awww thank you. And that's great you got it!
I understand no-sew patterns in concept but I don't get it as a supposed benefit. I often make more mistakes in the ones that go out of their way to be no-sew that should just sew. I guess it's because I was a sewist for a long time before starting crochet relatively recently (just coming up on a year). I am not a designer. I'm a remixer. I have taken similar parts from one pattern for another. Or smashing up concepts. But I will def rewrite a purchased pattern for my format if I will make it again (I like to have ending stitch counts and explicit number of repeats vs "repeat until X number of stitches left"). Woobles has given me high mathematical expectations for patterns that a lot don't meet, especially when the row counts are too prose-y.
I never tried a Woobles kit but it's on my list to rate at least one of them. I don't know if I'd consider myself a remixer as much as a reimaginer. I don't make many no sew patterns because a lot of them don't appeal to me or I'd rather have the more detailed design that requires sewing. I have found myself basically rewriting. If that Grim Reaper I rated would have been printer friendly I would have printed it and made it bleed ink as they say.
Im doing an ATC challenge. My first time, I was so nervous. Its just gluing paper on paper and stickers on paper. Sigh. Everyone has been really nice, though. This was a good video.
Ok I'm stumped: what's an ATC challenge? Glad you enjoyed 😊
@StitchesGonnaStitch artist trading card. You make a card with whatever the challenge is. I got "pumpkin". I enjoy all your videos!
Hi Holly! Have you ever tried crocheting fun clothing or costumes for your cats?? Like a sweater, hat, scarf something like that?? That would be super cute and fun for the holidays ❣️
Hi! I prefer not to get sliced to pieces 🤣 I can't even get a collar or harness on the grown cats, Maddie is just big enough to see if she'll tolerate it.
I'll be honest, I havent even started the video properly, 9 seconds in and I've subbed because I could have related to what you've said already 😂 only on my 3rd day of learning so I need all the relatable info I can get
Awwww. Thanks for hanging out! I'll try to work on some tutorials soon!
@@StitchesGonnaStitch that'll be great, thank you! I'll look forward to them for sure.
I've literally in the last 24 hours frogged a project twice to figure out a mistake... it's ok.. :)
I have so been there. Or been so frustrated it goes into time out. If I'm super lucky a fellow yarny will take over if I hit ultimate frustration mode...
🧶Don't forget to share with a friend!💛 ua-cam.com/video/PuXtnMuI8aA/v-deo.html
I really appreciate this video. I honestly don't remember struggling to learn tactile things but mind things were another story. Im a visual learner but can follow a written pattern and recently got better at diagrams. Perfect at it! No, but good enough for me! My mom was a perfectionist in everything, especially her crochet. At the level of life I'm in now, with hand challenges, i cant afford to be. I consider myself an intermediate/advanced crocheter. Do I leave "mistakes" in my work? ABSOLUTELY. Like you, I do try to allow them if the won't be seen. I'd like to call them creative omissions or additions unless the COUNT will be affected. I have to be selective if I want to be able to crochet at length or at all. Thanks again!
Thank you 💜 I don't know if I've ever made a crochet item from a diagram honestly. If there are written instructions, I'm following those. I've had friends call mistakes "design elements." 😊
Yeah I also have my hand pain to thank for helping me quash my perfectionism. Learning how to recognise that “good enough” might actually be “great” has helped in other areas of my life where I torture myself.
@@LennyLefebvre-qb6qx @LennyLefebvre-qb6qx I have an afghan I believe my great aunt made. For the first few years I never noticed the mistakes. Now I can't unsee a few of them but it oddly makes me feel comforted that it's still a perfectly good blanket. I sincerely doubt non-crocheters would notice.
Free patterns and inexpensive crochet hooks got me into the hobby. I'd tried to learn to crochet before, and I never understood it until I found the videos on UA-cam. Now I buy my patterns because I've found artists I just love.
