Challeges for training AI models
One of the biggest hurdles in training AI models is the availability and quality of data. Currently, AI systems scrape the internet, leveraging the vast amount of digital information humans have created. However, this approach has a twofold problem: AI will eventually exhaust high-quality data sources and start relying on lower-quality user generated content, and then eventually AI-generated content. This shift poses significant challenges:
Bias Amplification: AI models trained on biased data will perpetuate and even amplify these biases, creating echo chambers where only certain perspectives are reinforced.
Loss of Diversity: As AI replicates existing patterns, fields like storytelling and marketing may suffer from a lack of innovation and diversity, leading to repetitive and uninspired content.
Model Collapse: Training AI on AI-generated data can degrade the quality of models over time, resulting in less useful and innovative outputs.
Despite these challenges, there’s a silver lining. Human oversight remains crucial in curating and correcting AI models, ensuring that biases are addressed and diversity is maintained. Original content creators will continue to play a vital role, as their unique contributions are essential for innovation. Additionally, careers in AI and data science will thrive for those who continuously innovate and add value beyond what AI can replicate.

    Another reason of hiring an external data agency and contracting them to work on specific period and after the built still relying on same data agency to support and maintain is the financial model: opex vs capex. When done in-house, the comany needs to invest upfront on tools, licenses and hire permanent staff that are usually counted as capex or capital expense. But when contracted to a data agency, they still pay but count it as opex or operational expense. Maintenance and support are considered as BAU expense and contract can be terminated after certain period, i.e. 5 years which is usually tied with the review whether to decommission the applications kr reports. The company sometimes have budget for opex when revenue is forecasted, usually annually and that makes the cost manageable as it is spread across the period. Paying it upfront like in capex needs huge investment and it appears as a huge portion of the budget, making it difficult to convince the decision makers to do data analytics in-house. I know tbis because I have hired data analyts as contractors. Their rates are higher but has a definite end-date which makes it easier to calculate in the budget and count it as opex. In government organisations, it’s easier to get funding for opex than capex, making it favorable to hire external data agency.

    • @Shorful
      @Shorful 15 днів тому

      That is an excellent point, and I've also experienced this when budgeting. Much easier to get contractors or an agency signed off then a permanent team, as it's not a fixed cost and if budgets are tight the following year, that expense is easy to cut from the budget.

    • @Shorful
      @Shorful Місяць тому

      I rarely do live coding sessions as you can't really test people with real-world problems, only model exercises, so for me, these do not really prove much. I prefer to understand how they would solve problems and this should mean using resources found on with Google or ChatGPT

      For mid level roles, the 3rd is optional but for senior it is. But 2 and a half hours is good, some companies have technical tests or assessment days, which can double that time.

PowerBI you should know how to create a dashboard, be able to connect most data sources and have some basic knowledge of DAX.

    If anyone reads this, do not, I repeat DO NOT try and get into data analytics. You will fail. What people don't realize is that data science, at least at the entry level, is EXTREMELY easy. Ask yourself why everyone suddenly wants to transition to data from something completely unrelated. It's not because they suddenly got a "PaSsIon fOr DaTa". It's because the field is very easy to learn, and for a while, mid 2010s to 2021-ish, you could waltz into a data job with minimal effort. It's those same people who did that, now have courses to teach you how to supposedly break into data, while they parrot idiotic outdated advice and make millions at your expense. Find a different career path, and see if you can transition laterally into data. You will not break into data jobs unless you get a degree in analytics and convert an internship to a full time job.

    • @Shorful
      @Shorful Місяць тому

      It is harder to get a data analyst role, especially if you are new. However, with the way the economy is, it seems that all data roles are scarce. Once the economy picks up, I believe roles will return. I agree, it won't be as easy as before, but these roles are not going anywhere in the short term.

  • @mushymush223
    @mushymush223 2 місяці тому

    Entry level data jobs are gone for good. That's just a fact. If you got into the field pre-2021, you now have 3 years of exp and you're the new entry level. For anyone else trying to break into the field, you're out of luck,. Find a new career path. Simple as that.

    • @Shorful
      @Shorful Місяць тому

      I think there will always be entry level roles. Things are tough now as the economy is not doing so well, but entry level roles will return in greater numbers when things improve.

      There is a whole host of reasons, some listed below, but I am sure there are many more 1. They don't have the skills with their current team 2. They don't have capacity 3. They don't want to do the task 4. The sponsor of the project doesn't want the in-house team to do it 5. The sponsor of the project doesn't know about the in-house team 6. The CEO or someone senior wants to use an external team for whatever reason 7. The consultancy has a reputation, and the company wants to test them 8. The company is thinking of outsourcing some or all of the analytical activities Like I said, there may be more, but just some I have experienced or know about.

