1940 Ford Pickup Flathead V8 Engine Mounts with IFS HD 1080p

Not sure if this Flathead V8 engine mount setup has ever been done with a Mustang II IFS. The aftermarket mounts I see for sale don't look all that sturdy and would end up lowering the engine from stock height. Atleast I can now use the stock sheetmetal shrouds under the radiator.
2014 RZR 800s Overheating Problem HD 1080p

About a year ago this RZR started to overheat while riding. Flushed it, replaced some key parts and problem went away until the machine was turned off. Do they make a relay to have the fan come on at a lower temp? It has a 180 degree thermostat stat that is stock and has been tested. Can someone shed some light on this problem.

Added a Tusk street legal kit and Polisport headlight. The Tusk kit came with all lighting switches including the headlight switch with 3 cell Li-Ion battery and charger. The 2nd headlight battery is the same and came with a charger also. Pretty easy to install. Take note that the headlight does not come with the flat small mini female wire connectors.

1974 Jeep Steering Fix FINAL

Had a wandering problem between 40-45 MPH, replaced everything on the front end and rear end. Shackles, bushings, hangers, ball joints, tie rod ends, drag link and went from manual to power steering. It all helped but did not fix the wandering. These wedges/shims worked like a charm.

1974 Jeep CJ5 Wandering Problem HD 1080p
I'm still looking at your videos. Maybe I have a dumb idea, I don't know, but so the wedge basically lifts the front side of the spring up, then I was thinking, well, why don't I shorten my front shackles? Wouldn't that do the same thing?
If the shackles are stock length I dont think shortening them would work, but thinking outside the box is good. I just took my time to make sure things went together the best I could do with what I had. You'll get it.
Thanks Mark....Great video. .....Concise and to the point..and great demo. Not sure where your pool is ...mine is out here in Inland Empire (Rancho ) and is already down to mid 60;s ...Oct 21.... drops a lot at night . I can swim comfortably in 70's....even low 70's...but not 60's. Not a kid anymore. Do you think this cover would keep my pool warm enough in winter ? At least some of winter ? Would really like to extend my swimming at least into Nov or so... It really gets cool in at night...into 50;s even now...But then in day is often over 80....and sunnry...well into December some years.
Sorry for the late response, damn youtube sign in problems. I'm real familiar with the IE (Norco) If your going to use your pool on weekends and leave it on all week might be good for you. Temps dropped here and put cover on for a few days and was surprised that it heated the pool with being in the low 80s. Pool was 78 and the cover brought it up to 83. Hope it works out for you.
@@Pitlane326 Thanks Mark......Appreciate your efforts ...I thank you ....the entire empire thanks you !
Has anyone found a source for 8° shims? I have a 1975 with WFO 6° shims, and they did help quite a bit. But it still has some white knuckle moments when driving along at traffic speed. As another option, I have been considering a shackle reversal. The shackle reversal adds positive caster and a plush ride but comes with a different set of negative characteristics.
WFO has 8's also, not sure if your is 1.75 or 2" wide leafs.
You’re supposed to let your fan run after turning off your side by side until it turns off
Only problem with that is the fan doesn't run until the engine is started, turning the key doesn't do it. Maybe that has something to do with it?
Hi. We have parts that may fit your pool. We're happy to offer you the product completely free of charge in exchange for a video review. Are you interested?
Getting mine done now, thanks in advance for fixing my problem!
Awesome , someone gave me the tip and couldn't beleive it worked.
Also read Bills comments below about cutting the axle housing so you can remove the wedges, very important to keep your pinion angle back to stock. In this video around 3:15 is shows how much the rear end rotated. It's all good !!
Nice fix! Always a good feeling to solve a problem like that. My cj5 wanders too. I think my steering box is worn but I’ll check the shims first. Thanks
Haha it sure is, hope you get yours fixed. Steering box could help a lot.
What’s the reel?
Got it from sun2 solar, 24' and adjust down to 16'. The only problem I've had with it, broke 1 hand wheel/crank because it was so windy here it blow the whole reel and cover into pool with wheels locked. hahaha. I should have tied a rope to it and pulled it out.
I have a '74 CJ5. I thought about going 8 degrees but didnt kmow what would do with the angle of the front drive shaft. It handles MUCH MUCH better with a 6 degree. Thanks for the video!!
It was mentioned to me in one of these videos that once the right wedge works is to cut the ends of the housing tubes and spin the 6-8 degress and reweld so the pinion angle on the diff is back the way it was.
