A glimpse into the life of living with chronic illnesses & POTS syndrome
I was traveling around being my usual gypsy self until I was diagnosed with POTS syndrome on June 15th, 2022. POTS stands for postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, which is a form of Dysautonomia. It's actually a common illness but it isn't well known and many states don't have a POTS specialist.
I'm just here to spread awareness and share my journey. Also to show my fellow POTSies that we can make it through the good, the bad, and the ugly together. Here you'll find me showing you how I do daily tasks, daily routines, crafts, hobbies, medical adventures, or simply lying in bed and talking symptoms and helpful tips.

Hey friends! Autumn here, and I'm finally back!
I'm so sorry it's been a while. As I explain, depression can be rude. Right? I still battle daily with mourning. I mourn the person I once was, while trying to live a life she would be proud of. You would think it would be the physical ailments that get me down. NOPE. It's the mental battles that will take me down so quick. I'm currently beginning therapy for all the mental battles we go through. I'll be alright ❤
I don't know why, but I always thrive in Tennessee. Have you found a destination where your #POTS is manageable?
Do you have any recommendations on the things you bring with you while traveling? What helps you the most when you have to go out of town? I'd love to hear it! reach out to any of my socials!

Thanks for all the support since I started this POTS journey. Especially for those who have reached out since I haven't posted in so long. I didn't think anyone would care to know about my life, let alone how I'm doing. It has really pushed me to keep on going. I wouldn't have made it this far without you! I wanted to share my story and my journey so far with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. What made me want to share my story?
I felt so alone. No one in my life really understood what I was going through. No one understood the feelings I had every day. I want to be there for others who have POTS syndrome. I want to show my fellow potsies that there will come a day that you will be able to get up and live again.
I want to show my good, bad, and ugly days of this illness with you to show that some days are better/worse than others. I want to show the world our day to day reality.
I also want to be an advocate for us. I want to raise awareness to our illness and make it KNOWN! Help me show the world our every day struggles and successes.

Hey! I live in Ga and it’s been hard for me to find a doctor that specializes in this area. I am currently waiting for a doctor to open up his schedule next year and I have lost all hope. I stumbled upon Vanderbilt while researching other doctors. I’m glad I was able to find your videos! I wanted to ask how long did it take for them to reach out to you for an appointment? Also how was the experience? Thank you, take care 😊

Hey dear! I go to the Dysautonomia clinic at vanderbilt in Nashville TN. That one, and the mayo clinic in jacksonville FL were whats closest to me. Where are you located if you don't mind me asking?
@@thepotsiemermaid oh ok. Sadly I live in Georgia so that’s kind of far but I guess it’s worth it because the doctors don’t even want to test me for it here. They will just say I need to lose weight or something. Sadly I feel like when they see a plus size person that’s automatically what they go to. But I literally have all the symptoms of pots including the high heartbeat especially when standing or moving

I’ve been feeling alone and like no one understands. My dr must know a little about pots to even suggest it. Just got into a cardiologist and gonna get more testing yay. About to get a shower chair cuz a month or so ago I had a horrible shower experience. I also been following u on tik tok and didn’t know it lol
I understand! And that's wonderful thwt you have a dr who has an idea of what pots is. Thats one step closer to getting the help you deserve. A shower chair is a grest help and a must for me cause I had terrible shower experiences once pots kicked in as well.
How do ppl remember the dates when it started? I’m just like idk a couple yrs ago lol going thru the process to see if I have pots and I’m pretty annoyed with it. I get a heart monitor in a couple weeks and will have it on for 48 hrs and it sounds super uncomfortable lol if I do have pots I’d like to know where the hell it came from. Ughhh thanks for sharing ur story. Im super stressed out from the pots symptoms and ppl acting like I don’t do enough now and I’m a mom so this is hard af 😢 I get presyncope. Don’t pass out yet knock on wood

I just came from TikTok, I have an appointment on Halloween! Is your first appointment when the testing happens, or is it after? We have to drive 3 hours (I can’t drive anymore, I’m in wheelchair) but I really only want to do that trip once if possible. Car rides are rough on me. I’ve had pots all my life though, so I’m hoping I can go into remission :(
Based on my experience and a few others I've chatted with, they do the tests first, then appointment. Originally, I was supposed to test and then see the dr right after. But a week before I went, they called me telling me my original dr wouldn't be in the office that day and that I had to be rescheduled. I told them to please try to fit me in in the same week cause I'm coming from 6 hours away. I got lucky, and they scheduled me with a new dr (the one I mentioned in the cideo) for the day after testing. I have a potise friend who lives an hour away from Nashville and they've stretched her appointments out. She has the testing in October and sees the dr in November. I think it just depends on your situation and where you're from. Definitely dont be afraid to say anything! They are very accommodating!

When I was changed from metoprolol tartrate to metoprolol succinate I had 2 normal days, and then stopped working. Those were two good days.
I hate that the evil POTS gods only allowed you 2. I hope they return soon🫶 I must say pindolol has been a huge help for having good days, or just days where I can get out of bed.
