    In 1967 I owned an Ariel Huntmaster 650. It had been a 'paddock bike' and was sans headlight. I was 14 years old at the time and living in Norther Victoria, Australia. The bike developed problems and I could get no help. There were no bike shops, mobile phones or internet back then, so it became a 325cc single for a while, as I learned about mechanics. This was just one of the bikes I owned on along jouney through life. But I was smitted with the bug in England as a 5 yo child, watching the man accross the street start his BSA every morning. It fascinated me! Having owned BSA's, Ariels, Japanes bikes, a TTSE 1200 Munch Mamoth, 100 brick BMW and 900 Darmah Ducati, I now ride a Harley Davidson Softail Heritage Classic 103. But I still have my Ducati 44 years later. At 70 yo I can still manage 700 km a day! I occasionally ride it 300km, one way to Melbourne to spend time with my son and grandson. Love motorcycling, and love an electric guitar ! Bliss ! If I dont have at least one bike and one guitar I am not whole. But I have multiples, so I am blissfully happy! Cheers from Australia.

    It costs almost as much to restore a small motorcycle as a large one. Thing is a bigger motorcycle gets a bigger price than a smaller one.

    That's not a 1973. That's a 1986 to 1990. Yamaha FJ was not available in 1973.

    1965 Tiger 90, Iv'e had loads of Triumph twins including 500's 650's 750's and the bes,t most reliable and oil tight one I had was this model. Absolutely beautiful bike and wish I still had it.

    Hi guys, I'm presuming this has sold now. My dad bought this from a chap who kept on to it for many years and wouldn't sell to him back in 1990. Eventually my dad convinced him to sell. My dad who was 20 at the time loved it and kept it right through to 2017 ISH (if memory serves me right) it was then sold to a RM Motorcycles of Beverley who kept it for several years. I'm now trying to track it down for my dad as he was forced to sell for his business and he misses it dearly. I want to buy it back for myself but also as a bit of a surprise. Even if I can just show him where it is and that it's well. I'd love it you could tell me more about it. It looks as if I saw it yesterday and was riding on the back of it again. Many fond memories of this bike especially when he used to follow me on it after I did my CBT. All the best.

    Surely not an SS head ,the carb vertical mounting studs used on the earlier twins. Do the homework first before misleading comments

    That's my old bike! Amazing what you find on the net. I sold it many years ago to somebody who said they would turn it into a trike. I hoped they wouldn't. And here it is restored and looking amazing. Credit to the restorer. It's changed a lot over the years. Nice job. A rare example with wire spoked wheels. Most of them went with cast wheels. Many happy trouble free miles on this baby. Would be about 30 years ago!

    I’ve ridden both bikes many years ago and without any disrespect to Royal Enfield fans I’m sorry but the Ariel was way but ahead saying that they did produce I think it was the constellation which was rebadged under Indian in the US and used by the Highway Patrol although this bike is nothing like the Enfields produce today

    But your bike is not a 500SS!!!??? The SS had twin carbs and siamese exhaust. It was fast. In the Thruxton 500 race about 61/62, the 500SS came in second overall to the 650SS. Wet race, so Nortons beat the competion into the ground. I had a 60 500 regular.

      It’s true. Look to the ‚bigger‘ Commandos. A friend, Seeley Norton, always prefers the 500ccm engine….. He was racing in the Class of Heroes against Agostini, Read and some others,always shot in front by 500ccm. Domi Motor, very high performed.

    The 88 was a lovely bike. It would run happily at highway speeds with minimal vibration, but was happiest on windy secondary roads. Twin carbs only helped out at WFO and main jet. Below that point they were a nuisance, always demanding synchronization.

    That is the 1955 Huntmaster with the chrome on the tank itself THe 1956 had separate chrome 'panels' which were attached to the tank In thise days there were no ignition keys, what I did to secure the bike when I had to park it anywhere was to swap the plug leads over to the other side sparkplug.

    Sorry to tell you guy`s this is a serveta ,built in spain not a italian lambretta , incorrect forks ,side panels so really a bitza ,missing the correct airbox airfilter ,This would of been a serveta special 125 ,best check the engine numbers and frame

    Nice bike but the paint looks to be flat beige rather than the metallic silver beige. This tended to yellow hence the common description Golden Flash”!

    I love the plunger A10's. Actually learned to ride on its smaller brother, a 1953 A7 500cc plunger model. Magnetos - when bikes didn't need a key and didn't get stolen every five minutes !
