How do you get the harmonic balancer off with engine still in the truck tried un loosening the center bolt and it turned the on me so now my timing is all f'd up created another problem for someone who is not mechanically inclined but wasn't going to spend around 2000 for them to replace timing cover gasket 96 f150 5.8l help please

The 289 was a Golden Ford Motor like No other as I had Multi 271 horse 289s and tryin to find one today Goodluck and if you do the price is off the wall The other Major fact is Only Motocraft oil filters to prevent dry start As Ford is the Only one that puts a check valve in there oil filters to prevent dry start up You don't have to believe me just cut one apart and it speaks for itself Quick and Hope its helpful to others

It's hard to find videos about ford 302 engines on here.. am thinking about replacing my timing cover gasket on my 95 f150 302 it's leaking coolant/water on the right side🤦‍♂️ getting very tired of leaks on this dang truck .... But thanks for this video helps alot better than a Hayes or Chilton's book... ! Oh P.S can u tell me or make a video explaining about replacing a head gasket? I need help on that?

im about to do this on my 289, i thought the oil pan needed to be dropped.

Good video. I need to change timing cover and harmonic balancer and wasn't sure if it could be done, while the engine is in the truck. Did you remove the radiator or just the fan and shroud?

Thanks bro for the vid very well done 👍🏻 I did watch others and learned a lot from all.. I’m in middle of tare down now all going well so far. Learned how to crack the crank bolt by hand... long pry bar and jump the starter and it does the trick.

That gasket looks brand new. Was it leaking or something? Did you muff the job up?

When scraping the gasket off the front of the block....do not let the pieces fall into the oil pan....they will plug up the oil pump screen and cause a big problem

Just wondering what year the motor is, my son in law bought a 1971 302 from a Maverick. but it was the block and heads only. We need to get a cam eccentric, i was looking on summit and they have 2 piece and one piece. Just wondering what i need to get. It will be carbureted.