Watched your video and I would say it's a head gasket sending compression into the cooling system. Most lively a warped head due to overheating. Hope this helps. VICTORIA
Did you add till steering too?
That's a good idea but I didn't.
Cuantos grados es la temperatura perfecta para rzr 900 ?
Mark I believe those chassis engineering leafs springs are made to use GM F and X body rearends as straight bolt on speedway makes a ford 9 inch with X body nova / F body mounts already welded with correct pinion angle but the the cut to fit will work also. Your fab skills are really great the Ford is really looking good appreciate the videos
They're made for Ford. George at Chassis Engineering knew what I was doing except for the engine because I was unsure on the conditiion of the flathead.
Great video! Always modifying/fabricaring stuff when we are building these old cars. Love the "patina" paint job.
Thank you, Wish I had cool tools and equipment like you guys have. Wiring is coming and I'm going to stuggle on that.
Mark do you still have this truck? I thought I saw it advertised on Craigslist ! I bought a 1940 ford truck just like it 2 years ago but decided to keep it stock . But I think you did a great job on the chassis mods your work is very precise I really enjoyed your videos!!
Yep, still chugging along. Putting body together, brakes, wheels/tires, steering. Finally on wheels.
That’s great I’m in So Cal so not that far from Havasu I’m getting the stock instrument panel rebuilt and rewiring the truck right now I have the same type flathead in my it’s a 53 8ba if you have questions about the body or trim let me know I have learned a lot the last two years maybe I can help you
It’s funny my front cross member has a plate welded to the top where yours was cut and spliced over buggy spring u bolts to take up the slack from when it was lowered in the late 60s by take out 5 leafs and the bolts didn’t have enough thread and that was there solution but I think the cross member is still intact underneath
@@wileycoyote4624 Thank you, I always have questions, problem is I question myself too much. New progress video is uploading now. Currently doing brake and fuel lines, shift linkage, doors and bed. My flathead has serious problems, rookie mistake on my part by not opening it up before I bought it.
What’s going on with the flathead? Mine was running when I bought it but because I’m rebuilding the fuel and electrical systems it’s been down for two years I discovered the fuel pump push rod is severely worn so I’m thinking the cam lobe for the fuel pump is toast also I will run an electric pump for now!
Mine is a little bit of a pia to start back up after the engine is hot and i shut if off to take a break. sometimes it takes 2-3 times to get it to stay running
That could be all sorts of things, bad gas, plugs, air cleaner, low compression.....
I had a similar issue, I cracked the hose that connects to the motor behind the oil filter and blead out the air that way
I like that, I'll have to try
I have my fan run all the time
It might be the pipes under the carriage that connects the radiator to the engine
How Manny degrees did you go with.
I used 6 but heard 8 would work and might be better.
What I did was I put a funnel in the radiator an put anti freeze in it, I hooked the front of the range toy gantry hoist and with come along. I lifted the front off the ground 12" to 16" tires off the ground. I started up the engine and let it go through the water temp cycle. I saw air bubbles around the base of the funnel, but never used any of the out of the funnel. I let it cycle a couple of times. I let it down and reinstalled the cap. It was good since.
Ok I gotta try that, thank you
Put green in it
It has air trapped in the engine
If it does how do you get it out??? Obviously the little screw doesn't work that Iv'e tried many time as mentioned in this video.
Does the putty knife scratch the tile at all?
No and didn't leave any silver marks either. Just keep a square edge (not a rasor tip) on putty knife and majority will come off. You can get a scrub pad for pool tile at pool store that helps keep it clean. Obviously I let mine go a bit, hard water here is not my friend.
You might have a problem if your tile is textured.
Have you already solved the problem? mine is the same and I can't find a fix😢 Rzr 800. 2009
It’s normal my rzr 2013 lik it I have it before 3 years No problem ❤
I’ve been using solar blankets for many years. Definitely the clear one (or white one) does the best job. We’ve tried blue and blue/black in the past. Currently I use a 1200 weight blanket with round bubbles (didn’t like the diamond shaped bubbles) My 25 year old reel rod isn’t straight anymore due to rough handling and overall age so I’m looking for a replacement. Sun2solar looks like it’s well made so I’ll probably get one of those. Thanks for the review. Btw, in the Midwest it’s not as hot, I use 4 of those 2’by20’ black poly solar panels and run the water through with a dedicated 12 v irrigation style diaphragm water pump on timer and control by a smart switch. The pump generally runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and it pushes 2-3 gallons per minute with average temperature step-up of 8-15 degrees depending on the sun.
