In this video I will take you through each step to create a 3D model of the part shown in Creo Parametric. I compare two ways to make the same part. First I model each feature as an extrusion. Then, I create the shape all in one feature using the Revolove command. Each sketch is fully dimensioned and constrained before creating the features. If you would like to try the exercise yourself, the d...

Display Mass Properties in Autodesk Inventor
Переглядів 6998 місяців тому
In this video I demonstrate how you can get mass properties, such as volume or mass, to display on screen while working with a part. These steps will work with assembly files, as well. This is a nice alternative to viewing the iProperties as the properties are displayed while you work.

AutoCAD 3D Modeling Tutorial #4: Extrude vs. Revolve
may i ask why mine doesn't follow the length i tried to input
You might have Dynamic Input on. That changes the way coordinates work. Here is a quick video on turning it off: ua-cam.com/video/FqxqRzq75g0/v-deo.html
❤
Thanks for watching!
That's great. Still not so efficient as the mass calculator of Solidworks. But now I can calculate masses quicker for particular parts inside an assembly by suppressing the other ones or copying the ones I want to a new assembly file. It needs to be updated on the BOM feature if you don't want to save the file. Thank you!
I have seen the Solidworks calculator, it is pretty great! Maybe someday in Inventor. Thanks for watching!
excellent video. thanks
Thanks for watching!
Awesome, Thanks.
You bet! Thanks for watching!!
This is really good, but you skipped the Taurus. Are you not planning on designing a building for Apple anytime soon?
LOL I wish!
Hi sir thanks a lot for these videos i wonder if you make Crosby shackle
Do you have an image or drawing you could share?
@@betweencadclasses i highly appreciated your feedback surly Sir how can i share any link or email ?
@@mohamadkhatib8624 you can email me at betweencadclasses@gmail.com
@@betweencadclasses i already sent you en email check plz
i watch every tutorial on this channel, pliss can you create me a how to make shortcut for breakine symbol?
Thank you. from a non cad user, it was very helpful, wish I had found you earlier
Thanks for the kind words!
I'm trying to create an array of studs, but when I set the distance to 16" and set the array distance to 16", it doesn't array the first stud until after I set the point to 32 in. What might be causing that?
I would be happy to take a look at your file, if you would like to share it with me. betweencadclasses@gmail.com
@@betweencadclasses I just changed the offset of the grip and now it looks proper. It might not be the right thing to do but it worked!
@@NavySturmGewehr glad you got it figured out! Thanks for watching!
Hi. Thanks for the video. Can we create script for more complicated tasks, for example, create a layout for each plot frame if we have a 100-200 page. Thank you in advance!
I have honestly never done one that complicated. I would suggest posting on the Autodesk customization forum. There are a ton of amazing people there who can help. forums.autodesk.com/t5/visual-lisp-autolisp-and-general/bd-p/130
Thank you for these tutorials. They are really helpful and allow me to improve my skills. Fun fact... objects don't need to be unified before subtraction.. Just select all objects to subtract from and then all objects to subtract. At least in AutoCAD 2021, the resultant object gets unified automatically. The Shift + Space cycle trick is so helpful
That is interesting. I have never tried it that one, because I have always wanted one solid, so I have always performed the Union first. Thanks for watching!
@@betweencadclasses I randomly discovered that that trick when I forgot to do a union first and did only the subtraction
@@patrickschardt7724 I learn a lot of things by accident LOL
what if i have an irregular oblique shape?
Hi Daphne, the Press/Pull tool might work better in that case. Check out this other video and let me know if it helps or not: ua-cam.com/video/DTODtuf67QE/v-deo.html
Your video was exactly what I needed, thanks!
That is great to hear! Thanks for watching!
Yo I hope you are okay? I don’t know if that email went through but I’ll say it again if not. I already paid a guy to cad the design but I still don’t understand how to do it again in the future. Could you help me understand how? Please and thank you either way.
when you hover over a line or item, it is highlighted. how do you make that happen? I beleive it is preselection highlight, but mine only does it for circles for some odd reason...
Weird that it is only working on circles, so I am not sure if this will work. Open the options dialog (type OPTIONS then press Enter). Select the Selection tab. In the lower-right corner you will find the Preview section. Enable each of the four options there. Let me know if that helps.
thats insane!!🤯 i should really bind some shortcuts myself 🤣
Thanks for watching! I can't work efficiently without my shortcuts now!
Thank you! I am fairly new to 3D printing and found a parametric file for something and needed to know how to get STL files after I updated the parameters. Super fast video, simple to the point. Just what I needed. I didn't need fluff or a long preamble. Just a quick how to.
It it possible to stretch objects with constraint parameters?
I’m having trouble with the file after it’s saved and running on my slicer half of the object is missing in the middle? You know what I did wrong?
Is there any chance that your Fusion360 model was made up of separate bodies?
@@betweencadclasses yes two parts that I used loft to connect them together. Everything looks perfect until I slice it.
In the Browser, expand the Bodies folder. If there is more than one body, you will want to combine them into one before you export. In the Modify panel, select COMBINE, then select each body, then click OK. They should now be combined into one body. Now repeat the steps to export the body to a mesh. Let me know if this works!
Hi hope all is well I have the same problem although on bodies I have only one is combined but cura leaves a part of it out
@@betweencadclasses I tired what you said and it still had the same outcome. I even tried Onshape and the same problem so it’s something I’m doing wrong. I have a stink pipe on the top of a house that’s mostly covered by the soffit from an addition or repair of the roof. I was trying to make an adapter to channel the sink smell out of the soffit and outside like intended. You you think someone on fiver would be able to get the model made? Fusion 360 gives me such a headache 😆
Hello, thanks so much for the video! I got a problem: My delete buttom on my keyboard doesn't work and I don't know how to solve it. So I decided to check the shortcuts, but: The moment it says "Press new shortcut key" and I press the delete button for ERASE, nothing happens and I cannote save the new shortcut. (I freshly installed AutoCAD 2025. My Windows laptop is from 2018. PICKFIRST is already set to 1.) I would appreciate any help, thank you!
I did a little research on the Autodesk forums, and it seems that others have fixed this problem by setting the QAFLAGS variable to 0. Give that a try and let me know if anything changes.
@@betweencadclasses Thank you, no, it didn't work either. It was already set on 0.
@@user-xb6vq9dv9p Bummer. Do you have any other customizations?
@@betweencadclasses It’s a bit annoying indeed. And no, not at all. As I said, I freshly installed AutoCAD and I also reseted everything. But no, won’t work… I’ve never had this problem with my laptop not with other programmes. It’s the first time.
Thx man this helped me out alot