      I wouldn't advise starting any data agency without some practical work experience, paid or unpaid. If you do decide to start without any job/work experience, then do as much training as you can. Also read case studies on now digital analytics has helped businesses, so you understand the value it adds. Finally, speak with digital analysts. Network with them and ask them about what they do and what tools they use.

      A few projects I would do would be 1. Tag a website and capture some events. 2. Build a marketing funnel dashboard in GA and Looker Studio, which analyses key conversion steps 3. Take about 12 months of data and answer a simple business question of how engagement on the site changed over the last 12 months. 4. Create a monthly or quarterly business performance review. Think about what a business would want to know every month or quarter.

My recommendation is to do some research on each stage and then work out what type of role you want, then determine the best course/resource for each part of the roadmap from your research.

      @Mullaa-uj4kg it is as good as any other course. However, my advice is to check with prospective employers what they are looking for. Only do a course if it either adds to your knowledge or value to your CV.

    Very informative video brother, thank you! I'm building a data as a service product and a lot of times when I try to scrape data from a website or when I try to sell customer data (anonymized), I get a doubt that I may be doing something Haram and I stop doing it. Could you please record a video where you show the do's and don'ts in the data industry from an islamic/ethical perspective. P.S: I have just sent you a LinkedIn connection request. جزاك الله خيرا Anwar

      That's a good question. From an ethical perspective, I can provide some guidance, I'm not a scholar of Islam to provide an Islamic perspective, but I will assume ethical practices on the whole will align with Islamic principles. I'll try and do a video on this, but in terms of scraping data, most websites will have in their policy if you can do this and if you can what are the limits of that. So read those, and that should guide you on what is ethical/Islamic in terms of scraping data. The next part is how you conmercialize the data. I believe, rather than just sell the raw data, try and package it or add some value, which means that the service or product you are selling is more than the raw data you have scraped.

      @@Shorful Thank you for your insights on ethical data scraping and commercialization. You rightly point out the importance of adhering to website policies and enhancing the value of scraped data before selling it. This approach not only aligns with ethical practices but also adds a unique touch to the data used. Looking forward to your video for more detailed discussion!

    Is 27 too late to go to school for data science ? I’m completing a Codecademy course right now to get familiar with data but I just want to know if companies care about your age compared to experience when starting

    • @Shorful
      @Shorful 3 місяці тому

      It's a bit tougher now going in late to data science then it was before. But if you can gain the skills, build a specialism then it should be possible. But you have to differentiate yourself from graduates who have a relevant degree.

      @@Shorful I’ve watched a few of your other videos where you’ve recommended building a portfolio and relevant work experience to differentiate myself from candidates with degrees. Would you still recommend that route or do you think going the degree route would be best ? Thank you for the insight !

    • @Shorful
      @Shorful 3 місяці тому

      It all depends on your circumstances. If you don't have a degree, then having one to get into data science makes sense, and you could even consider an apprenticeship. If you have a degree, then a Masters in Data Science or related would be a good move. However, there is no guarantee of a job, as it also depends on how you write your CV and perform at interviews. Look at a few job descriptions of roles you'd like to apply for and determine what you are missing and then decide how you get those skills.

    What do you think of meta data analyst certificate on coursera?

    • @Shorful
      @Shorful 3 місяці тому

      I don't have much knowledge about this certificate, however, in general only do a course if you believe it will teach you something you don't know. So go through the topics and if many of them are new to you and also you believe you need to get a job or do your existing job then do it. If it doesn't add anything to your existing knowledge then it's probably not worth doing.

    I have a computer science degree and i also know php,python and sql. Is digital analytics a good fit for my knowledge? I mean i dont want to waste all of my knowledge and just use excel. Can u tell me if i will use any of the above in digital analytics?

    • @Shorful
      @Shorful 4 місяці тому

      Most digital analytics data will be collected by systems like GA or Adobe Analytics, they can be extracted to databases, and GA encourages BigQuery. However, what you need is SQL skills at this stage, knowledge of APIs and connecting to visualization tools like Looker Studio, Tableau or PowerBI. If you want to utilise your Python skills, seek to work in the field of customer analytics, analysing consumption data, like retail, subscribe services and account based businesses, like banks, etc. However, knowing the tools is not enough, you will need to have statistical knowledge.