Temperature sensor is in the engine which is HOT. When you turn it off the coolant quits circulating through the radiator and the engine heats it up - which is where the sensor is. And that is what you are showing. Coolant does not boil at 212 degrees - more like 223 degrees for 50/50, and higher under pressure.
I understand what you're saying, but funny how it never did it when it was new and started before I flushed it for the 1st time and changed the fluid. I'm sure being hot as hell out here doesn't help. To me it's a shitty design and the head or top of engine should have a return line back to the radiator just like a car or truck, air rises!!
hey i have a 98 yz400f i’m trying to make street legal, i’m not super well known with this stuff and was wondering if i could get in contact with you about how you got everything to work, thank you and love your video!
call my landline 928-764-2233, this is a piece of cake to install this stuff.
Hi sir thank you for your videos where did you get the power pump and the brakets any part number please thanks in adavance
Got it from O'Reilly Auto Parts, $61.99, it's a saginaw type pump with reservoir that was for that year Jeep and engine. part# MPP 732-2114. I made the top bracket that bolts to the head with 2x3 angle and a piece of square tubing for pivot bolt, the bottom brackes I bought online that was universal for a chevy I believe, came with all kinds of parts and didn't cost much at all. Top bolt was the pivot point and the bottom brackets had the curve for adjusting. Pretty easy to make it work.
@Pitlane326 thank you sir I appreciate the info what about the Gear box do you have the part number for the part please?
@@simonsautorepair8082 Don't have that info , but the one for whatever year you have should work. I ordered mine for a 1974 CJ5 and fit perfect, I also had the cast iron mount on my frame, not the stamped steel. All but 1 bolt is used and fits perfect and does not move at all. This might be a problem if yours is not cast iron because the stamped steel ones are weak and will crack. They have aftermarket ones that are strong.
@Pitlane326 thank you so much for the info have a great night
I also have 74 cj5 !!! Will be watching how u switch to power steering.
I must join this club 2014 800 overheats every time I try to go for a ride.
I don't get it either, I want to put a clear hose with a valve I can open on the little screw on top of the head to see if air is in there. Everyone says it's air in the lines that causes the overheating.
Hey the override fan switch works great, don't have to wait for the fan to kick on at 204, easy to install and cheap.
Hello my fan dosn't turn off, always is on, what could it be? Thanks
The only thing I can think of is either the relay is bad or the rubber cap fell off the sending unit. If by chance the stock wiring and or switch was altered by someone could also be the problem.
Mark, does the whole kit just bolt on? I have a 40 with original rear suspension that I’m toying with possibly doing some rest mod to
Yes it is all bolt on. I had the luxury of flipping the frame upside down that made it way easier to install this kit.
Behind the passenger seat there a big bolt behind that there’s a 8mm Allen screw is the bleeder for the coolant system crack it and let all the air out of the system if the radiator is cold but the engine is hot this is more than likely the problem
I did that while is was not running and while it was running until no air came out. I might change that screw to a hose and valve for easy access.
@@Pitlane326 Does it still overheat after you bled the air out of it?
@@2551adrian Yes, only when I shut off the engine
@@Pitlane326 Thank you. I will give it a try. I have the same issue.
I have the same problem but only when I ran the machine hard uphill in 4 low. First time it did this. The engine shut down! I just had to wait it out so it would cool down. Replaced the water pump 3 years ago. Again, never had this problem. I know one thing I’m gonna do, and that’s replacing my air filter. Still had the original in on this 2015🤣🤣🤣
"It will give you something to do because you don't got shit to do anyway. your on youtube." Got me on that one.
Actually you just got me too, why am I making videos to put on UA-cam when I should be cleaning pool tile, it's all good, thank you.
Great helpful video…one question on the reel: do you know the part-model number from Sun2Solar? The one they say I need for the same size 1600 series(22x40) is $450. THANKS!
Item #405524MS is the 24' wide, Item #405520MS is the 20' wide, this is off their website and our receipt. We bought the 24' reel and slid the tubes inside each other so the wheels are about 18'. We probably could have used the 20' but didn't, ours doesn't sag in the middle because we did that. The shocking part is we paid $299.99 for the 24' real and $284.99 for the 24x40 1600 series cover back in Feb. 2021. Amazing how much the cost has gone up, OUCH !!
Having this problem right now have you still not figured it out?
