It is one of the best video I have seen on Leica M10 on you tube. Thank you. I am passionate about learning photography. I have xpro2, I love range finders but xpro2 has all Apparture shutter and ISO auto and auto focusing. Do you suggest if I can buy Leica M10. Is it a good camera to learn photography if someone can affort it? I am scared if I would not able to take good pictures from Leica specifically of my kids running around or moving object on street photography.

This was very helpful. I tested this out the other day and I’m waiting for my film to return at the moment. I live in Louisiana but it was an overcast day. So I kept the Aperture at f5.6 but I kept getting confused by the shutter speed but for the most part I think I did it correctly. Now is there a method with shooting at night or indoors with no light meter or flash?

Have come back to this three times. 10/10 quality video. This is extremely valuable for someone trying to learn!!

50mm is the best focal for me ... u have good compresion u dont have extremely weird look of ur photos and is versatile... portraints street reportage and even some of details(if u have lens with close focusing distance) ur photos are awesome !!!

If Leica knew what's what, they'd remanufacture the parts needed to fix light meters etc in ALL their prior metered models. People are obviously more than willing to pay for servicing. And a BIG reason for buying into Leica is the camera-for-life ethos. It would do Leica's reputation for service & reliability the world of good. Leica basically has the film rangefinder market cornered so it should comprehensively service all of their film cameras regardless of age and/or function. Film shooters are waiting for this. And before the naysayers start in with the usual excuses about money/sourcing materials etc., let me point out that relatively small startups are manufacturing and selling 3D printed light meters (and they work!) so if complete newcomers can do it.... History doesn't remember the companies that said they COULDN'T do X, Y or Z; it's the companies that figured out how to fulfill a demand that we celebrate today.

Another oldie getting back into analogue photography. Had a disappointing set of negs from a recent trip out. Wish I had seen this sooner. Will go out and try again. Thanks for an informative video.

11:45 try taking it in a busy station like the HongQiao high speed rail station during national holidays. With a slow shutter it would seem like ten thousand people are waiting on ten thousand people, while 50 thousand people are on their way to look for another 50 thousand people.

Dude why don’t you share the shutter speed, apature and iso in each pic? It helps us amateurs. You have already told us that it’s in 50mm so showing that doesn’t really teach us anything… thanks!

So for example, if I use Kodak Gold 200, I would expose one stop more to begin with, so 1/100. When I want to use f/2 instead of f/16, I expose 1/6400 instead of 1/100... (6 stops of light more than f/16)

Thank you for explaining the reciprocity of the three different factors. But we can't see the aperture settings at the end of the video, because you blended in thumbnails of other videos, could you please position them elsewhere?

I usually use a 35mm lens but I am very curious to play with a 50mm. Love that you're talking through your process and showing us the pics your didn't think worked. I also liked the GC shot and the man in the hat as well.

Hey man! Loved the video, you're amazing. I have a question: If I want to overexpose my film, should I also change my Shutter Speed? For example: - Film: 200 - ISO: 100 - Shutter Speed: Still 200/250 or should I also put it on 1/100th of a second? Thank you so much!

In Leica M…A - is for aperture ,,,not for automatic

Good video. With the Leica M11P , 60 MP when I shoot with my Summilux 50mm f1,4 , i must shoot at minimum 1/250 secs. And I have to be very stable at this shutter speed. The ideal without risk is 500 to 750 . The more pixels you got , the more risk to have motion blur in your images.

Getting back to B&W film photography with vintage cameras after 50 years. This was extremely helpful and I can't wait to go out and try Sunny 16 formula. I want to shoot manually and stop relying on automation. Makes it more challenging and interesting. Wish the film was the same cost as the 70's though.

Congrats for this video and your channel! What about if I'm in full manual mode (I choose my ISO, shutter speed and aperture)? I guess it doesn't matter which light metering mode you choose (spot, evaluative etc...). Am I right? I've done some tests, and the metering mode makes no difference when I'm in full manual.Could you confirm (or not...) please ? Regards.

Two "rules" to live and die for when photographing people in their natural habitats. 'If your pictures aren't any good, you're not close enough.' And, 'If your pictures aren't emotionally engaging, they're not memorable.' There are many meaningful ways to practice - and break - these rules. But until you're a great photographer, practice them.

I’m just getting started into black and white street photography and I use either a 50mm or 85mm.

Love this format. I like seeing the misses as much as the good shots. I think you really had something at the escalator where we could see the street, the escalator and your reflection. There IS something to be pulled from that lication. First time seeing your video, liked, subbed and commented.

Another trick in my bag to meter with the Sunny 16 rule is to look at the shadows on the streets or walls: - dark shadows with hard edges: f/16 - dark shadows with soft edges: f/11 - pale shadows: f/8 (cloudy) - subtle visible shadows: f/5.6 And so on...
