nothing has worked i just force shut steam when i am using the mouse for now. and also i noticed wired mouse is fine it only my wireless mouse that is affected@@DuctTapedGoat

i dont know your whole setup but one thing thats always worth considering is - do you have an extra mouse under a cushion somewhere or backup keyboard accidentally on in a drawer? its a critical thing to consider if wired is OK! even the trackpad on a laptop can interfere with wired, and beyond that really "anything" wireless could cause interference! checking the usb aerial/dongle/receiver software could show any additional devices using it, esp. bluetooth, etc.

(tldr: cool that power supply! 😉) Heya! I am actually prepping to fix some Fat PS3 units with same issues as this Slim had. The knobs alone were not enough - it took reflow and new paste to get it to start staying on at all, then to get any hours of gameplay like 8+ hours without canceling dead midgame, the knobs needed adjustments, and then we could get 80+ hours. If it's offing itself quickly like immediate then it's board issue likely, but if it's offing quickly like 8 minutes, then the power supply components need fans/cooling, I had to remove the power cover and the entire lid before adding fans! :) It's an old vid but I am still active on this! :D

Really there are issues under windows 10 also, it works briefly on win10 then errors purple and green colors.

@@DuctTapedGoat I've been using the camera on windows 10 with success, but can't get it to work on windows 11, the video is black, even that red led is working (which indicates that camera is being used). If you would ever try to make it work on windows 11, please answer to this comment with instructions 🙏

If the part of the driver got signed in to code that now exists in the backbone of windows, isolating the redundant library would be where my guess is. Maybe it receives 2 requests for power? One from the system32/syswow64 libraries and another from the win7 driver delivering a now unnecessary second command and the power is too extra? That's where I am at with it as I think - because the errors I get with my CPU on win10 seem to be overheating super quickly in seconds displaying purple blueish colors then solidblack, only fixed by reset.

Oh - hold shift and click restart on the start menu to open the recovery page when it reboots - select Startup Settings and disable driver signature enforcement, this may be the solution you were looking for

Oh no ! Code 10 if I remember was a common code - try uninstalling it, reboot the computer, connect it, uninstall again, reboot again, then try the installation method again. Try different usb ports - check usb power settings, check any open webcam softwares(close them), I could come up with a few processes to determine what is preventing it from working.

Well to really explain what you are doing would require a thermal image of the ps3 boards under symptoms and force calculations for the heat of solder and resistance drops... But i bet your PS3 Big Fan is dying, physical strikes work for moving parts but can damage working moving parts affected as a byproduct of a strike - such as the BDROM. Fans are cheap, might just need a cleaning.

I did clean the fan but when I bought the PS it was only cutting off and coming on so I had to remove the power cord to put it back on I only hit it once and from then it working as a brand new PS3

In the "PS3 Big Fan" case, brown is 12v hot, black is ground and grey is PWM. I guess it depends on the product. I deal with a lot of computers, and in a computer based system yellow is 12v hot, red is 5v hot, black is ground. Most DC products like fans on 12v circuits are black ground and red hot. Many products require a DC converter, which has a wiring diagram more based on common sense of logic than the AC "standard". I've always understood DC ground circuits fluently, and not understood the neutral AC circuits without overly complex diagrams, considering all the times I get a fan that has grey and blue wires, or two white wires with black stripes. If its black and red - and red is ground, I would really consider who made the product and if it is worth connecting it to the larger system...

I haven't done a side-by-side to desktop, however there is an article quoting the bandwidth speeds, and how much reduction there is. I think it read there is twice as much reduction on our era laptops (540/541) compared to other laptops with thunder2. I game and edit, so most notable is that my gaming FPS roughly doubled, and rendering videos is at least 5 times faster. Runs way smoothly - I am wanting to pipe in a gfx cable through the WLAN and try the EXP GDC with my 1050ti mini without the thunder limitation, but I like how safe it is in the Akitio box. I went with the Akitio for mostly this reason - I can still experiment with the other eGPU\pcie devices, but in the meantime the card is safe in the Akitio box. The reason I went with Zotac, mini, 1050ti, da-2, and Akitio is the power requirements. The 1050ti card should never request more power than the Akitio chip can provide, and mini simply does fit (tho I had to remove one of the monitor cable screws). So, even tho there is a performance loss compared to desktop, there is still a massive increase from stock gfx - majority is this, an eGPU prevents the bridges from overheating in the laptop by having the heavy video rendered in a Box outside of the laptop, so temperatures dropped in my system about 15 deg F!