Have not figured it out, only overheats when I turn it off, I don't get it. 2 things I did is leave overflow bottle empty and added a fan override switch so you can turn the fan on anytime, cost $50 on amazon, comes with a rocker switch and plugs into the wiring harness, does not interfere with the fan turning on normal. Works great for summer time. If you fgure this out please share because this RZR will never see a dealer. $$$
Head gasket, make sure and deck the heads, these are known to have leaks
@@MasterBuilderofTruthit the head gasket and he need to check the head of the cylinder may be swollen from the heat
Can you leave the pool cover on for a few days? Can you also run the skimmer/pool pump while the cover is on?
Yes, you can leave the pool cover on as long as you want. I take it off every week to clean or if it gets too hot. Does not affect skimmer, pump, pool sweeper ect.
You said you don't use it in the summer..... does it not help with water evaporation???
Mine is doing the same thing it's a 22 1000 XP high lifter. Also the temp gauge keeps going up and down.
Must be a crappy design we have, cars and trucks don't have this problem. Having to bleed air out tells me the water intake/outlet are in the wrong spot. Definitely one should be on the top of the engine because air rises. Hope you can figure yours out.
Hi..your video was very useful. Do you have the product link for the reel that you use?
Here's the link. Comes with both reel ends and aluminum tube that is adjustable up to 24'. They have other widths also, hope this helps. www.solarcovers.com/product/monsoon-in-ground-swimming-pool-solar-blanket-cover-reel-up-to-24-wide
Sounds like head gasket issues
Yup lol
Water in the oil, white smoke?
i know this is old but on my ‘74 i had to put a brace in from box to opposite frame rail. forgot where i got it but it bolts right up in minutes and solved my final bit of wandering.
I've heard that also, but what I found out is that the steering gear brackets that were stamped steel would flex. Mine is thick cast iron and doesn't flex that I can see. Thanks for the input.
If my frame had been stock I would have definitely gone with this kit. Looks great!
I finally got my Jeep on the road converted to power steering and that has no issue I guess I got lucky lot of good information thank you
Awesome!! What year do you have?
@@Pitlane326 1973 cj5 jeep
My 2010 is doing the exact same thing. Have you figured out what's doing it or how to fix it?
What I did and do is forget making sure the overflow bottle is filled, the radiator always has full fluid. Don't know why this is. I set the digital dash to temp so I can see what temp it's running at. Never boils while riding but when it does get to 204 the fan kicks on and temp drops to 180's. When I get back from a ride, I turn it off then turn key on and watch the temp climb to 204 or over , then start it, fan turns on and temp drops to 180's and then turn engine off and I'm good. I'm totally lost on why it does this but at least I have a cure. Also install an override switch so you can turn fan on at anytime, this switch does not interfere with the fan normally working, you can find these on amazon for about $50.
And... not sure if yours does this but the fan on mine does not turn on unless engine is started. I alway thought it did but don't remember when it was new. I also run Preston 50/50 all vehicles in the yellow bottle, screw what the dealer says.
how old are your tires also if you change the alignment camber angle by 1 degree could improve. also definitely you are missing rubber bushings on leaf shackles
Tires and shackles are new along with every other moving part. Added 6 degree caster shims and helped a lot. Don't know how camber can be adjusted having a solid axle and knuckles.
You have air in the lines
Doesn't overheat while driving and bled the air out, so don't know what it is.
Mostly air in system, bleeding air have to be from engine, next to injector 8mm bolt
Some engines have bleed screws to vent the system when servicing coolant. Worth a look through the service manual. I've had this problem with a different engine.
Installed steering stabilizer wider tires at list 31 or bigger and grease able shackles, I have 1976 CJ-5 and it’s solved .The jeep goes up to 90 miles per hr. And make sure your front tires are balanced .
I have all of that, matter of fact had larger tires on it and it drove worst.
Check ididit. You get what you pay for, as far as quality. The cheaper have bad reviews. Plus they plug into the painless kits, and they have column shift with tilt. I got a universal 30 in tilt. 3 in drop.
Have you figured this out yet?
Not sure, I leave the overflow bottle empty and it hasn't done it. Tested the original thermostat in a pot of water and it opens up at 180 so I put that one back in. For some reason the fan does not turn on with the key on, only runs if the engine is started.
have you removed the fan relay for any reason,if so make sure its plugged back in the right slots
@@garvinhooper Only removed the 1 relay and replaced with a new one. Never removed any other fuses, but I've always wondered if they make a relay that will turn on at a lower temp? Not sure if the relay regutates the fan temp on and off.
It's in the 60's here, went for a ride, ran great and did it again once I got back and turned it off. I restarted, fan kicks on and temp drops to 188 and turn it off. I'm lost
I’m having same thing going on mines a 2014 800 crew
