The old western Iron Horse railroad. The Native American village, the man panning for gold, The dragon in the cave, and the tunnel with the skeletons and the man breaking his shovel over his knee, and the dead miners from a cave in. Those were the days.
Is that sound actually part of the video? Sounds like it was just layered over it, especially considering it was 1964
That's the park I knew and remember fondly.
not one cage went over the top. losers!
Did the park close in 1978 or 1979?
I was told 1977

Charles I.D.Looff built some of the most beautiful carousels in the world. Most notably his machines in East Providence Rhode island and at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and the machine up in Spokane WA along with his historic 1905 Looff carousel that formally operated at Whitney's Playland at the Beach in San Francisco. He built around 40 carousels in his career and only around 6 are left operating in the USA and one in Toronto Canada
Wow I remember this ride. thanks for posting. thought this park was so much better than Rock Point
Thank You Mr. Simmons for taking me back to such great memories of my favorite amusement park !!!!!
I wish we had a POV of this ride! Only photos exist of the inside! What I’d give to see this Bill Tracy masterpiece
Lil Joe! He was a great guy!
@2:24 the cars were still there in the 70s and 80s
Remember when this was America’s greatest era.
Remember when this was America ?
America at its finest
America at its finest
Imagine owning one of the cars today ?
When America was America
When America was America
The same ride was at Lincoln Park in Dartmouth Mass. ( The flying cages ). Those were great rides.
That was awesome!
This is really my favourite Channel! Thanks for your nice Videos, it is very enlightening, Waiting for your latest update. Candlebrook Crescent Park
My cousins and I could do this, but hard work.
Thanks for posting this I couldn't remember which park had the boat ride. Now I remember the rest. Thanks for the jolt.
This is great for 1958! It is a shame that this is one more park gone.
When I was a kid, I could never do this. Bummer.
Because you weren't riding with me....
It's a great thing that the carousel still remains today in 2020, better than ever...
thanks for sharing amazing footage this park closed and was torn down a year after i was born
I was working at tango bingo when the Satellite came crashing down about three hrs, later it was out of the park.
Great memories

Some footage contains Oakland Beach Carousel and a Looff Carousel.
Beautiful memories here, thank you!!
THANK YOU, MR. SIMMONS!! This video is a Treasure! I practically grew up at Crescent Park and have tried to keep it alive in my mind for many, many years.......this video took me through a walk down memory lane and brought a tear to my eye. Thank you again for your foresight to have filmed this era, where the ladies still wore dresses and handbags....what a wonderful time. PLUS, your film of the Carousel is such a treat. I rode on that from the time I had to be lifted into the seat until I would go with a group of friends as a teen and catch the brass ring ( which I did, I might add on several occasions ). Thank you again.
1:00 footage now at WRC collection.
I remembered all those rides. my favorite was the Satellite. I also like the Trabant. that ride came later in the early 60's.
cool
wow great video. i freakin' love old videos of theme parks not only that but its like a treasure to find dark rides like this. do you by any chance have or know of any other footage in side the actual ride its self. from what i hear it was quite the ride at the time.
Some photos from the Riverboat’s interior. laffinthedark.com/articles/CP/cp_6.htm
Hello! Nice video by the way, but can you enlighten me about a certain Beanie baby that's purple pink and has a symbol on the left chest revealing the earth and "2000" underneath it, idk what the name is but if you can please get back to me that would be awesome!-thank you
I remember the advertising for this park from when I was a kid. Sadly, we never visited, we always hit Rocky Point, also gone.
Beautiful!

Could never do this!!!! Lol
~Everybody Can ALONE! (You Gotta Work Though, So That By The Time You Get Out Of There, You're All Sweaty,) When Your Time Was Up The Worker Would Pull A Lever, Which Would Cause A Block Of Metal/Steel Square To Rise Up Out Of The Floor A Bit Over A Inch, And Each Time You'd Pass The Bottom, It Cause A Little Drag To Gradually Slow You Down... (If You Never Did Them - You Probably Never Will Now, And Sadly Will Never Do A Lot Of Other Things As Well Either!)
Anyone know the history of it's closing? I know it closed years before the park did so did it burn down or was it demolished?
I grew up nearby + remember hearing that one of the hurricanes was responsible for this closing. By the time my family starting going to the park (around '74 or '75 maybe) it was no longer there, unfortunately. You'll want to verify that hurricane was the cause though, I was too young at the time to know for certain.
