@@larscrantz i have to say... really love the surfing on the big ships. But i might enjoy the smaller boats more because the waves are harder to get on to and trow you all around, bit more challenge and the fun when you see the faces from the ppl onboard.

​@@kayakintro no, these boats don't have that. There's a fleet in NL that have that (Veerhaven and/or Hercules), but they are sailing on another river (the Waal, where I was last Saturday). I think you have seen there video's. I know where that fleet is, and I tried to catch it, but missed it. Next time 🤞

@@kayakintro That's crazy... i also became very stable, but i thought i was getting used to ski already 😆. Nelo takes the ski back and make a new one and I have my old 540 back so i can still paddle. Everything good!

@@IamNothing82 😂 I remember quite well the increased stability and I thought it was because I was mad at the fisherman so I was paddling fast. When I landed and tried to lift the surfski I nearly fell backward before dropping it. I only managed to lift the bow. It was a funny moment because it took some time to analyse what was going on!!

​@@larscrantz was maybe the most fun wave I had so far, and that on the first trip. Did almost 15kmph on GPS against the current, so abt 18-19 kmph real speed. These things can happen (apparently), so waste of my energy to something that already happened. Most important it's the way to solve it, but i have no doubt that's gonna be fine as well

@@larscrantz thank you!! The 540 felt too stable and bulky after i was used to the Viper, hope and think the 550 has pretty much the same feel as the Viper. I haven't test it yet because the shaft of the rudder was too short, but it came in today. Think ill go for a test drive tomorrow. I thought abt different colours (also with the Viper), but i always end up with this. Haha, indeed my own signature 😁

@@IamNothing82 Not sure when but yes, it looks fun and it is quite easy to pack in a car. He recommended to learn in places like Cook island (not too far from NZ) because the wind is constant so it’s easier to learn. In Auckland it is often quite windy but gusty too, not easy! If you are on Instagram I posted a video of kite surfers on the beach I usually paddle.

@@kayakintro we are not allowed to kite surf everywhere, wingfoil we can. If i lived closer to the beach as you do i would have started kite surfing. I don't have any other social media.

@@larscrantz most Cargoships go between 12 and 18 kmph. Think this went around 15 kmph.

@@IamNothing82But with no waves you can train for sprints etc! I wish I had a canal like yours 😂 And the boat wakes aren’t easy. It will be mostly ferries on open water so you need to paddle hard to cross their trajectory. Or you can stay just outside the port but that’s not great for safety!

Yes, luckely one good ride that day. All the other waves I just couldn't get on, didn't find the balance and power. Bit of an off day.

Was a vey fun day!!

Waves and suction from that ship were working together. At some point i was surfing but didn't move back or forth, really weird feeling.

@@kayakintro thanks 🙏. Normally it isn't soo bad. I think because of the lower water level and the weeds are at there full length (end season), they got chopped by the boat propellors.

Or maybe the weeds are dying...

I think a weed deflector will be the best option to try. Today was really bad, had to stop like 10-15 times.

Last three times were much fun!! True, not gonna ride this boat when it's cold. 540 is ok as well, but always happy to try another. Buddy of my has the 560, but i can't stay upright in that boat.

@@IamNothing82 You might still paddle it in winter but get a good dry suit!! They look nice with lots of buoyancy.

@@kayakintro time will tell. Normally i only paddle in summer, but im gonna try to suspent this year.