Oh I agree, it's fantastic that there are free patterns for beginners or for those who don't have budget for patterns. My gripe is mainly the market prep videos that say they have tried and true money makers but then make it to be so terrible that they had to spend $5 on a pattern that makes them money. There are certainly times I've had to pass over paid patterns because paying bills was more important.
I love your outlook and positivity. Subscribed. 😊❤
💜 thank you 😊
I bought this. And thought it wasn't well written at all. You're being generous.
Oh nooo, I was trying to be fair since it mostly just seemed out of order. I will say I was shocked at how many good reviews there were on the etsy listing when I went back to look and see if I missed any red flags.
🖤This guy is so cute, I genuinely hope others are able to make him. I want him to go viral but...the pattern could use another editing pass so hopefully this is helpful!🧶🎃
🧶What yarny trends did I miss or do you have opinions on❓️
I feel you on the point about everyone having to be a designer. I will happily pay for a good, tested pattern. No need to reinvent the wheel! (For example, I'm so very thankful that someone else did the work to write pretty much the exact pattern I was seeking for a basic knit-in-the-round pullover. It was well worth the $6 I paid to have a go-to pattern, so I went back to the designer's shop and bought her cardigan pattern too!)
Yes! And I will happily pay a premium for say, a Kitman Figueroa $12 knitted, intricate, beaded, all the things pattern because I know I'm always going to get a very nice, thorough pattern. I understand it's not always easy to pay that - and I've certainly been there and had to wait until I could fit it in my budget. When I started this channel and IG I was like ok, what do I have to design to share and bring people in? But the idea didn't bring me joy so... I'll stick to hanging out, pattern reviews, I have an ergonomic hook review coming, genersl opinions, etc. I will eventually do some tutorials for a very specific purpose but that's also a longterm video project that will be at least a few weeks away for the first in a series.
@@StitchesGonnaStitch Can't wait for the pattern reviews! Love the way you do things on your channel because it feels like sitting and crafting with a friend.
Thank you so much for saying that.💙 That was exactly my goal - I did have a pattern review go up last week (maybe Tuesday?) but it didn’t get pushed out much so I’m not sure if it’s a good format to keep going with.
And I agree, let’s have some uplifting stuff!
Awww I'm so glad this is being well received!
What a beautiful story ❤ I hope that guy in Ohio doesn’t lose his spark ⚡️ for life!! This was a great video 🎉
Thank you! I doubt he'll stop.
He's very cute! Thank you for sharing.
You're welcome! He's definitely worth making if you can get through the pattern.
I really want to know what all you said! I agree with about the first half of your video, but you hadn't gotten to your point by then, and that running water in the background drove me nuts! I've been trying to get into selling my knit and crochet items, but I do intricate work with tiny hooks and needles, so it takes a long time and generally is not worth the prices I'm able to charge. Kudos to you for making it work! If enough of us demand to be paid for our time, the popular thinking will eventually change.
Sorry I usually unplug the cat fountain but sometimes I forget. But exactly, if everyone started sticking to standard pricing it would possibly be worth it. But unfortunately I've been to craft shows as a customer and there is always at least one booth that only charges a little more than the yarn cost.
Elephants are a symbol of wisdom, and your story is full of wisdom. Creative people develop their skills through personal enjoyment and personal expression. Turning that into a monotonous job for money takes the joy out of it, even though a mark of success is people paying you for your skills, because they find value in the things you make. It's an odd thing that I think many creative people struggle to make sense out of. But yeah, great storytime.
Thank you! 💜 Elephants are my favorite animal so I am honored for the wisdom comment. I do think it's one HUNDRED percent OK to make your job crochet but I don't want anyone to get burnt out and it's worth having alternate hobbies outside of yarn. I can't remember who it was I watched recently that said the only reason they every sell is because they keep making things but can't keep everything. I thought that was so incredibly valid and probably going to be how I view selling. If I have enough extras, or I decide I loved this thing once and now prefer others, it'll be OK to let it go.
