The Reality Of Heroes | The Boys & Invincible
Over the years, superheroes have become a core tenet of modern media. Comic books, movies, TV shows-they’re everywhere. Yet, this popularity has recently come to a screeching halt due to some dull and lackluster stories. That is, except for two TV shows that are still going strong…
The Boys and Invincible each offer an alternative viewpoint on these classic archetypes. They expose the darker side of these mythic worlds, and even poke fun at many of the tropes we’ve become accustomed to over the years. Through this we get a greater sense of what it might truly be like for a Superman to walk among us.
The Boys and Invincible present us with The Reality Of Heroes.

Reflections In The Last Of Us Part II
Переглядів 6 тис.Рік тому
Upon release, The Last Of Us Part II quickly became one of the most controversial video games in recent history. While this may boil down to a few "unpopular" decisions made within the story, I argue all of this was by design. This game offers a reflection to those who play it, forcing us all to take a look at ourselves from a different perspective. #thelastofus #tlou #thelastofuspart2 #tlou2 #...

This video essay analyzes how Breaking Bad successfully managed to end on a high and why The Walking Dead fail...

HBOMax’s "The Last of Us" series just wrapped up its first season, but what’s next for this franchise? Will it continue to be loved by many, or is it destined to split the fan base just as the second game did back in 2020? In this video, I share my thoughts on why I think this franchise could be in some trouble if something doesn’t change soon… This is my debut in the world of video essays, but...