Interesting how cost effective an eGPU setup can be especially if one has access to cheap parts. Even though the w541 is advertised at TB2, it functions at TB1 speed (still a nice increase vs expresscard). I see why you wisely chose the 1050ti for Akitio. However Have you used it with the GDC yet? 10 series cards dont play nicely with the GDC beast and Pe4C generally but some have worked around it. On expresscard eGPU driven by Ivy bridge quad core (T530) and rx480 I noticed some frame dips during limited testing. Guessing the narrow 4gbps lane is the bottleneck. Will test GDC beast on newly aqcuired W540 tomorrw to see if Haswell CPU offers any benefit (im guessing not much). If that doesnt satisfy, the Akitio would have to come next when I find a cheap auction. That is encouraging what you say about CPU temps dropping due to external rendering... Very good to hear considering the Thermal issues the w540 can have when rendering internally. @@DuctTapedGoat

I heard about the tb1 speed issue - its not actually as slow as tb1, there are simply 2 simultaneous tb1 lanes, which is a cruder early version of tb2. It's kinda weird looking at the benchmarking, but under AIDA64/HWINFO64 I was able to read BOTH lanes operating tb1 speeds, even though it looks like the same lane from 2 different sensors perspective, it is moving data at near double tb1 speeds. I think I was getting something around 8 per lane, which ends up being 16 contrasted to the generic tb1 max speed of 10. I have a GDC, but I don't have any connectors. My intention is to go with the PCIE mini connector, as it is is physically the most reliable and provides the highest speeds (my tb2 port is exhibiting signs it needs resoldering and my wifi card was DOA, so thats the best eGPU injection point). ExpressCard is just too slow, heck its not even enough power to translate a true USB3 device so I haven't pursued the gains there, but still should provide increases compared to internal gpu bridges. The mini PCIE cable is the highest quality fastest speed achievable with our w series lenovos, so thats going to be the goal when I begin GDC testing.. Temperature management is way important - I run a fanspeed control software with a customized settings file which sets the Lenovo w series CPU fan to 4000rpm at windows startup, and an OPOLAR external CPU sucker/blower fan on top of a generic laptop cooling fan mat. Considering the CPU and GPU cool with the same fan, thats the fastest way to reduce cooling loads without restricting CPU performance. Oh and by the way - w series 2.8ghz quadcore Lenovo is actually a 3.2ghz CPU rather than a 2.8ghz CPU as advertised. There's softwares to activate all the cores all the time which causes the cores to operate at 3.2, which is an extra 1.2ghz of real power and in hyperthreading another 1.2ghz for a total of 2.4 additional ghz without overclocking, which practically adds up to an additional core. When i am at my desk tomorrow i will drop some links to the INI fan speed file for w series and official freeware install link, as well as the core activation software - all I have found to be w series compatible.

A lot of the numbers out there have differing opinions - general sources say express is 4gbps pcie1x, mpcie/m.2 is 8gbps pcie2x and tb2 is 16gbps pcie4x, but the w series it may be 4/6/10 according to the limited data I have read. I am wanting to get the numbers on all three combinations myself, because of all the differing information I have found, tb2 may not be the most efficient use, certainly it is the weakest connection of wires and the more unstable power circuit especially compared to the m2 or mpcie, and the simple fact that GDC is different tech than Akitio, it will be a great test series.

Sure - have you read the description for the video too, there are additional things to consider such as is a reflow necessary and is there possibly damage to the mini control board buttons or ribbon cable?
