I LOVE the movie!! It's one of my favorites.
18:55 The point is that living your life loving someone is better than throwing your life away working for the government/military/ "Triad"-creepy-tape-project.
11:48 You're missing the point again. He disconnects the somatic stimuli circuit in order not to have the heart attack and enjoy the dying experience without undergoing it. While in the other room the test man gets it all, including the heart attack that probably klls him
8:01 No, she's not having a cry out. She's having Angina Pectoris and ingests a Nitro pill to ease the pain.
they killed her
Dances with wolves was unbelievably good!
Totally! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for your excellent review. Jerry Goldsmith provided Hyams with the two best soundtracks, for his two best films. Goldsmith is obviously a genius, I have always felt Hyams and underrated director, his films are always well shot, edited, and underscored. I love this movie, the pairing of Connery and Goldsmith is a win, win, outcome for me.
It's really a shame how this movie is such a mess, because I do like the charm of that 80s sci-fi aesthetic and there is an actual deep theme down there. Something that Woods death and studio shutting it down made sure would not be told and Trumbull ragequitting Hollywood.
Kevin Costner has to be the worst actor to have ever made it to become a major film star. Not heard many good things said about him either.
"Have you seen Gordy?" "No..." "He's dead." "Well, I guess that explains why I haven't seen him..." Yeah, this movie used to be on heavy rotation during the earliest days of HBO. My friends and I would watch it all the time.
Isn't this the movie where someone unconscious leaps from a bed? I saw that seen when I was a little kid. While watching this video I thought for sure their son was going to be the one that leaped out of bed at his father. Does anyone know what I am talking about?
Are you maybe thinking of Pet Sematary with the scary bed-ridden sister?
It's unfortunate that the location of their offices at RTP North Carolina was torn down 2021 by a pharmaceutical company that bought it, promising to keep it and renovate it. Iconic architecture lost forever.
I cannot begin to explain the effect this movie had on my life. I seen it when I was ten years old and it opened me up to some deep philosophical stuff. I keep a copy of this movie to this day.
I can remember when i used to game on a small box TV like the one in the intro, even with inferior hardware the game's were much better than the crap we get nowadays. I think I've seen around five movies in the past decade that i liked, movies nowadays are absolutely terrible, the woke has broke everything.
The intro was alot like what I used to have when I was younger. Yeah, in the last decade most movies are either remakes, reboots, prequels, sequels or stories "based on true events." Hollywood just recycles their ideas. Thanks for watching!
This is a overlooked gem if you ask me.
i agree.
Funny but detailed review for what I think is a underated movie!
In regards to the reaction of the "workmates" that's pretty ship shape BLUE COLLAR.
Arnie would have been cool, but it was through Fortress that I learned about Highlander so I'm glad we got Chris as the lead! Great video
Good review. Wish it was longer though. Look forward to seeing more reviews
Thanks for watching means alot! Hopefully they'll be more to come!
my favourite christophe movie 👍
Mines always been Highlander! Thanks for watching.
Always been a fan of this movie, can't even imagine it with Arnold now, but damn how cool would that be to see!
Maybe in another dimention we got Tom Selleck whip cracking as Indy, Al Pacino as Han Solo, Meryl Streep fighting aliens as Ripley and Arnie breaking out of a Fortress as John Brennick.
RIP Natalie and Louise!
Loved the fun style of this video! Brainstorm just blew me away when it came out, and I've told several people about it over the years. That it's about amazing tech that interfaces with the brain and records thoughts and memories, making YOU your own "filmmaker" is something that sounds scarily possible, and closer every day. We all recently saw a paraplegic man stand up and walk, with the help of a helmet-device that allowed his brain's neural paths back into sync with his spinal cord. Thank God! If that isn't a sci-fi movie come to life, I don't know what is! Of course, for all the good that will come, some among us will use the tech for dark purposes. In the film, we see psychotic-episode tapes, meaning I guess that someone strapped a helmet onto a very disturbed mental patient and pressed Record:-( The military had a library full of nasty shyte, no doubt to be used for covert torture missions etc. The porn industry will make a killing once they get hold of this; screw social media after that. In fact, screw relationships, love, marriage....just plug yourself in and hang on! And then Fletcher goes and creates the ultimate science experiment, by recording her own demise and the seconds after. I certainly understand Walken moving heaven and earth to see THAT tape! Love this movie:)
I remember watching this at the theater in my junior year of high school 😄
FUNNY DOCUMENTARY...
...EXCEPT LAST 10 MINUTES...
I just saw this movie for the first time a few months ago surprised to see how many issues it had. Had no clue!
I liked waterworld ...and am a proud owner of a dvd of it too
I'm gonna say it, I love waterworld
It’s aged well! Thanks for watching!
Glad you're back! Been years since I watched this movie, but was great to hear some BTS stuff! Thanks
Great video!! 👍 I remember watching this at the cinema in 95 and it had been absolutely panned. I actually enjoyed it. Mind I haven't watched it since, but looks like it holds up.
have this on dvd, complete flop at the box office but i really like this film.
One question. At 9:20 , when we (along with Natalie Wood's character) start to view the 'memory' montage that Christopher Walken's character has put together for her, whose memory (point of view) was that? It certainly wasn't Walken's.
That’s a good point! It could only have been Walkens since he recorded it, but it is confusing given he’s in the montage! We see things like that a few times, when he’s watching some of Dr Reynolds memories she is in the shot too. Also I’ve no idea what ‘memory’ his son was having.. as all of that was false. Perhaps the headset provides part of the memory and your mind fills in some of blanks. 🤷🏻♂️ Thanks for watching!
@@WolfsterMedia Yeah, I was going to say that the OP was wrong but he's got good points. If it were from Walken's point of view, we wouldn't see him and Natalie doing something together from a 3rd person's viewpoint. I guess you just have to assume that it somehow captured his impression of events as he thinks it would look from the outside (????). It's true that you see this with Dr. Reynolds and it's hard to explain. When she dies, she looks back and sees her own body as her soul leaves it, OK, I can buy that. But then there's memories again that are like they're viewed from a 3rd person.
The initial test on recording with "The Hat" was done on her without her knowing what they were doing. He did something to triggers those memories inadvertently just before "Recording". When he put "The Hat" on and played it back, he experienced all those quick memories and feelings and actually acted on them for a sec. Which gave him the idea to make a montage of his memories. This is actually one of the best movies you'll ever see in life.
Good stuff, saw this on tv back in the late 80’s, even then I did think it would be possible one day to do this sort of thing for real. Zuckerberg will certainly give it a shot. Michael Crichton’s ‘Looker’ was a movie with a different plot but similar sort of tech-gone awry tone. ……. Also, “All hail the HypnoToad”
You’re absolutely right. Rewatching this I could see how far we’ve come technologically since the 80s. I’m not familiar with ‘Looker’ I’ll check it out! Thanks for watching.
@@WolfsterMedia Thanks for your content, it was interesting and enjoyable.
In the mid-80s this movie was on HBO a lot, I taped it and re-watched it a lot. I don't understand why this movie didn't get more acclaim, it's 57% on Rotten Tomatoes and 6.4/10 on IMDB. I clearly like it more than the average person, whatever.
Another great video! Keep up the good work 👏
Outland finally got a well-deserved Blu-ray release about a decade ago. It's definitely worth a purchase if you're a sci-fi fan or a Sean Connery fan.
Funny review! A solid underrated rated movie, I remember sneaking into the cinema back in 81, wasn't old enough but didnt care, was blown away. lol
Thanks for dropping by! Glad you enjoyed the video.
Fantastic insight and some great factoids here! Can't wait to see what else you review :)
