YO! Disabled & Proud Webinar Training on Youth Achieving CareerACCESS
Thursday, August 6, 2015
Moderator: Emily Ladau
Panelists: Kristin Ansell, Justin Harford, and Daniel Mellenthin
Description: The National Council on Independent Living, World Institute on Disability and Policy works invite you to join us for a discussion on advocating for a better Supplemental Security Income, (SSI) for working people with disabilities.
If you are someone with a disability who uses benefits like SSI or Medi-Cal, and you want to have a job, it can be hard and stressful because of the complicated rules and lack of help available to understand it all. Without the right support you could lose your benefit or health care. The way the system is setup doesn’t make sense. It limits us from reaching our career goals. CareerAccess is here to help. Join our webinar and discuss with us the issues and solutions. Together we can work to make the system more meaningful for all of us who want to go to work and earn money.

If a quadriplegic polio survivor can do anything, maybe an autistic man like me can too.

Ed is highly educated and communicates. Someone with severe autism who cannot communicate would be treated a whole lot worse.

@@RedHiker22 I'm mildly autistic, high-functioning. So I am good, just as long as I put my mind to it.

Let's not end the stigma against disability because disability is bad it should be cured .

How can we take an anti-cure organization seriously when it tells us it wants to make us independent.

No the reason why there was no ramps and all those accommodations is because there was less disabled people we have an epidemic of disabilities .

Great video! I've only regretted being open about my disability once; during an internship at my school's child study center, I shared my learning disability struggles with the lead teacher. She took that to mean that I was dumb and found any excuse to emotionally bully & mock me, that semester turned out to be worst of my college career and I had to leave my internship and be placed on suicide watch.
