You can enjoy this album at a surface level, but knowing the concept adds so many layers to it. The primary concept is based on a voicemail that Amy Winehouse left on her producer’s phone. She talks about how she can’t stop coming up with battle raps, and how she’ll battle anyone because she’s a Samurai. (You can find the voicemail on UA-cam. The chorus on Samurai is a piece of her message verbatim). In addition to that he weaves in his own real life journey as an artist since it parallels the main concept. On the song Samurai, he’s painting a portrait of Amy, and at the end, she goes to her friend’s place, grabs a tea, and falls asleep. (In real life she died in her sleep of alcohol poisoning. On Mumble Rap, she wakes up with a song in her heart, but he goes back to tell the story about the dream she had where she met someone who caused her to be possessed with raps then won a rap battle. Every time she opens her mouth, raps come out. In the beginning she’s just mumbling raps to herself. So, the chorus isn’t a parody of mumble rap, it’s about what’s happening to her. At the end her alarm goes off, and unlike real life, we know she wakes up because of the beginning of the song. So he resurrects her thru this song. Cake is her actual first battle that she wins. The rest of the album is about the ups and downs of her and him being artists. He merges the two stories on Til Eternity.

i think my current favourites are routines and navigating for the vibes and how real the lyrics are and oldies station because it makes me so emotional. Recommend checking out the music videos for these videos too because they are super creative.

Navigating is my favorite, I totally relate to the lyrics of that song, the part that he’s trying to come to terms that “everybody leaves” just hits me hard, because in the end, it’s true 🥲🥲🥲 I’m looking forward to the last part of your reaction but I do want to say that the album version of The Craving is different to the single that they released, there are two versions, check out the one on the album!!

There's a big arenarock influence on this record. Like you say, some tracks would be great played live in a stadium. T.b.h. I think this The Midnight's weakest album by far, but the titletrack is one of the best tracks they ever made; they clearly listened to the Toto-song 'Home of the Brave' as an inspiration.

What's good fam? Constructive criticism: Even though you're video recording, your audio is most important. At certain points you're reading as if you're not gonna have an audience, so you're mumbling. If you read to yourself you have to reread again so we can hear clearly. You have to assume your audience may not be able to see what you see. So read loud and clear from the start. Also try to chill on the movement in the chair, because your vocals go in and out. These are things you can't fix with editing unless you record multiple times. You need to position your chair so you can sit back comfortably, still be heard clearly, and not have to lean in so much or get and upright chair. The track is dope, one of my favorites. The Genius explanations are suspect in certain spots.

This FISH song is not long enough. That's my only complaint.