Bro really put Gordon Freeman in the thumbnail instead of Walter White and thought we wouldn't notice
2:28 actually watched and came back😂😂😂
W video
One knew exactly how long to go and when to end its series The over decided to milk the franchise to the bone and make tons of sequal shows no one asked for............
That reverence Norman Reedus, John Bernthal, and the other actors had for their time on season 1 seems really indicative of a production that may have been difficult, but was worth it all. It's not supposed to be easy to make shows like this. If Frank Darabont was really the biggest problem with production of season 1, none of these people would look back on it so fondly. I wonder how much of this afterword by AMC and its producers was just total character assassination to justify a corporate mouthpiece taking the reigns on their new big show. I'm pessimistic about this shift because the lasting impact is very clear now. Had Frank stayed on and made the show he wanted to make, AMC might have made a little less money, but they'd probably have another all time classic.
The best thing they could've done for TWD was to end it after s8
Should’ve just finished it like the comics 🤷♂️ That ending was brutally sad but perfect for the story imo. Rick surviving the apocalypse and once he becomes comfortable he gets killed in his bedroom by an annoying kid. It’s sad but was a great ending.
maybe if season 7-8 was less dragged on my filler episodes and useless fights and it was just one season with the same story would make an satifying ending possible
damn.. did everyone stop watching at season 7 of the TWD?
you should've done a little more research about Seinfeld. they are open about using a laugh track *at times* but they've also stated they tried to avoid using it whenever possible. Seinfeld basically used a mix of real/genuine laughter and canned laughter. you can tell the difference when you actually watch the show. there is absolutely a real audience sometimes.
@14:30 Man what are you talking about? Season 2 being top tier? That farm arc was painfully slow.
I seen Breaking Bad , I’ll never bother with Walking Dead.
where r ur subs
This is legitimately my favorite video on youtube, i find it so interesting
Lost is another great example of the writers being asked to drag the show on and the show suffers for it.
I always loved the idea that Rick was the first variant of zombie, that the governor DID end Rick that he passed on the couch and carl seeing him almost zombied but coming back felt genuinely like a "holy shit" moment for it to just be... Nothing... Rick died on a couch with just his son in the room to put him down, and that didn't even happen. It would've made the "Variants" in later seasons less... dumb(?) I guess? They just show up instead
At the end of season 1 of Invincible, to me, it felt less like Nolan was trying to convince Marc, but more like he was trying to convince himself.
Lets talk about young justice though
I was a fan of TWD initially. Initially. I lost it when zombies broke into their city and they had to cover in their "smell" to stay alive. At this point show was just boring and repetitive, same patterns, finding nice place, settling there, enemy group appears, some tensions arise, enemies attack and/or bring zombie hordes, escape, finding new place... Years passed, zombies were apparently not decomposing at all, same old same old. Zombies were usually loud but all of a sudden could sneak like Apaches in Old Shatterhand, not making a slightest sound when needed despite still moving somewhat clumsy. It's not like I decided to stop watching it, it's just I watched latest episode at the time and was so bored of schemes that I just never felt like I want to watch it further. I restarted the series once again, enjoyed initial 3 or 4 seasons and then got tired of it again. I loved Breaking Bad and re-watched it like few times over years, enjoying it all the way from start till end.
Just came here to ask, what the point is of comparing one bad endingbto another bad ending. I am very open to arguments in the comments to convince me to watch this video or even the shows again to falsify my point. Which by the way is: the makers of the show got bored and lazy.
The walking dead had no definitive ending. And that is what led to the shows downfall. If the producers weren’t such cash hungry losers and actually put love into the show, it would’ve worked.
Cue Jordon Peele "mememememe, zommmmbie!"
i remember watching a guy saying that the ozymandias episode has lost its impact on him due to the memes, and that was why he ranked it 5th on the breaking bad universe episodes, wich is so confusing at least for me, i watched it for the first time after the memes and seeing this scene 1 million times and it just hit me like that blue meth hit tuco
18:28 what the hell. Is that.
Wow
I watched both these shows, and in my opinion TWD stoped entertaining me shortly after the Nigan and saviors ark, it just became something else but not a series about people struggling in the zombie apocalapse, needless to say that the last season was something hidious
Yawn more Breaking Bad dicksucking. Truly is babys first drama show. S5 is a joke.
I absolutely hate the Violence and the Vulgarity of both shows particularly the amount and level of it in The Boyz. But the Boyz captivated me despite being one of the most uncomfortable shows I've ever watched. So bad in fact that I don't even really want to watch season 4. As much as I love the show I can't also help hating it. I think sometimes it goes so far into an extreme that it alienates itself as a show and muddies what it's attempting to do. It's trying to feel real, But some of the elements brought out are flat out absurd. I suppose these things can be just as real as any of the absurd things that happen in real life, but so few of these things reflect "My world". The world I live in is relatively peaceful. despite seeing wars and conflict propagate in the news and on tv, The worst conflicts in my life maybe involve gang violence, and accidents. Essentially what I'm meaning to say is that, this show loses its relatability sometimes with its absurdity. despite that, the Boyz still has inspired me to write my own story because it does touch on certain concepts so well. I think the most captivating aspect is how people with abilities are forced to compete for the best positions or jobs with vaught and are constantly being ranked and compared to one another. Thats a world I relate to. It's so difficult to get a job or to get a scholarship or to get government assistance, or to just get support in general, because there is always someone who is competing to get the same provisions you are, and there simply isn't enough to go around. For every talented superhero, there's always someone better who will end up winning the job. So often we struggle on our own with no one to help us, or the help we received is veiled under an ulterior motive. The Boyz depicts these things in a very realistic way most of the time and I think it's one of the biggest things that draws me in.
Season 2 of walking dead is just filler
33:56, That's what I've been saying. It would've at least kept me interested in the MCU, as a whole, just ended after Endgame. Now it's just a shell of its former self, "We'll keep making these movies because we know that it will give us a lot of money." I find it pretty impactful when a story can wrap everything up in a way that makes sense.
breaking meme
This was excellent! Five seasons with a well mapped out plot arc and interesting character development easily beats cashing in and dragging out what started as really awesome... into a zombie that refuses to die 😂
Lol... 🙌💗 12 seconds later... Morgan! 😱🤦♀️
One of the reasons it went down the toilet, was basically when they started to get rid of most of the masculine or male leads. Rick gone, Shane gone, Abraham gone, Glen gone, the King gone, just to name a few. They kept Darryl just because he was the quite type of character, and wouldnt outshine the female leads. When I started to see three ladies and one weak none threatening guy fighting off a herd again and again and again. I knew it was getting political but off course we are not supposed to talk about it...smh The first season (that year) we didnt yet have the culture changes and shifts and didnt hear "patriarchy" or "toxic masculinity" as much. A few seasons later when these words become common place in our society, look at the characters and themes of TWD and the rest of Hollywood and how they changed overnight. Just sayin. They writing didnt know how to make these culture shifts seem organic in these films and just forced it into the show and on the viewers. Thats one of the many issues that helped in destroying a once amazing show.
If you actually followed the show you would know that a lot of these characters were written out last second because their actors decided to leave, most notably Rick, it had nothing to do with politics or pushing the female leads, it's just who was left at that point from the OG cast, because as much as people didn't care for Carol as the MC, they still cared about her more than about the people who joined in middle of S6. Also half of the characters you mentioned weren't even supposed to be main leads, in the comics Glenn had much smaller role and Abraham died ages before his death in the show.
@user-zz3sn8ky7z I followed the show, and I get that folks wanted to leave. But the replacements, and the direction and strong female type character genre that took Hollywood by storm at that time didn't mean TWD was immuned to it. Just saying
Woo-oo 😞
That satire scene in Invincible actually made me RAGE. The nerve to make a joke like that when you take 2 1/2 years to release the second season AND IT STILL has filler AND a mid season break
I remember at the end of season 6, it was almost confirmed that it was Glenn, online detectives could tell who was getting bashed by where they were positioned looking at Negan. Still so trash to have only theories for months
Idk, I didn't want more after I finished watching Breaking Bad. It was perfect, and I could just rest with peace
Great point about contrasts
So The Walking Dead became the walking dead..
Beautiful video, you gaines a new subscriber
The thing about walking dad is that it’s based on a long comic
The Penguin showed how "easy" it is to finish a story properly. 8 episodes, all of them at least great and the finale was fantastic. Chernobyl also pulled it off, with only 5 episodes. The Sopranos did it, Breaking Bad did it and even the ending of The Wire is good. You don´t have to end a story perfectly, you don´t have to create an ending on the level of BetterCallSaul, which I believe is the best ending to any show, ever. Just don´t betray the fans that made the show what it is, give them "something" fitting. Reward them. And if you feel like you cannot do it anylonger as a writer/producer: Be honest, step down and let someone else finish it ... looking at you D&D!
lol, those of us that came from the anime world of my hero academia.
invincible and the boys were written in 2003 and 2006 respectively
The best thing they could have done was shrink seasons 7-8 into one season, and end it at the end of the “new” season 7. Just move the season 8 ending to the new season 7
Homelander’s right tho. You can’t stop a plane no matter how strong you are lol
one of the best shows Alice In Borderland also knows how to end well ;)
boys new season has fallen so far behind invincible that they aren't even comparable