@@betweencadclasses Best regards from Poland. Your films are the best!
@@andrzejpolak1313 thank you so much, that is awesome!!
so this is does not work in 2022 version right?
That is correct. In previous versions you could add additional leaders to an existing leader, but you were not able to add a leader to existing multiline text until the 2023 version. Thanks for watching!
Is that the highest resolution it can export at?
In the Save as Mesh dialog at about :56, I turn on Preview Mesh. Expand the Refinement Options, then you can reduce the Surface Deviation and Normal Deviation to the minimum to get a higher resolution. The other two options (Maximum Edge Length and Aspect Ratio) do not seem to affect the resolution of curved surfaces. Thanks for watching!
really interesting.
Thanks for watching Jessica!

Nice demo sir, thanks for sharing! In my opinion, the Autodesk steps to create a custom ribbon are bit more confusing than say MS Excel, so great to have this example!

can you please make a tutorial how to create a shed (0 degree slope) dormer window in mansard roof?
Would you want the dormer to cut through both roof slopes?
@@betweencadclasses No. The dormer window (with flat roof) should pop from the mansard roof slope.
You can use the slice command to remove that bottom portion of the angled geometry
thanks for the tip, it helped me a lot I have another question, namely whether it is possible for PDF and DWG files to be updated directly after editing, for example in an order folder
Wonderful
Thanks for watching!
Great block if you know the array distance. How about if the array distance is variable? To be more explicit: once if have a 9 foot distance, the next time I may need 12 foot distance, and so on. Can the distance parameter be linked to a formula the block will pop up?
Hmmmm that is a good question. I can't say I have ever done that before. I will toy around with it and let you know if I figure something out.
@@betweencadclassesI have the same problem: it's impossible to set a variabile distance of the array Have you found anything about this problem?
@@alessandrostocco1733 Unfortunately, no. I wonder if it can be done via programming such as AutoLISP. Unfortunately learning that is still on my to-do list. Sorry I couldn't be more help!

Thanks for the video, I somehow remember trying to use parts, I do residential work similar to this video, but I remember finding some issues, I cant remember it was a while ago. Do you think its a good practice to use parts in the your model typically?
I have to be honest. As an educator I don't get to dig into big projects like those of you in the industry, so I cannot say for certain what the pitfalls might be. One of the things that are weird is that when you split a floor into parts, it no longer shows in the floor plan view, even if the view is set to parts. You have to adjust the view range slightly which is a bit of a hassle. Another thing my students struggle with is remembering to set each view to show parts. Some will create the parts in the floor plan, then create a 3D view and are puzzled why they cannot see the materials until I remind them to change their view settings to show parts.
Hi, do you know i can use the data inside a call to dynamically update text inside a Mleader?
These tutorials deserve way more likes and appreciation! Wish you all the best and thank you for providing this to the community.
Aw thanks Emil!!
Hello Sir, I want to ask about this, how to give or set tolerance in Analyzing Interference? Thank You Very Much
Great question. The tolerance is driven by the overall document tolerance. Go to Tools > Document Settings. Select the Units tab. Adjust the Linear Dim Display Precision value, and your interference value will follow this precision. Thanks for watching!
Decent example. Pl. Add example for Undirected angle also. Thanks
Hi i am having a problem where an error pops up as i try to save it. Error writing acad.cuix
I wish I had a good answer for that. My best guess is that the drive is write protected, so you are being prevented from saving at that location.
