Deployable Dome D30 V2 - Workshop SMiA - Nottingham Trent University 2020
Deployable structures with articulated straight bars are a good option to be applied in the emergency architecture. And the deployable domes with articulated straight bars, an efficient alternative to apply from the academy. In the 60s the Architect Emilio Perez Piñero left us references of geodesic deployable dome with three straight folding bars systems. And in recent years, the architect Felix Escrig and the architect José Sánchez Sánchez made important contributions in the design of deployable domes with bi-articulated straight bars, developing scale models and prototypes.
From the SMiA (Structural Morphology in Architecture) research group of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and in collaboration with the Master of Architecture of the Nottingham Trent University, we propose the design and construction of a deployable dome of approximately 30 square meters, with an alternative geometry of hexagonal modules. Using high tech in design and low tech in construction. Focused on the application of emergency architecture.

Looks like i'm the only dude in my country who wants to build the same structure :(. Well, if you are on budget, use threads and bamboo skewers. For joints i used aluminum pipe chopped to rings.

Buenas, quisiera saber que programas usa para la elaboración de los prototipos, soy estudiante de arquitectura y estoy desarrollando un proyecto que tiene que ver con este tipo de estructuras, agradecería si pudiera responderme.
Hola Erick, gracias por tu interés. Realmente no usamos un solo programa. Nos apoyamos en varios, tanto para el estudio de movimiento como para los análisis de fuerzas y deformaciones. Entre ellos el GH & Rhino. Tambien el Solidworks.

Hola, Nosotros somos un grupo de investigación de la UPC. BarcelonaTech. La investigación sobre estructuras desplegables y su diseño parametrico son parte de una tesis doctoral que esta en proceso. Hasta que la tesis no sea presentada, defendida y publicada no es posible enseñar las definiciones en Gh. Tan pronto esto suceda publicaremos la info en nuestra web. saludos.
