This Home Assistant Dashboard BLEW MY MIND!
You guys have asked, and I’ve delivered! In this video I’ll go over my current mobile Home Assistant dashboard setup, and show you how to get my dashboard working on your Home Assistant instance. We’ll move a little faster than usual through this one since I’ve covered this procedure before, but it _hopefully_ shouldn’t be too bad.
Shoutout to LE0N on the Home Assistant Community forum for providing the basis for this dashboard. I went through countless different dashboard designs before settling on his and think I’ll be sticking with it for quite a while. The layout is very similar to his, and I reused several of his button card templates.
Questions? Let me know in the comments, and I'll be happy to help you out.

Getting Started With Home Assistant In 2024: The Ultimate Guide
Переглядів 149 тис.9 місяців тому
In this video I'll take you through the process of setting Home Assistant up on a Raspberry Pi. I’ll also cover the basics when it comes to automations, integrations and dashboards, *and* go over my must-have add-ons. Trust me, it’s not as hard as you think it is. Was trying real hard not to crack 20 minutes on this one but there was simply too much to cover and I wasn't able to fit it all into...

The highly requested wall tablet setup guide is finally here! In this video I'll take you through my current wall-mounted tablet setup, and how to _hopefully_ get the dashboard working on your home assistant instance. Also, shoutout to @mattper on UA-cam and GitHub for heavily inspiring the layout for the dashboard. You can find him here: github.com/matt8707/hass-config. And while you're at it,...
AI has gone too far...

