I haven't measured in a while, but the strings are lowered as far as they can go without buzzing. Ideally I like to have it slightly below Fender's factory setup which would be anything below 6/64". I am also using the sh sansamp and I have added some compression in post. I typically don't use an amplifier so I can't help you on what a good one is. One thing you may have to do is play around with the settings on the SH sansamp, because depending on the type of strings you use and how old they are the recommended Steve Harris settings may need to be adjusted to get the desired sound. @metropolitanmusicman9235 thank u. I use Amp because i dont Like playing in PC software. If i only connect sh sansamp to an AUX of Amp then sounds is veeery far from Steve one. When i connect it to Amp input i have much closer sound but its not still the same. Also i have lowered strings but sometines the Clank is louder that the string itself which infuriates me. I dont know how to get the good Clank. Maybe its a compression issue

​@@jedrusnowak3317 Compression can help even out the sound so it might be worth looking into. But also try to play gentle, you shouldn't have to play too hard to get the clank. Cheers

@metropolitanmusicman9235 i Play very litghtly. I played flamenco for a a long time so my touch is very light. I still dont have sh Seymours tho. Maybe this changes tone + compression. What about mids lows and highs?

@@jedrusnowak3317 I'm not sure how much the sh Seymours do, if you are getting too much clank I would turn down the 3k range on your eq possibly

There are a lot of factors that go into tone, including the wood of the body / fret board, the pickups, the strings, on board preamp if there is one, your playing technique, and any post effects such as pedals or VSTs. In general you can get a nice sounding tone like this with a bass that has 2 single coil pickups turned on full volume, roundwound strings, an EQ pedal/vst to scoop out some mid tones (I play around with lowering 500hz - 1000hz until I like the sound), and you will want some form of compression especially for slap. I typically eye ball the gain reduction, attack / release until I like it, and shoot for a ratio of 1:5 -1:8. I don't remember my exact settings for this video, since I tend to eyeball things until I like the sound. Cheers

Unfortunately you won't be able to hit the notes on the B string with only a 4 string. However you can play the notes an octave higher by playing them on your A string, since the B string in this song is drop tuned to A. Hope this helps, cheers
