It started with just a 4 on the floor but then I thought … well, I can spice things up and just lower the probabilities to make space. And well it kinda worked !

Coming from you, whose sound and touch I admire, especially in dub style, this means a lot ! 🙏🏽☺️ I absolutely love this TR-06, I’ve not been able to compare it to the og 606 but from what I’ve heard it’s very close; and the connectivity is great, as well as the workflow (needs a bit of reading the manual of course) and … the sound is sooo good ! + the comb filter is pretty insane on this thing too ! 🤩

About the breakbeat, I eventually managed to play them (though not in this video) exactly like I would in ableton, via morphagene, after chopping them up in ableton…

Hey thank you very much ! Oh planar is so much fun … it’s ridiculous ! Indeed I chopped them all in ableton, and then used this fantastic website www.lorenzostanco.com/lab/morphagene/ It makes one reel with all files glued together with markers . Ableton doesn’t put markers afaik, but otherwise there is ocenaudio that can do that. But check this site it’s amazing, also allows to easily change options file, and has a list of shortcuts … The guy who did this is active on the make noise Reddit sub, such a cool dude !

Thanks a lot Paul ! Yeah there is a sort of polyrhythmic pattern between the eight steps of 0-ctrl and the random clock looping in Pam’s that makes it weird to grasp (no mentioning the chaotic sounds of course 😅). I got lost in the jam and it’s far too long… but we’ll, you know 😂.

It seems that each sampler needs a different kind of sound format 😅 regarding bitrate, frequency etc... ! i was very surprised by the distingmk4 capabilities : the fact that you can change sample in time with a sort of "legato" way is veeeery handy with drum loops (if they're made the right way ==> the ned rush way is perfect) . Also that morphagene tools website, is amazing, i'll dm it to you if you want. Cheers man (have to catch up on your jams too)

@bertrandvanasch Yeah that's the problem with samples and why, more often than not, I just end up recording straight into my samplers. Worth the effort though!

Then totally deconstruct it by modulating size, slide and organize … but indeed I should share the reels on freesound. (I just forget about it !) cheers 👊🏽🙏🏽

@@yassokiiba thanks man ! You know what it’s the first time I try this ! And it’s very interesting. Have to dig this further, I’m still unsure about the attenuation and offset on cv input but I guess they help setting some lower and upper limits. (Too low probability can end up in silence 😅) And this combined to the re seeding trick (you must have seen this one in their video ?) is a nice way to be generative and keep a bit of cohesion as you pointed out.

yes sludgy indeed, i quite struggled to dial in modulations on the Melotus versio... i love granular for the sake of how it sounds, but in a track or jam format it's pretty challenging to use it without being too much ! Anyway, here, it is clearly too much 😅 but i might explore this a bit further in the future. It took me quite some time to find beads' sweet spots, and it might be the same with MV too. And yeah at the time stamp you mentioned I start modulating harmonics on plaits, and it totally changes the beat, and then I can manually set the level of the lfo via maths, morphing those sounds some more. Well, let's say here things are quite simple, so easier to control 😅, and i wanted to keep the whole thing smooth in a dub style vibe, and not let things go too crazy fx-wise so i was watching this (desmodus versio can go veeeeery wild, as well as the fx section in the TR06) yeah i'm starting to really enjoy making those filtered bass or lead lines, i love that little analog VCO ! Plus i'm totally tunnel visionning on things like FX... can spend so much time tweaking knobs to catch a hold of how the thing works ! (as you do 😂) And still inspired by your way of letting sounds breathe 👊 Tbh, i think here the melody + chords is a bit too repetitive but... anyway, i had fun doing it ! (didn't take a chance to let bloom go random, to avoid being on wrong notes vs the chords...harmony and modular synth is sometimes challenging ! )

@@yassokiiba oh man thank you so much 🙏🏽🙏🏽 . This one took me some time to achieve because I was looking desperately to find a way to modulate the delay time on digitone, and didn’t find it. Instead I ended up modulating almost everything else from ableton which is pretty cool too ! And indeed no mimeophon here, the delay is inside digitone, and on the modular it’s desmodus versio doing the sort of ducked swells of reverb or fast delays. Cheers man 🖤🙏🏽👊🏽

Also one fun trick I discovered is to random modulate math cycle input (like looping the enveloppe) to create ratchets or irregularities in rythm applied to a quite steady beat. Very cool 😉 Edit : I finally found how to modulate every parameter in digitone from ableton … this should be fun !

@@yassokiiba thanks a lot Paul ! Yeah on this jam it’s just one track on digitone mixing an arpegiatted beat with parameter locked sounds. But I’m still exploring this instrument and there are plenty of ways to use it… it’s deep ! And yes for the BIA, it was initially another beat but I eventually decided to cv pitch it and decrease the probability and it became a « sort of bass line » indeed 😂 , or just a mn excuse to use desmodus versio’s crazy tails of reverberating sounds !
