    Thanks for putting these videos together. After you sanded down the board, what did you use to put down a nuclear top sheet?

  • @sonjalewis3047

    Beautifully done. Sometimes you can also hold the pinch points, and just wrap an elastic pony-tail band around the pinched-up fabric. If the hood has a straight top (like those dramatic but too-loose hoods), adding the elastic band will give the hood a rounded, closer fit. If the user needs to take a nap (or sleep, while camping in the cold!), having the pinched bunch at the TOP-Back of the hood will be much more comfortable than a pinched bunch at the back of the hood. : )

    g'day, what did you do to fix up the edges? it looks like there is some sort of putty or blue ish stuff that may have been used to re build a nice edge. Im looking to take some knocks out of mine and then repaint it but have tried flexible epoxy (2 kinds) and it doesnt sand very well. I was looking at some sort of body filler but not sure where to go with that train of thought. keen to hear

    @mantas mantas... perhaps you haven't learned how to be polite when someone is providing you with a free source of information. next time, maybe shut your mouth and send an e-transfer to your source to fund for better equipment or don't enter the free world of information. your choice.

    Did you do all of your base coat work with that airbrush?

    • @pwyu1969
      @pwyu1969 10 років тому

      Yes for this project I did all the work with rattle cans and my Paache VL and AutoAir/Wicked colors. I also have small and large HVLP guns but didn't want to use them because of the space I was working in.

    • @BradAngove
      @BradAngove 10 років тому

      That makes sense. It seems like it would take a lot of patience to get an even finish on something this big with an airbrush. Good work.

    Hi Paul . dis you "prime" the board ? Or did you just start painting over the "base" color of the board ? Clear coat ? What type ? Thanks, and good job !

    • @pwyu1969
      @pwyu1969 10 років тому

      Good question. For this board, I had to do a surface repair with fiberglass and fiberglass resin, so I did use a primer over that part. Just an one stage rattle can primer from an automotive paint shop. THEN I used AutoAir's basecoat/sealer in white. That is the uniform white color and I did that before I videoed Part 1. THEN I painted the image with AutoAir paint which is what you see in this video. In Part 3, I use a one stage rattle can clear coat also from an Auto body paint shop. If it were warmer and this were a major $ project, I would have used a 2 stage urethane clearcoat with my HVLP airgun. I always get supplies from an autobody paint shop, and not a hardware store.

    Yea, no fun airbrushing in the garage in MI. Though the room was my family room and the homemade spraybooth just made it possible to work in the winter, but I checked the specs on the booth (CFM of air) so I wasn't breathing the stuff in. Safety first!

  • @pwyu1969
    @pwyu1969 11 років тому
