Переглядів 22 тис.12 років тому
Showing how to use Formic Acid as a low cost treatment to combat varroa and tracheal mites in the honeybee.
Hi are you kiwi beekeepers where are you can buy pads?
Oh dear mercy. Wowsie wow wow!
Beautiful
Great job guys!✅😁👍👍🏴☠️
Can we start bee keeping in nuc box
Good day glad to see you added it right cheers
I have been searching everywhere I could think to look trying to find this type information. I am glad that I found it here. Thank you for posting this. I do have a question, can the pads be reused? What size are the pads? I just subscribed. Phillip Hall
Very good video. Does need more specific information on number of successive pad treatments, and also time of year to do it.
Thank, someone said they were doing bulk formic and pads but wouldn't come off any more information 😕
Over smoked at the end there. 🙂
Hi Jeff, I was hesitant to message seeing you're video is from six years ago, but figured what the heck just maybe you'll see this. I'm pretty new to beekeeping, this is my first winter with them. I started with one package last May and had 7 colonies going into winter. I bought a nuc and made 2 splits between that and my package and found a feral hive in a tree that was cut down. Guess you could say I got bit by the beekeeping bug. I have been using OAV to treat and have not had any problems yet, but was wanting to use formic acid also. I can buy a quart or technically 950ml(95%) fairly cheap I just can't find the right way to dilute it to 65%. Would you be able to apply your math formula so I can make it usable please?
Hi Michiwood, I recently did the math on that, I multiplied 32oz by .95 to determine how much formic acid is in the bottle which is about 30 oz formic and 2 oz water and since 65% is close to 66% which is 2/3 then 30 oz makes it easy, half of that is 15oz so the total when finished is 45oz, so add 13 oz of water to the 32oz of 95% formic acid and that will make 45oz of 66% solution, if you want to add another 2oz water to total 47oz will make it very close to 65%( 32 x.95 = very close to 47 x .65)
@@scottdc2105 I would expect that as a general guide, 2 parts 95% formic acid plus 1 part water will work, since the 65% figure is essentially a ballpark goal and not an exact scientific certainty.
when i was in 2nd grade they did this before i moved
Lot of rude people. Wife is helping him and being a part of the hobby. Great to see. They are learning together. They are together. Some of you should have it that good. She is a good woman.
ofcourse pegram teachers are funny their awesome my home school and pegram is my home the teachers are the best and the funniest
This is when a mute button or editing is a great idea.
Agreed
Your way over doing the smoke. Way too much especially at the end.
how much is the % effectiveness? do you successfully fight varroa only with formic acid? Thanks Greets from Greece!
dumb broad does she have teeth
Instead of smoking them, you should have been spraying a little sugar water.
Thanks for sharing.
Awesome!
are you a scared? ;)
Please tell this girl to stfu, damn annoying!!!
clean those frames up and separate them @@@##$.
That is brood not honey you are looking at ##@$. The honey frame does not go in the first box @@#$.
I noticed some posts here were four years ago,I'm sure everyone would like to redo there first video, there's no doubt in my mind he's learned some things the last few years .Good luck on your bee keeping journey.
you don't have to shake them out, I have been told you can just leave the box on top of the hive and the bees will make their way to the queen.
a tripod may have been useful lol. dear mercy. haha.
I loved the commentary! You all were funny!
I don't recommend using smoke with nucs
Thank you lord for the South, quality entertainment. :-P
You should leave the nuc after you receive it, for around 24 hrs, of course it depends on what time of day it was received, and place it next to hive with the entrance in the same direction as the brood box, they need orientation, and that lady, she would drive me frigging insane.
+rowan dairy haha! yep, rowan is right on. Also instead of banging on box just leave box out and the bees will go to box.
She needs to be slapped ....HARD.....not referring to the nuc box!!!
yes
Change it every week for three weeks
Just west of Nashville, Tn.
If the hive with 3 frames of bees has plenty of honey to make it until things start blooming your probably alright. I have combined a small hive with a stronger hive for the winter and then split again in early spring.
men , is not good the movement , first should be open the carton box , bees make the orientation 1 day ,after second day change the box with wood box in same pozition, in this stile , is posibile to loos the queen in grass und is never come back in wood box. soory for the lenguage . i hope too understand me.
You don't need to worry about the bees in the air or the ones left in the box. Wherever the queen goes they will follow.
tks for sharing your video i loved it and loved the commentary and had a good lol sorry about the the jerks below tks. ps i tell all my students not to ask questions i dont know lol
30k of bees? where? i can see max 5k of bees. You have done everything wrong, you should place Nuc in final position of bee hive and live it open for 3 days, aftert that you should replace Nuc with final hive. And this stupid screaming women, but she is right about flying bees.
You lost me at "if I scream like a girl..." Really?
+Anna Dudash I thought that at first, but then, the girl screamed! :)
Camera operator should never talk.
this is one stupid women that was talking lol! Keep the bees and get rid of her
NO NEED TO SMOKE BEES when transferring them. They are already confused enough. PLEASE DO NOT SMOKE BEES if your transferring them from location over 2 miles. They are already confused enough!
Hive tools for a reason!
Well, I didn't notice but am pretty sure he didn't smoke inside the box before he opened it. Next, move one frame at a time. And lastly knock out what you can then leave the box by the entrance. Am guessing but am willing to bet they didn't stick to it.
Love watching people handle bees for their 1st time....
Noobtube
stupidity at its lowest... like everything you said was wrong