In this video I discuss AI, and the many concerns surrounding it. Let's just say there's quite a few of them...and rightfully so, as you'll see in this video. Smart Bedroom Tour 2024: I've Automated EVERYTHING!
Переглядів 33 тис.11 місяців тому
In this video I take you through all the bedroom automations that I use on a daily basis! It's taken quite a while to get all this set up and I have to say I'm pretty proud of how it's all turned out. All this is powered by Home Assistant, which is by far the best home automation platform I've ever used. Definitely recommend it. If you'd like to see a more in-depth how to guide for any of the a...
Thanks for the walkthrough, finally starting to kinda get it instead of being amazed by shiny gadgets.
Great video for beginners, was looking for something to refer to a potential new user and your video was the one. I have only one suggestion. In samba share do not put you external IP address in the allowed hosts as it will make it vulnerable to external attacks. If you want to allow all devices in your network you can use CIDR notation. For most home networks that usually have an address like 192.168.0.1 can have their entire space represented by 192.168.0.1/24 This means all. IPs from 192.168.0.1 - 192.168.0.255
I have read that zigbee or similar hardware is necessary. Is this neccessary?
That is a really nice dashboard that you have built. Very impressive! However, I feel like I should point out that the outlet you showed, in your closet, is not a safe setup. You shouldn't have multiple multi plugs, extenders, smart plugs, or any combination of them plugged into each other. Also, it looked like you had taped around your cord or cords and that is another thing that is not safe.
i can't acess the page of home assistance
Thumbnails with a prominent face and open mouth probably bring more views, but man do they look stupid. I clicked because of the title BTW. Great guide though!
I followed your all your steps, but I get an error: Custom Element doesn't exist: Grid Layout. Am I missing an addon or something? It prevenst me from clicking the edit buttons.
Hi man, Got it all working thanks for this dope dashboard!, but for some reason the Homepod icon doesnt work on my iPhone Home Assistant app, you know what I could do?
Amigo Usted sera buen explicando como funcionan los parametros y lo demas sobre ese Tablet pero de instalacion de cables usted es un verdadero desastre. Para la proxima vez llame a un electricista por lo menos
Do you need a zigbee adapter or anything extra?
Any time you see home assistant doing something dumb, just assume it's because they are probably not American and only believe in metricated units. Tight up there with them using commas and periods wrong in numbers. Eg: 1.000,99 instead of 1,000.99
found your video looking for a guide on how to set up a energy gauge. I got HA setup, zwave plugs, switches and couple ESPhome devices, I got to the point I can add switches to my dash to turn lights on/off but I am lost on how to do a energy gauge , got a energy monitor plug connected to my 3d printer and would like to see how many kwh it use and a button to reset it or maybe do a daily/monthly gauge/graph. The other challenge I have is , I got 3 esphome relays, I was able to set one trigger to turn them all on, but have to have to have a separate trigger to turn them off, is there a way to make it one switch and toggle the 3 relays? maybe you can make some short videos on how to do them, small bites , I found other videos overwhelming and too fast to follow.
Hi, if you could do a video or something showing all the code work/automations/scripts in how to set up your alarm system, I would be very grateful as this is something I am looking to add for a single room that doesn't need a full house security system.
Love this dashboard, but how do you get a sensor to do the since last sheets change button?
Create a counter helper in settings. Find an automation in your setup that runs once daily (or create one if you don’t have one) and tack an increment counter action to the bottom of it. This way, your counter will increase by one for every day that passes until you reset it.
Hi, which outlet do you use for your Smartwatch?
Home Assistant on a Raspberry Pi is a good way to destroy an SD card quickly. I gave up trying to understand documentation poorly translated into English. When the Home Assistant community gets their shit together and learns how to write proper software documentation, maybe I'll consider using it, but I'll be installing it on a virtual machine.
Once I saw you were doing this on mac, I was out. Just why?
Best HA video.
Usb c poe data and power , That'd do for my needs
I have set this up, and I am very impressed with how it has turned out. I even modified the sidebar to indicate when the washing machine is finished, and when the button is pressed, it hides again. 👌 Thank you for sharing Jimmy!
which door sensor do you use?
Love your videos man! When will you post new videos?
change ur sheets
I rarely "like videos." This one is getting a like from me because of the fantastic manners. Bleeping out "Alexa" so my Alexa doesn't go off is very much appreciated. Thank you, kind sir.
Hey, whats your usb flash drive? I really want best for my server
Sooo, I should be able to create an automation such as "if <day is Sunday> AND <my phone is in the area>" (i.e. if I arrive from the weekend and my phone connects to the wifi), WOL my desktop, correct? I was thinking of doing this based on bluetooth (if you recall blueproximity...), but that would be a bit finicky to debug. Or (especially if I add ESP32 with ESP Home) when <I arrive> do < turn on the light (LED strip hooked to a relay or something that easy),> right? Or when <sun rises> do <start downloading webcam images> and when <sun sets> stop downloading (no point in downloading darkness)>, right? Neat! I assume some slight scripting may be needed to send the magic packet, but the "phone in the area" has already been tested by sending myself a notification. Interestingly, I was trying HAOS before but found no use as I do not own smart bulbs or crap like that and my place is so small it is often easier to stretch my hand for the lamp than clap. But today I found out the ESPHome and having a bunch of Pis and arduinos around, things just snapped together.
I've been using HA for several years. I use it, along with ESPHome, to monitor my solar my solar/battery system. I'd skip using the Pi3 or Pi4 if a person might have thoughts of using some of the best features of HA. The compiling times on the Pi3, the Pi4, and the "Home Assistant Green" are painfully slow. If possible, buy a mini PC. A cheap Beelink, or something similar, kicks ass! They're much faster, and won't take 6 to 10 minutes to compile code in ESPHome.
hello. I followed the steps but I get the error custom element doesn't exist grid-layout
wish that wallmount was available. it is on etsy, but costs a fortune.
Why use a Fire Tablet and not an Android Tablet since Fire Tablet won't do half as much as an Android or Google device?
Because you can get them on black friday for cheap and they will be functional?
"over my head"... lol feel you bro. Yeah im that geek, but i have other projects that require that sort of brain power. Maybe ill just do a HA green
Great video! Thank you, how do you show the dashboard on the tablet without the Home Assistant Sidebar and the Edit options in ha fusion? I'm guessing it has something to do with the URL What I am using is something like this: homeassistant.local:8123/65f60000_ha_fusion/ingress
Never mind, I just found out, I can add a custom port in the Add-on configuration for Fusion and then go to that port like this: homeassistant.local:5055 (my port was 5055 for example)
Amazing dashboard :) imma sub
The benefits of centralizing the configs with a separate Google node, compared with just using the few proprietary phone-based apps for the various IOT devices isn't obvious to me. My t-stat, tablets, smart plugs / bulbs, smart dorrbell, cameras, etc. all have their own apps, and I interact with them individually as needed--this seems fine. I don't need to bring Google into the mix.
I couldn't handle all of the video with just your hands waving around. What was the purpose?
How did you hide the sidebar and settings?
With browser mod
I downloaded raspberry pi imager but can not find the file!
Home Assistant ... Keep 24 hours time-format !!! Or a button/option to switch from 24 hours to 12 hours if nedded !!! ;-)
You done really well up to 12:52, then wow, what a jump. I'll input my issue as an example for anyone as baffled as I. Can you give a tutorial/solution to all those attempting to migrate to HA that have already got some sort of smart home already up and running. In my case I have 15 x Tasmota devices, 9 are the basic light switch that have been running via node-red & mqtt ( mosquitto ) for 6+ years running 24/7 perfectly. I was told HA was THE answer to controlling just about any device out there. Well here I am 3 years on with many different attempts at HA on various h/w from rPi to N100 mini PC's, trying to get it to find/discover just one of those perfectly working Tasmota devices on my network, with or without the HA's so called Tasmota integration. Watching your vid here i guess with all the devices you seem to have played with a good 'ol Tasmota device must surely be/was in you system, if so can you unravel the secret formula that seems to beat me in 3+ years of trying and maybe a good few other folk out here that started in the Tasmota days and does not want to put all their devices in the trash and start again just for HA's sake would be fantastic. Which is why i started this comment about stopping @12:52, as without devices to play with just about all of the superb YT video vids are totally useless if you can't first get the front door open, if you see what I mean. Any pointers/answers would be more that greatly appreciated. Kind Rgds.
I’m very interested in going local. Can a local smart home control my Amazon Fire TV?
Great video and great to see a how you setup the dashboard, but.... I'm having difficulties setting the right entities in the right place.... would have a page for page explaination wich sensor/entity you have on the dashboard, which makes it for me a bit more 'simple' to convert? 👴 (for instance: sensor.pending_update_counter... what is this? 🙂)
I will try it on my Android Tablet.. Awesome video
Awesome video, I've stopped being lazy and have now decided to work on HA and your video has given me some great ideas and I may even use your code. Keep up the great work!
Any chance for a link to a cable like the one you use?
This is what happens when a generation is too young to remember having to walk across the room to the TV just to change channels. Why would I want to walk up to a control panel when my home is smart enough to control itself? And if for any reason I need to override something I can use voice commands or my phone?
any idea how i can move around cards? i would like to add alarmo card in center
I am getting error Configuration error customElements.get(...) is undefined when updating Vertical Stack In Card configuration any idea whats wrong?
So if you want to turn on a lamp you have to walk to the wall?? 😂😂😂
Nah you could use voice control
Control your home for the Dog House !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Jimmy, first of all, great video and you explaining very well! Very authentic and keep making such video's. I have a question about how you setup your Apple Watch charging timer. Can you share something about it?
