I went out for the Larimore Vets Club Ice Fishing Derby at the Larimore Dam with Brian and Bubba again this year. I was fortunate enough to have my brother from another mother John join me this year and we had a great time. New toys helped me get on fish and we actually brought some in to be measured this year!

I use roast from the bear I harvested in PA this year, add 3 packs of Good Seasons Italian dressing mix and half a jar of Pepperocinis with the juice. Put it all in a crockpot on low for 8 hours, shredded the meat in the crockpot and put it on steak rolls with a slice of provolone cheese. It was delicious! I’ve used this recipe with venison as well and it is always good!

Here comes part 2! It’s been 10 years since I came to PA and was lucky enough to harvest a beautiful black bear and nice 10 point buck. I finally made it back and there was no shortage of deer, the PA legal bucks with a minimum of 3 points on 1 side were too smart for me but I still had a little PA luck left.

This is the first two weekends and the week of the 2024 MN Deer Firearms season. I started up north by Itasca and ended down by Alexandria. Didn’t get a deer but had a great time and made many memories!

Part 2 has the same arrow that took down the doe the night before flying at a Pope and Crockett Buck! Will the arrow fly true? Will I fill the last of my MN Archery tags? Will the Arrow live to fly another day? Watch to find out! I do say one bad word here sorry.

I’ve done a terrible job this year, not posting anything until now. I’ve seen deer, Katie got her first Archery deer and I’ve hunted every weekend of October but finally post the first weekend of November. I was able to fill my bonus antlerless tag with a great doe and got the shot on film. I’m working on part 2 and it is very exciting as well!

The dog is laughing, we came home empty handed. It may have been a different story if we had a dog. Maybe we could have taken a bird to Eric at Tom’s Beaks & Bills Taxidermy. I took Mikael and Annalysse to Stump Lake in North Dakota to try out the boat. Fishing was slow but one of us got stuck with a little luck….

I went to the farm to call and film for John on the last weekend of the 2024 MN spring turkey season. We didn’t get much time to scout but knew the location where they have been. It took us a couple days but he came in on a string my last morning here!
